Diary Entries
Today, a cryptic message crackled through the radio waves, offering an opportunity to join a mission aimed at derailing a train. The thought of participating in this daring act both excites and concerns me. I find myself at a crossroads, where the potential reward must outweigh the inherent risks. The cause is just, and the chance to strike against the Combine is an opportunity I cannot ignore. However, I am aware that failure could lead to dire consequences. If the Combine becomes aware of our intentions or if the mission goes awry, this very well may be my final entry. Wish me strength and fortune, for in this endeavor, the fate of many rests on our shoulders.

It's been eight days since my last entry, and today marks a significant turning point. Resonance, the person I met during our previous mission, has reached out to me. Without hesitation, I've chosen to team up with him on a new task—to retrieve a stolen shipment of his. Those bandits clearly underestimated the consequences of crossing paths with our people. What makes this mission even more promising is the fact that Resonance will be bringing some of his armed guards, making us a formidable group of ten. It's clear that these bandits, at least from what I remember in the Metro, usually aren't well-armed. With our superior firepower and manpower, this shouldn't pose too much of a challenge. As I prepare for this mission, I can't help but feel a surge of confidence. The odds are in our favor, and the bandits will soon realize the mistake they've made. Their ill-gotten gains will be rightfully returned, and justice will be served. So, wish me luck as I embark on this endeavor. With Resonance and our ten-strong team, we are more than ready to face whatever lies ahead. Time to show those bandits that they messed with the wrong people.

Biography
Early Life
Alfred Pearson was born on March 9, 197*, in Oxford, England, to loving parents, Robert and Elizabeth Pearson. Growing up in a warm and nurturing household, Alfred had a happy childhood filled with love and support. His parents recognized his inquisitive nature and encouraged his intellectual curiosity from an early age. His inquisitive nature led him to pursue a criminology and criminal justice degree at the prestigious University of Oxford, where he excelled in his studies. During his time at Oxford, Alfred developed a fascination with intelligence analysis, recognizing its potential to uncover patterns and prevent crime before it occurred. His dedication and exceptional academic performance caught the attention of his professor, a renowned expert in intelligence analysis and a former operative in British intelligence agencies.

Impressed by Alfred's skills, he offered him a unique opportunity to join a newly established research team at MI6. Intrigued by the chance to apply his analytical abilities in real-world scenarios, Alfred eagerly accepted the offer upon graduating in 1992. Over the following years, Alfred honed his skills as an intelligence analyst, delving into various criminal cases and international affairs. His ability to connect seemingly unrelated pieces of information and identify patterns became his trademark. With each successful operation, Alfred's reputation grew within the intelligence community.

However, everything changed in 2001 when the world was ravaged by sudden and catastrophic events known as the Portal storms. Bizarre phenomena emerged, tearing open portals to another dimension known as Xen, unleashing strange and dangerous creatures into the world. These inexplicable events disrupted global stability, and governments struggled to maintain control. Despite the chaos, Alfred's analytical prowess and deep understanding of criminal behavior again caught the attention of MI6. Recognizing the need for skilled individuals in the face of this new threat, Alfred was reassigned to a special division tasked with analyzing and countering the consequences of the portal storms.

When the Combine arrived and the world succumbed to their rule, Alfred Pearson found himself at the epicenter of the chaos. Alfred not only had to confront the loss of his homeland but also the devastating news of his parents' fate. Alfred's parents, Robert and Elizabeth Pearson, had been his pillars of support and the foundation of his early life. They nurtured his intellectual curiosity and encouraged his pursuit of knowledge. However, during the brutal 7-Hour War that unfolded with the arrival of the Combine, they tragically lost their lives.

The news of their deaths shattered Alfred's world. The grief and anguish he experienced were compounded by the knowledge that he was now alone, left to navigate the treacherous landscape of the Combine-occupied world. Their absence created a void within him that would never be filled, leaving him with a profound sense of loss and a burning desire for justice. With his homeland in turmoil, Alfred was forced to abandon his position within MI6 and go into hiding. He understood that his knowledge and skills made him a target for the Combine, and he couldn't afford to risk capture. Seeking safety and anonymity, Alfred embarked on a perilous journey that led him to City 24, located in Geneva, Switzerland.

Present
In the desolate streets of City 24, Alfred Pearson weaves through the dilapidated buildings and winding alleyways, a ghost among the downtrodden populace. Though he conceals himself from prying eyes, his heart carries the burden of profound sorrow. The loss of his parents weighs heavily upon him, gnawing at his soul with an unrelenting ache.

Amidst the suffocating grip of the Combine's rule, Alfred grapples with the constant reminder of their absence. Their memory haunts him, tainting the remnants of a once vibrant world with a profound sense of loss. He feels the weight of their guidance slipping through his fingers, the warmth of their love fading into distant echoes. The knowledge that they are gone forever engulfs him in a sea of anguish, casting shadows on his every step.

In this clandestine existence, Alfred is but a flickering light amidst the encroaching darkness. He adopts an unassuming facade, engaging in menial tasks and discreet endeavors to sustain his survival. The sharp intellect that once defined him has been dampened by the weight of his grief, leaving him a shadow of the formidable intelligence analyst he once was.

Yet, even as the weight of the world bears down upon him, Alfred refuses to succumb to despair. His spirit, though battered, remains resilient, fueled by an unwavering hope for a brighter future. He toils ceaselessly in the shadows, driven by the belief that one day the world will shake free from the shackles of the Combine's tyranny.

Aleksanteri
They are my longtime friend, someone I have known since the moment I arrived in City 24. Our paths crossed at the beginning of my journey here, and we have been inseparable ever since. They have been there with me through it all, from navigating the streets of the city to surviving in the Metro. They hold a special place in my heart as the person who has been by my side since the very beginning of my time in this wretched world.

Abdul
One of the first rebels who didn't simply disregard me, but instead acknowledged my presence and provided me with a sense of purpose within the old district, rewarding me in return for my contributions.

Small adjustments to the backstory, emphasizing the reasons behind his fierce resistance against the Combine.

Removed the small bit at the end for Abdul (that mess of a situation got voided).
