THE KAMIKOS​

The Kamiko Family is a large and reputable family within the Itabashi-Kita District holding an immense amount of wealth and power. While they reside primarily within the Slums zone of City Eight, they oddly have control reaching far beyond their assumed reach and are part of a "Council of Ten" or "The Commission". From what is known, they are on good terms with the other family, Civil Protection and Civil Administration alike while also being on good terms with the local Resistance of City Eight that currently remains. Their power extends to local Apartments, Businesses and Slummer groups in order to maintain a set peace and quiet between the Slums and Main City with their control varying from time to time based on internal agreements or even disagreements and conflict with the local Protection forces. Generally found extorting businesses for protection money in exchange for low costs and next to non-existent weekly rent, keeping the peace between local groups amongst not only themselves but also CP and Loyalist figures- and most importantly, "dealing" with those who only seek to cause problems for everyone else. Simply put, Kamiko Family is a Criminal Organisation dealing in many areas of the City, crossing paths with them in the wrong way or upsetting the City enough can cause them to come after you.

Baek Jae-Woo is the child of a Korean immigrant, Baek Do-Won and a Japanese native, Kimura Hiroe. Jae-Woo was born way before the war, and as such he experienced a lot of life pre-ascension, though the truth of the matter is that his life before the Combine takeover wasn't particularly a good one. His mother was a prostitute at a local soapland, and gave birth to Jae-Woo after his father, Do-Won, visited her during his early days in Japan. The one upside of the situation was that neither of the parents decided to simply abandon young Jae-Woo, and both of them decided to try their best to at least raise him to become a decent human being.

Do-Won worked in construction with a group of other Korean immigrants, whilst his mother left the prostitution business; or at least attempted to. Sadly, the local gang running the soapland was not very appreciative of Hiroe running off as soon as she gave birth and as such gave her an ultimatum: Stay behind, and allow Jae-Woo and his father to live. Or attempt to run, and leave the pair for dead. Ultimately, Hiroe decided to stay behind to give her family a chance, leaving behind all her savings so the pair could move out and start life anew.

Do-Won and Jae-Woo left the Arakawa ward, moving over to Itabashi ward where he once again took up a job in construction to support himself and Jae-Woo, using the savings that Hiroe gave them to keep them afloat for as long as possible. This plan worked, up until Jae-Woo's teenage years, when Do-Won started receiving less and less hours, and Jae-Woo's financial needs grew with his age. Sometime in his freshman year of high school, Jae-Woo came across a small street gang comprised of other high schoolers from his own school, lead by a shady group of men. Said group of men were always seen wearing well-made, designer clothing, drove exotic European imports...they had everything that Jae-Woo didn't have...and everything he wanted. In an effort to help his father, Jae-Woo joined up, though it wasn't without his challenges as Koreans were often seen as second-class citizens within Japan, integrated or not. His name made him stand out to the rest of society, and so he was shunned. Outsiders were not welcome in the "perfect" system that the West idealised Japan as, yet for some reason the gang never looked down on him, they looked after him in their own way; they gave him work, which in-turn gave him money. Money that he very much needed to stay alive, so in his eyes the gang was a lot more supporting of him than society ever was or would be, why would he ever participate in a society that rejected him and called him lesser than he was?

Eventually, Jae-Woo got into contact with the Kamiko family; the family that oversaw most of the criminal underworld within the area, an affluent family, one that could provide him with everything he needed. Jae-Woo was recommended into the family, and soon found himself initiated as a shatei, a lowly grunt within the family. Yet, somehow, the life of a grunt was better than anything he ever had. He made good money, he made contacts, he made a name for himself.

His life in pre-ascension Tokyo was soon cut short, as the Combine invaded and soon took the world over in a mere seven hours. With most of Japan being decimated due to portal storms as the poorly-funded JSDF couldn't hold back the Xenian wildlife. After five months of the relentless onslaught, the Combine finally ended up finding Japan, however the celebrations were soon cut short as they swiftly took over and instilled their own command over the remaining citizenry. One victim of the portal storms was Jae-Woo's father, Do-Won, who was reduced to nothing more than food for the foreign savages.

Jae-Woo expected the worst, expected his life to come to an end as the new rulers smashed down into Japan with an iron fist...yet that never came, the family stayed together and kept operating. How they did that is unknown to Jae-Woo to this day, and he isn't sure whether to be grateful to the Combine for sparing the family or to his Oyabun for managing to keep them safe. Either way, this only steeled his determination to serve the family faithfully, eventually he got a promotion to a Kyodai for his unwavering loyalty and efficiency at what he did.

As of now, Jae-Woo still lives, and still serves the Kamiko family faithfully, something he intends to do until the bitter end.

Hase Nobou is a ruthless bastard of a yakuza, preferring direct intervention when dealing with interferences of the Kamiko business that may arise in its day-to-day activities. He'll forever pride himself on his strength of will when faced with increasing odds of failure- his endurance, nothing to be taken lightly. In layman's terms: if you knock him down, you'd best hope he stays down, because he'll hold twice the fury in his heart once he arises.

This fury within him isn't all helpful though- it's been witnessed by many that a hot-headed personality typically takes centre stage as his day keeps ticking on, this leading to much unneeded confrontation and problems that arise from it- problems that typically he has to deal with the fallout of, usually with his fists. He's a brutish thug, a hard knuckled wall of muscle and someone who quickly tires of negotiations. A tight leash is required to keep any sense of order about him, unless the happenstance comes around where the dog must be let loose. ​

Okuma Nobuyori was once a simple shopworker within the region of City Eight, only thought to be destined to work like a slave to make ends meet. Hour after hour, a man can only work so long, but there was nothing fruitful to work forward toward; the benefits were cheap. The rich bureaucracy and corruption took over the once peaceful life, and how light the economy was grasped. Standard living conditions as a citizen were not highly awful. Still, barely scrapping the plate, Okuma pondered a life where he could possibly succeed and live a somewhat above-standard lifestyle, something he only dreamed of but not as often. Once in a while, he would be required by his Manager or Section Manager to go seek out and give the shop good publicity and, once in a while, audit the shop; meanwhile, they sit on a petty throne from above with their riches cackling.

Little did Okuma Nobuyori know a single day was about to change the course of his life forever. He stands there in his usual position, manning the front counter to one of the many clothing shops, before a man wearing an ornamental suit walks in and is rather dressed well for a man not even wearing a tier armband. The man, who looks to be dressed similarly to Mafiaso's appearance, wanders around the store as Okuma is baffled by his stunning appearance, only for the man to speak to him. First, it was a simple fedora purchase, which eventually led to something profound. Okuma asked how the man obtained such a stunning appearance, to which he explained he was part of an organization that sought to recruit inspiring members for a business. Okuma acknowledged this was no ordinary man, but a ruffian, a Ninkyo Dantai ( 仁侠団体). The kodomo explained that anyone seeking brotherhood, loyalty, devotion, and honor could obtain such a position within their ranks. From that moment, Okuma devoted his time after being offered the position of a kodomo, although going down a different path. Okuma was a man willing to participate in dirty work; any work is better than the regular scum shop employee, though he tended to instead want to help advise and help obtain a chivalrous look for the family. Being a Shingiin interested him, and he followed the path of assisting, advising the family, and cleaning up any possible publicity they could have.

Kawashima “Squirt” Kichirou is a young associate of the Kamiko Family, recently becoming a Little Brother. Squirt got his start in the slums of the Itabashi-Kita District, he’d run small-time games of dice to afford more than the allotted protein jars and Breen’s water. Overtime, violence, and distrust would become mainstays in Kawashima’s day-to-day life yet he longed to be a part of something.

Through a regular at his dice games, he’d heard about the Kamiko family and discovered that they were recruiting new brothers. Squirt was eventually able to get in contact with a Shateigashira who needed an additional man on his crew. So far, he has been able to prove himself a trustworthy and reliable man on the street, gaining himself association with the family as a Shatei.​

Born in the city of Nagoya before the war, Nori Fukuda is no stranger to the life of an accountant. Having spent time in the position for a couple of mid-level companies in the 1990s, Nori enjoyed his job well enough to try and find employment in the field even after the Combine's Invasion. Unsurprisingly, Occupied Earth had corporations in need of CPAs. Desperate, Nori left the white-collar life of legal employment and immersed himself in the black dealings of organized crime.

Nori Fukuda lives his life by credits and chips, not minutes and seconds. Time is bought in City 8, and at the moment, the Kamiko family has plenty of time. This is due to the hard work of men like Nori, who track every credit, every token, every chip that enters or exits the family's coffers. It is up to Nori to know who is paying, who has to be paid, and, most importantly, who needs to be cut out. But the job of a yakuza accountant isn't just to be a bean counter but also to manage of the family's above-the-books businesses. Nori's face is the face a shop keeper sees if the family is happy with them. If the family isn't happy... well then you might see the face of a koydai instead. Essentially, Nori wheels and deals with local businesses and then counts the money collected afterward.

But Nori isn't just an expert at counting the family's money but creating cover stories for its existence. Nori knows how to launder money in the post-physical currency world City 8 finds itself in. It takes skill and care, but it can be done. Loose tokens leave a paper trail, and it is Fukuda's job to sweep it up.

Nori's long years of service to the family have made him one of the only men trusted to handle their money. His meticulous bookkeeping, money laundering, and tab keeping have kept stores paying, cops bribed, and the Komikos Family very, very rich.​

Shimazu Hosokawa, a long-standing member of the Yakuza, a loyal soldier, also known as 弱肉強食, the "Survivalist".

Shimazu rose up in a family that had many harsh rules, but ensured discipline no matter the cost. His father, an old member of a long-forgotten gang, has teached all the essentials to Shimazu before killing her mother due to her cheating, disloyalty is not acceptable and can never be forgiven.

His two brothers and him rose up in a poor household, making a living themselves to survive, that is what their father has taught them, always earn your keep, do not be an unnecessary mouth to feed. They were the best in their classes, no matter their past in a poor neighborhood, always had the best results among their classmates, all thanks to the discipline their father has taught them.

The death of his mother has not affected him deeply, since they were being raised by his father since when he was 2 years old. Yet, it did leave an empty spot in his personality, "Mercy".

Years passed, Shimazu's older brother joined the gang of his father, robbing, pickpocketting, extortion and all the crimes to make a living, while Shimazu was still in his school while working in a restaurant... Then it happened, the Portal Storms came.

Shimazu's family being experienced in fighting has survived for a decent time in Hiroshima, fighting off all kinds of abominations, yet it was too much even for them, his brothers slain by an enemy gang in spite of all the looting they have done.

It was only him and his father remaining, and then... The unthinkable happened, the Combine arrived, and they have slain nearly everybody he knew, excluding his father.

Shimazu, being seperated from his father has decided to survive, that is what he is known for at the end, he was living in the slums before being approached by some other Japanese people, known as the Kamikos, he immediately got interested to their Yakuza, knowing that this is what he knows best, what he was taught. Loyalty, Discipline and Power.

Shimazu has been a loyal soldier of the Yakuza since the beginning, conducting all assasinations, robbings and anything he is ordered to do, no exceptions, no hesitation. Power comes from loyalty and discipline.

Through the passage of time and the 7-Hour War. Shohei rose through the ranks, his prowess in combat matched only by his wisdom in strategy. His every action was a reflection of the family's values, his every decision guided by the ancient principles that had been passed down through generations. Despite the trials and tribulations that beset him, Shohei remained resolute, his loyalty unshakable in the face of adversity.
As the years unfolded, Shohei's reputation as a loyal dog spread through the Kamiko family. Always following the orders of the Family without a second doubt, his life was consumed by it. Knowing nothing better Shohei decided for this path, his body and mind only there to serve. Failing at a crucial mission, the Oyabun cut his finger and demoted him to Shatei.

Almost an emotionless husk left behind... only time will tell what will happen in the Slums of City-8. Hearing of the rumors, he is cautious and on lookout for the new-arrivals.

In layman's terms: if you knock him down, you'd best hope he stays down, because he'll hold twice the fury in his heart once he arises.

This fury within him isn't all helpful though- it's been witnessed by many that a hot-headed personality typically takes centre stage as his day keeps ticking on, this leading to much unneeded confrontation and problems that arise from it- problems that typically he has to deal with the fallout of, usually with his fists. He's a brutish thug, a hard knuckled wall of muscle and someone who quickly tires of negotiations. A tight leash is required to keep any sense of order about him, unless the happenstance comes around where the dog must be let loose. ​

Okuma Nobuyori was once a simple shopworker within the region of City Eight, only thought to be destined to work like a slave to make ends meet. Hour after hour, a man can only work so long, but there was nothing fruitful to work forward toward; the benefits were cheap. The rich bureaucracy and corruption took over the once peaceful life, and how light the economy was grasped. Standard living conditions as a citizen were not highly awful. Still, barely scrapping the plate, Okuma pondered a life where he could possibly succeed and live a somewhat above-standard lifestyle, something he only dreamed of but not as often. Once in a while, he would be required by his Manager or Section Manager to go seek out and give the shop good publicity and, once in a while, audit the shop; meanwhile, they sit on a petty throne from above with their riches cackling.

Little did Okuma Nobuyori know a single day was about to change the course of his life forever. He stands there in his usual position, manning the front counter to one of the many clothing shops, before a man wearing an ornamental suit walks in and is rather dressed well for a man not even wearing a tier armband. The man, who looks to be dressed similarly to Mafiaso's appearance, wanders around the store as Okuma is baffled by his stunning appearance, only for the man to speak to him. First, it was a simple fedora purchase, which eventually led to something profound. Okuma asked how the man obtained such a stunning appearance, to which he explained he was part of an organization that sought to recruit inspiring members for a business. Okuma acknowledged this was no ordinary man, but a ruffian, a Ninkyo Dantai ( 仁侠団体). The kodomo explained that anyone seeking brotherhood, loyalty, devotion, and honor could obtain such a position within their ranks. From that moment, Okuma devoted his time after being offered the position of a kodomo, although going down a different path. Okuma was a man willing to participate in dirty work; any work is better than the regular scum shop employee, though he tended to instead want to help advise and help obtain a chivalrous look for the family. Being a Shingiin interested him, and he followed the path of assisting, advising the family, and cleaning up any possible publicity they could have.

Squirt got his start in the slums of the Itabashi-Kita District, he’d run small-time games of dice to afford more than the allotted protein jars and Breen’s water. Overtime, violence, and distrust would become mainstays in Kawashima’s day-to-day life yet he longed to be a part of something.

Through a regular at his dice games, he’d heard about the Kamiko family and discovered that they were recruiting new brothers. Squirt was eventually able to get in contact with a Shateigashira who needed an additional man on his crew. So far, he has been able to prove himself a trustworthy and reliable man on the street, gaining himself association with the family as a Shatei.​

Born in the city of Nagoya before the war, Nori Fukuda is no stranger to the life of an accountant. Having spent time in the position for a couple of mid-level companies in the 1990s, Nori enjoyed his job well enough to try and find employment in the field even after the Combine's Invasion. Unsurprisingly, Occupied Earth had corporations in need of CPAs. Desperate, Nori left the white-collar life of legal employment and immersed himself in the black dealings of organized crime.

Nori Fukuda lives his life by credits and chips, not minutes and seconds. Time is bought in City 8, and at the moment, the Kamiko family has plenty of time. This is due to the hard work of men like Nori, who track every credit, every token, every chip that enters or exits the family's coffers. It is up to Nori to know who is paying, who has to be paid, and, most importantly, who needs to be cut out. But the job of a yakuza accountant isn't just to be a bean counter but also to manage of the family's above-the-books businesses. Nori's face is the face a shop keeper sees if the family is happy with them. If the family isn't happy... well then you might see the face of a koydai instead. Essentially, Nori wheels and deals with local businesses and then counts the money collected afterward.

But Nori isn't just an expert at counting the family's money but creating cover stories for its existence. Nori knows how to launder money in the post-physical currency world City 8 finds itself in. It takes skill and care, but it can be done. Loose tokens leave a paper trail, and it is Fukuda's job to sweep it up.

Nori's long years of service to the family have made him one of the only men trusted to handle their money. His meticulous bookkeeping, money laundering, and tab keeping have kept stores paying, cops bribed, and the Komikos Family very, very rich.​

Shimazu Hosokawa, a long-standing member of the Yakuza, a loyal soldier, also known as 弱肉強食, the "Survivalist".

Shimazu rose up in a family that had many harsh rules, but ensured discipline no matter the cost. His father, an old member of a long-forgotten gang, has teached all the essentials to Shimazu before killing her mother due to her cheating, disloyalty is not acceptable and can never be forgiven.

His two brothers and him rose up in a poor household, making a living themselves to survive, that is what their father has taught them, always earn your keep, do not be an unnecessary mouth to feed. They were the best in their classes, no matter their past in a poor neighborhood, always had the best results among their classmates, all thanks to the discipline their father has taught them.

The death of his mother has not affected him deeply, since they were being raised by his father since when he was 2 years old. Yet, it did leave an empty spot in his personality, "Mercy".

Years passed, Shimazu's older brother joined the gang of his father, robbing, pickpocketting, extortion and all the crimes to make a living, while Shimazu was still in his school while working in a restaurant... Then it happened, the Portal Storms came.

Shimazu's family being experienced in fighting has survived for a decent time in Hiroshima, fighting off all kinds of abominations, yet it was too much even for them, his brothers slain by an enemy gang in spite of all the looting they have done.

It was only him and his father remaining, and then... The unthinkable happened, the Combine arrived, and they have slain nearly everybody he knew, excluding his father.

Shimazu, being seperated from his father has decided to survive, that is what he is known for at the end, he was living in the slums before being approached by some other Japanese people, known as the Kamikos, he immediately got interested to their Yakuza, knowing that this is what he knows best, what he was taught. Loyalty, Discipline and Power.

Shimazu has been a loyal soldier of the Yakuza since the beginning, conducting all assasinations, robbings and anything he is ordered to do, no exceptions, no hesitation. Power comes from loyalty and discipline.
