Abuse report against Nath

I'm making this report for Nath abusing his GM powers to go into observer while in pursuit of two players.

Nath's character got into an argument with the duo, an argument that eventually escalated into a chase, where Nath's character ran after the two.

After the duo ran off, Nath went into Observer to check on the location of where the duo was. You can tell this isn't coincidental considering he actively stood still, because if it was accidental he would've kept moving forward.

To also note, I doubt this is an Event Character considering I spoke with one of the Rebel Leads, and they had no idea about any Events being ran for Rebels/Slummers, and considering there has been an announcement in the Rebel Discord about this before, and they have no idea of it. I can only assume that either Nath broke the Faction Guidelines, or abused his powers on a real character.

Considering I am in the video (MOM I'M ON TV) I'll give my 2 cents about this.
I don't know either of these characters besides running into this bandit character who's with the 51st or smth. Effectively just told him to fuck off (IC) and I continued on my way.

Regardless that's about all I can add to this discussion.

It's an event character and is purely P2L. I have a whole narrative document planned out in the ET section of the discord for the faction he belongs to and part of the plan was to have them run into some characters in the sewers to make people familiar with the faction. My attempts to rob were going to result in guaranteed failure as if I had any success against the people I found my plan was to spawn a Gonome to promptly kill the 51st member.

If using observer to find and pursue people for encounters during events is deemed problematic then I won't continue to do so.

To put my two cents in that nobody asked for, having to log every event that's done for rebels for approval by rebel leads is incredibly annoying and will result in people not wanting to do events. Sometimes you just get a spur of the moment idea and write some kino, other times you plan stuff out. Events can be either and or.

Please don't do this.

And like, events are events man. He goes around trying to mug people, and fails to do so at every encounter? Okay, great - now you have a reason to speak to other rebels and witch-hunt the guy if you want. Or, disarm him and tell him about how wrong he is, or speak to him, or X or Y or Z. People aren't out to get you, and if Nath was in this instance he wouldn't be fucking stupid enough to use Observer to do it.

As somebody who talked to Nath about the 51st group and planned to join in to help it kick off, I'm a bit confused as to why this report was even made?

The characters are P2L, so much so that even if by crazy chance we somehow win, we're going to shoot ourselves in the foot to ensure we still lose.

My biggest issue with this report, however, is the fact that no clear effort was made to talk to nath about it and it's proven by this part of the message.

To also note, I doubt this is an Event Character considering I spoke with one of the Rebel Leads,

Why not speak with nath and ask about it, man? It's like the whole talks about attempting to sort things out amongst ourselves first didn't really solve much for some, proven by the fact an abuse report was made with little discussion about what was even happening.

It's a bit disheartening after reading this to move forward with this still, so I hope some reasonable outcome can be made from this where everybody is satisfied to some degree and this can continue.

The event team will not be needing to run every event they do in the sewers or for characters that can possibly be considered rebels or slummers to the rebel leads for their approval. The rebel faction is essentially a free whitelist that anyone who is is able to log into the server is allowed to take part in, and encompasses likely the largest group of unconnected players on Willard.

Part of the reason why the event team needed to be reformed is because of issues like this, where people from outside of our team would regularly try to rulebook lawyer us into saying there are certain events and things that we can and cannot do. It made trying to do things for the server needlessly difficult and this is not how things will be going forward. Approvals for these things are handled by ET leadership, as they are events.

Taking a moment to say this is acknowledged as a report, so read fully for the verdict.

I have spoken to all parties involved given the basis of this report is concerned by witness testimonies. The video itself is a perfect example of a good piece of evidence - so I'll start from there.

The video does indeed show the use of observer in a pivotal moment, which would immediately proclimate some form an abuse under the circumstances of what given criteria we pursue to be a breach of the rules. Usually when I look into situations like these if I'm to give a verdict - I ask what advantage or situation the person / character has to gain from it.

Given the clarifications I've gotten from nath himself - he stated that he had nothing to gain given and that he specifically stated the robbery was always going to end in failure. From the explanations given within vinculum, none of the characters were in practical danger or risk.

Considering the character charged forward still, I have also been informed by other parties both in observational stance and partaken stance of the events in full - that they do not believe this constitutes as a form of abuse on the actions of the accused.

What ever my opinion on this would be somewhat irrelevant, but since I'm judging nath on his actions of using noclip in the time, place and specific follow up actions that occurred shortly thereafter - I don't see nath acting in bad faith of his GM rank.

Vasili was correct in making this report because this is the correct way of dealing with concerns such as these.

------------

I have spoken to / or seen the opinions of the following people privately:
Asimo, Astro, BantaMan, Boots, Brickwall, George, Matt and Reece.

It is unanimously in favour of the idea that nath's action do not constitute, when comparing this to the testimonials of nath in comparison to the report, any breach of trust or the ruleset.

I will state that it is worthy of a moment of time to alert fellow GMs & staff alike if you're playing an event character on GM chat.

Thank you everyone for your time.
