"Human beings have no inherent value other than the money they earn. Cats have value for example, because they provide pleasure to the humans. But a deadbeat on welfare? Well, they have negative value."

One of the few people I could consider a true friend. You helped me whenever I needed it, and I helped you in return. We could have grown unmatched if my advice didn't fall on deaf ears, but instead they shot you down like some sort of common dog, leaving you to die while they pilfered your pockets. Even now as I write this, I get goose bumps. I want to believe you're in some distant city sipping on a margarita, but with time, I know you'll become nothing more than a distant memory. The city has grown cold, the machines continue to turn but are silent, and I think the city still mourns your death...

I'd like to become better acquainted with him, but I know our relationship is better left at arm's length in case one day you bite off more than you can chew. You're greedy in that sense, always looking to obtain more power for your already sinking boat; it's just a matter of time now that you tug on the tail of something nasty. But I respect you for your effort; I've never seen someone so unrivalled when it comes to an argument or debate. Though, to some degree, I feel nothing but pity for you, everyone who's gotten close to you has either died or left, through mysterious circumstances or just bad luck. I'd like to fill the void in your life, but I know it's not my place; it's for someone else.

No loyalty, no guts, and no ambition. He didn't work a single day in his pathetic life; perhaps it's jealousy bubbling these emotions up to the surface. As much as you were a bad vice director, you played a crucial part in the Monopoly of Commerce when you were around, licking all the piss and shit from Orwell's boot with a smile. I'm quite glad you're dead actually, took a good amount of willpower to not burst into laughter during your funeral. I'm just sad I didn't get to bring up the fact you ruined my campaign, getting one last glimpse at your smug face before you died, but that doesn't matter now; the debts been paid.

I know you didn't like me very much, you basically wore it like a badge, the type you tuck deep below your shirt hoping nobody saw it. But in a way I enjoyed that about you, like Poelking, feeble and hiding behind a mask of pure humility. I enjoyed seeing how far I could tug on the mask before it fell, showing me your true face. I can't say I blame you for turning face and running either, half the city wanted you strung up by a street lamp like some criminal, myself included. At least now in that hole you consider home you don't have to wear any sort of mask, literally or figuratively.

I'm guilty of shaping Poelking what he is today, something raw, something dangerous. The relentless teasing he got from me and others was perhaps sometimes too much for his little heart. But his affection for the orange haired woman was more than obvious, it was just a matter of time before someone caught on. But I enjoyed that about Poelking, an open book, with his flaws and imperfections on full display, an incomplete jigsaw to an already complex puzzle. I wont lie, I do feel somewhat guilty as he now works as cannon fodder for the combine, fighting someone else's battle limb by limb.

I'm glad I cut you loose when I did. The definition of a useless worker, refusing to do a job you're paid to do. I'm glad I was much kinder back then, because if I wasn't I'd have needed lessons in body disposal. Then again, from what I've heard maybe the combine have done it for me, grounding you up into some paste and feeding you to their robot soldiers. Maybe at least then you can serve a purpose in this world, as disposable chum for those even greater than you.
