Subject: [Initial testing in ‘Homo Artificialis’ path of Project Hominastra]
Abstract
Methods
00596 served as a control group and was not given any memory replacement. Subject 00596 is as of this report still comatose and unresponsive to external stimuli sans reflexes. We are considering rescinding 00596’s usefulness and moving to dissect for internal analysis instead.
Subject: [Initial testing in ‘Homo Artificialis’ path of Project Hominastra]
Abstract
With methods detailed in 22/UPD/03112019, we have been able to synthesize a pseudohuman embryo within Combine Synth gestation tanks. After a series of genetic rewrites detailed in this report, we have developed a synthetic humanoid shell not unlike the Hunter. Whereas the Hunter required the ingrafting of humanoid, purpose-cloned brains that interfaced with the synthetic vessel, this body is completely self-sufficient, and (with extensive help from our advisorial consult) equipped with many synthetic amenities that extant Combine Overwatch soldiers already have.
The subjects of note in this report (00592, 00593, and 00596) were grown under specific conditions to observe cognitive differences between each.

Methods
In order to facilitate the synthesis of a humanoid vessel, our team has synthesized an artificial human genome over the course of three months with an emphasis on hand-picking particular genetic information taken from archived genetic samples dated 2003, 2010, and 2017 as well as sampling taken and shipped from various high-profile non-citizen subjects of note. Genome-building is planned to become automated within the biospectrometer as its functionality is increasing, but as of this report, DNA sequences must be constructed manually through chemical bonding.
The creation of subjects 00592, 00593, and 00596 (among others) required the creation of a specialized growth vat for carbon-based Synths fitted to an approximate humanoid size. The growth process took approximately one week at full power. Previous subjects (00491-00500) brought to light a discrepancy in growth vats, as these subjects ceased biological function after approximately 3 days during the growth process due to incompatible nutrient feeds.
Following the full growth of subjects 00592 and 00593, each was subjected to a different form of memory replacement. 00592 was given a customized set of memory replacement to fill the artificial brain (modeled after a human’s) with memetic noise. 00593 was given exclusively OVERWATCH training simulations.
Following a week-long simulation period, subjects 00592 and 00593 were released from their pods and put into mutual confinement. 00592 almost immediately showed great discomfort and apparent signs of paranoid schizophrenia or other forms of psychosis. While unable to speak (it was not taught how to) it vocalized great distress.
00593, being trained exclusively on combat protocol, has shown to be predictably aggressive and consistently gesticulated. Upon further inspection, the hand signs were correlated to weapon maintenance instructions. After approximately two hours and thirty minutes, subject 00593 lashed out at subject 00592, bashing its head against the window until unconsciousness. It then snapped subject 00592’s neck. Further observation showed increasing aggressiveness and inability to learn by subject 00593.
