(Images and info acquired from https://www.entropyzeromod.com/, once again inspired by the lore of Entropy: Zero, built upon by me.)

Arbeit is an old communications centre once owned by Germany, acquired during the events of the cold war, built within Antarctica a far distance away from any forms of civilisation. It was used to forward communications amidst the height of the cold war. It covers quite a distance of land, making up five different buildings; the main facility, the dormitories, the central comms centre, a supplies warehouse, and the office complex.
In 200X, Aperture Science acquired the facility, presumably in jealousy due to Black Mesa's purchase of a European Missile Silo. After Aperture had bought Arbeit for themselves, what the facility was being used for is completely unknown. Their complete isolation from civilization meant that they went under the radar almost entirely. The base is heavily guarded both on the inside and outside. Even as it is supposedly abandoned now, the threat of its built-in automatic defence system lingers around the perimeter.

The base is built a fair bit into the arctic terrain. It's assumed to be abandoned ever since the seven-hour war, although it isn't 100% confirmed. It can be theorised that the base may extend further underground, although there is no evidence to support this. The exterior looks fairly normal, and there are no qualities present that could be deemed out of the ordinary, at least, for the most part...
Strange thunderous roars emanate from around the area, and their source is unknown. Many disturbances are present in the atmosphere around the facility, causing interesting weather phenomena. This includes; unnatural weather patterns, interesting cloud formations, sudden changes in wind speed/direction with no natural cause, etc.

(Strange holes in the clouds above Arbeit)
After being discovered by Combine forces, interest in the facility had risen an expansive amount as of recently, and the mystery of Arbeit Communications is a hot topic. Should whatever is inside be unveiled, or left in the shadows? This question faces a lot of controversies and the difficulties just penetrating the bases auto-defences alone would require extensive use of resources. Many people wonder if the risk is worth it.
The base is monitored occasionally, and any new phenomena around the perimeter are recorded. Could the Combine be planning to break into the base? Do they know something about it that no one else does? There are many many questions that are yet to be answered about this place, if ever.
