I want to speak about the 9/11 Junktown Raid. I'm not going to make a 14 paragraph essay about it, because I think it's incredibly stupid to do so, but I need to air my grievances.

Firstly, the reason it happened in the first place. From what I gather, an attempted shotcop from *one person* had occurred. I do think this is grounds for a raid on Junktown, however, rules were broken BY CPs. So, please tell me how the absolute FUCK rebels are punished in not only losing all of their equipment, but also being NLR'd to high hell. No RP, no PK, no ACTUAL finality. This just feels like a massive middle finger to people who were literally just sitting around roleplaying. The situation could have been voided, the rp could have continued, and instead we got our time wasted. What kind of fucking RP server takes S2K MORE seriously than RP? I am ashamed of this entire situation, and I hope you all do better.

Not only is this purely bias towards Civil Protection, but also a spit in the face for everyone who tried their hardest to get the gear they had. Me, for example. The entire time, I cooperated, expecting CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT to come out of it, instead, I was handed an NLR with no refund, literally the WORST decision that could have been made. Not only I, but multiple other people will likely be self-PKing, because going on with this weird blip in our memories is just wrong. As a player, a new player, I am disgusted by the lack of roleplay within this situation, thank you for reading my little complaint.

I feel undermined, but will continue to play the server

Crazy how it turned into Willard's 9/11.

Gonna be interesting to read this.

Well... A cop here. I just followed along tbh. I wanted to sweep, yes. But I wasn't aware the crime timer had ended as I expected the lead of the sweep to be LOOKING at it.

We were told by a GM to give you all an NLR and not capture you. We can't go against staff wishes.

Little edit: I wanted you guys to get NLR refund since the target wasn't there. No matter if you guys defended yourselves or not. I was the first one to open fire on you all at the docks.

This is the worst thing that’s ever happened on a 11th of September

As the one who initially stated sweep rules were broken, this is in fact false. I was part of the sweep and jumped the gun in saying that as people were already in contact supposedly when crime timer ended. So no sweep rules were broken. I would have personally called for a NLR full refund either way for this encounter, but that is not for me to decide. I am sorry that what occurred happened, but that's the nature of willard sometimes

Maybe they give us refund anyway :touchie fingers:

I'm not blaming cops for this, I'm blaming the staff that made the decision. Sorry for making it seem that way.

Hello, I'm the person who lead the sweep and do apologize if this has caused any grief. But the reason for the sweep was not because of the earlier shotcopper but due to the fact we was tasked with ridding the rot within the sewers as it's started to grow and we are actively engaged with removing it.

I decided to follow the rot down further, see how and where it leads/ends. We had a look around and got engaged, which made us push the assault. We got shot at, we had no choice but to eliminate those who were actively trying to kill us. The decision further is out of my hands as I'm only stating my side of the story and awaiting for staff's final words on this.

Based on my own experiences, I'll say that being a rebel just isn't viable unless you have a base that cannot be raided. Otherwise, expect to get swarmed by a random raid/sweep at some point.

I'd just want to say generally, not replying to this certain situation cause I wasn't involved.

The sewers, beach and Outlands are dangerous zones meaning that there's a higher probability that there will be zombies and other creatures, let alone sweeps organized by the Combine. I feel like people who RP rebels have forgotten that and developed this mentality where if they RP passively in these zones, they get an immunity from repercussions that follow when getting caught in the same ones. This was not the case some time ago, people who RPed within the Underground used to RP more in the Slums instead of walking in their gear 24/7 on the beach and sewers.

My point is, if you are travelling or actively spending time in these zones, you are to expect something bad happening eventually.

Its not so much an immunity as much as; where do you expect them to roleplay otherwise?

city is a no go for those who are BOL and slums same scenario of being swept

You can't tell me 90% of Rebel players are BOL'd. Even if they are... It was by the choices they made that led them to being BOL'd. Slums are vast enough to RP semi-securely even as a BOL. Plus I have been in Slums for maybe five consecutive days... There was one or two sweeps max due to the Rot outbreak. You are not meant to be safe at all if you are BOL wherever you are regardless.

I'm not saying you should not RP on the beach or sewers or Outlands, just be prepared for the consequences if you get caught lacking.

Hi, so I was one of the GM's actively observing the CPs since they had entered the sewers and unfortunately into Junk Town. I watched everything go down, and was observant to the active crime timer.

I'm going to state this plainly and have it be my main point, neither the sewers nor junk town are safe havens. Safety does not exist. As a rebel, you should expect sweeps and be on your guard, especially with the general knowledge that unannounced sweeps exist, and can happen at any time. The expectation of roleplay is that the unpredictable can happen. If you are passive roleplaying, that's amazing! But you should always expect the unexpected to occur, whether its a drunk slum dweller trying to barge into your conversation, or a team of CP's breaking down the door. BOL and AC mean exactly that. They bring the uncertainty and danger that makes rebel RP a nightmare, a thrill, a dream and a reality. Take it from someone who has been a rebel player for years, even beyond Willard.

Now.. I've gone through the rules specific to CPs in this situation. No rules were broken from what I can find. As they were pushing an objective uninvolving rebels, WITH an active crime timer that just so happen to be on the clock as well, and expired THE MOMENT bullets started flying in junk town. (yes, more than just myself have verified it) CPs were within their right to engage the rebels who were standing brazenly out in the open with their gear, regardless of where they were. You were seen and engaged as a threat, period. After which a few others ran from their places of hiding to join the fight, and fell with them.

Does that mean I think what happened is right? Honestly? Maybe not? I've never been a personal fan of sweeps extending the full length of rebel controlled territory, but then again as a member of the civil protection faction for almost three years I understand what happened here. I don't know the reason why they decided to go to Junk town, but they did, and they had more than enough reason to do so. It's an IC decision that the leader of the sweep team is allowed to make, for a number of causes. CP's run the risk of death for their sweeps, just like rebels run the risk of death for shotcopping or going on missions.

What I'm about to say seems to be a very unpopular opinion currently, but frankly it needs to be said bluntly.
You all were NLR'd with no refunds. Plain and simple. That was the best outcome for this, if you ask me.

The alternative is a PK and a loss of a character, which (take it from me) is a heavy blow to some more than others. You lost scripts, which can be regained. You walked away with your characters lives still intact.
Those involved did ask staff and gm's if you were to be NLR'd (bad form but I get it).. but the truth is that *that* is not up to us, it was an IC decision that needed to be made by the boots on the ground in character. They could have brought you in, interrogated you and executed or even STALKERIZED some of you, leaving you to try your hand at a PK appeal and waste more time off your characters or even lose them outright for good. Everything that occurred was IC DECISIONS leading to more IC DECISIONS, on BOTH SIDES. While we all were more than in agreement to NLR no refund, myself included, the cards could have been much worse for you if circumstances were different.

Civil protection players were doing what they SHOULD have been doing. They did their jobs, and ended up finding a swarm of rebels to kill, almost losing a fight themselves. Bad luck for you, I know, but its IC.
Rebels LIVED to fight another day, losing their equipment in the fray of chaos in Junk town as they fled for their lives. Sucks.. Sorry. But truth is you can get ALL of it back (if you and your groups haven't already)

1 - Seeing eight people die, two of which were actually seen at the moment of impact. Everyone always has a choice to not engage. Some of you (Not all but some, I watched) chose to find the conflict and engage in it, when there was clear chance to avoid it entirely or even escape.
2 - You have the power to @ staff for a PK. You can choose to decline the NLR if you died in combat. Please do not insinuate that us NLR'ing a group is taking away RP from you. The civil protection opted to be generous and not PK you when they very easily could have. It is WITHIN THEIR CAPACITY AS A FACTION and part of the PK rules. If you feel an NLR takes away any character development that an interrogation and PK would have? Request a change of circumstance. Request that you were captured instead, or your character was present and shot in the head. Since you wanna talk about people Self PKing because of IC circumstance, do it..

Hi dubik here, not gonna say much cause i’m not part of the situation much. However this entire situation has kinda fucked over passive RP. The map is limited and soon there will be no place were we can gather and talk or do other rp

Not blaming everyone but simply adding my opinion.
