As stated on the Q and A - All that you see here is told from the perspective of a typical Vortigaunt Scholar in the Modern Era according to the visions that they see in the Vortessence. Due to the Vortessence having a somewhat fallible nature at times due to millennia of Vortigaunts and Grand Elders making these stories seem far more grander then they actually were - much of this could be nothing more then myth and legend. There are elements of this that tell a innate truth though, but you would likely be unable to tell the difference between the truth and what is nothing more then myth.

A more skeptical individual may even think that perhaps none of this is the truth and all of it is nothing more then a fantasy devised by the desires of Grand Elders.

That is up to you to decide ICly.

Following several generations of evolution, the history of the Xenotherium subservilia officially began at the heart of a region thick with heavy vegetation and natural resources. This region would go by many titles during the early days, but the label of ‘Land of the Weavers’ would be the one to last the longest. Enter the Ooz'Merian Realm. The region would become the cornerstone of Vortal history and cultural development for many years to come. It is here that we can witness the very first aspects of Vortal civilization come into existence. Aspects such as early tribal dynamics, enhanced communicational skills, and societal roles, all become present during the first few generations of the ‘New Weavers’. With the development of these new characteristics of Vortal life comes newly discovered aspirations and side effects. Population counts flourish, generational information is conveyed, and the dawn of a new era surrounding the existence of the Vortessence is beginning to become established.

The Elders from the early days established a consistent lore surrounding the Vortessence. A lore which was heavily instilled upon several generations of new Vortal entities that were spawned over the eras. It was established that deep within the heart of the Ooz'Merian Realm resided a singular Vortal being. One of an abstract and powerful nature. It was said that this singular entity known as Rok’Shan’Vass (⏁⊑⟒ ⍜⋏⟒ ⎎⍀⟒⟒ ⋔⏃⋏) or ‘The Grandfather Weaver’ was the first to ascend into the Vortal realms known as the Vortessence to combat and quell the raw and undefended power that reigned supreme within the region. Upon doing so, the Weaver was able to create an influx newly quelled power across all aspect of life itself. Every region, every universe, every atom of life itself was to be among the grand coil established by Eok’Shan’Vass. It would be within this Vortal Paradigm in which The Grandfather Weaver would await the return of all life that was once released from his claws, so that they too will breathe new life into the reality of future generations.

This was this lore of creation in which the very first inhabitants of the Ooz'Merian Realm were instilled with during the Early Days. The exact origin of such lore is difficult to isolate. Much of which was transcribed from written creations associated with Elders of such eras. Nevertheless, it was these founding origin story that led to the development of some of the very first clans and tribes of the Old World. The Kay'Basar Kinsmen and the Sha'Gani Warriors of Ralsheck'Va. The point of origin for the likes of the Vortigaunts within the region.

The Ralsheck'Va Plains during a dark and mysterious set of distortions.

The Kay'Basar Kinsmen of the Ooz'Merian held the supreme title of the one true collection of Vortigaunts for a great deal of time, but it was not destined to remain this way forever. There was a growing collective that wished to expand, press on, and evolve as a society into new regions. It is here that faint hints of alternative agendas begin to become prevent. Two major figureheads would be responsible for the first major expansion into two new territories. Aldu’Ragnak (⏁⊑⟒ ⏚⟟☌ ⊑⟒⏃⎅), leader of the warrior collectives of the Ooz'Merian would seek to obtain the permission of the Elders to venture West into the adjacent Ralsheck'Va Plains to defend against the growing threat of the Nal'Damer Antlion Hordes. Grand Elder Gruel’Don gave forth the blessing needed for this expansion and deemed the forces to be a temporary defensive colony to protect the larger bulk of the Ooz'Merian realms. This however was not the final result of the collective. As over the years, the collective of warriors would grow and thrive on the outskirts of the Ooz'Merian and establish a new society of warriors and hunters. Around the same time, there was an additional growing collective. Lead by Sage Takar’Io (⏁⊑⟒ ⋔⏃☍⟒⍀), this additional group sought out to explore the mysterious Norther region that had yet to be properly documented by the Vortal collective. This however was given much pushback by the Kay'Basar, the Elders saw not wisdom in traversing what was presumed to be an inhabitable region for their kind. Nevertheless, against the wishes of the higher collective, Takar’Io lead his collective onward, taking hundreds of once faithful Kay'Basar into the Northern regions of Duvan'Merda where they would go on to live out their lives as El'Tuk Artisans, beginning yet another new society of Vortal beings. This would pave the way for the beginning of a complex and trying era of conflict.

The first and early landscapes the El'Tuk Artisans were greeted with upon entry to their new homelands of the Duvan'Merda Region

Feeling threatened by the expansion of not one but two additional Vortal societies that had expanding outside of the realm of influence located within the Ooz'Merian, the Elders a degree of slight, the grip that once was was beginning weakening. The way of the Kay'Basar was one of unity under the vision of the One True Weaver. If division was possible for the likes of the El'Tuk Artisans and The Sha'Gani Warriors of Ralsheck'Va, what hope was there in keeping such unity? Division was chaos, division was uncertainty, division was an obstacle. An obstacle that needed to come to an end.

Parallel to this, new ideas surrounding the Vortal Lore of Creation as established among these new societies and tribes. Without the oversight of the Elders and their shawmen distributors of such knowledge, new takes on such lore were at the forefront of discussion. Was Rok’Shan’Vass a real entity who tamed the Vortessence singlehandedly? Where is the point of origin for the Vortessence itself? These inquiries would become the casus belli for the Kay'Basar of the Ooz'Merian realm.

The collective of Elders deemed these alterative perspectives and teachings to be a threat to the collective One True Vortigaunt and the well-being of all who resided under the Ooz’Merian. Thus, the Alvandian’Quenuk (The Brother-Weaver Heresy) was deemed to be far too treacherous to be allowed to persist. Of course, this was far from the intention of the El'Tuk Artisans and The Sha'Gani, for they wanted only to walk a new course of life as an independent entity of Kay'Basar teachings, not the Vortessence itself. Regardless, the dawn of the First Kin War had begun. At first the Kay'Basar Elders turned towards the Sha'Gani, seeking to converse and convey their teachings as the alpha means of the survival and preservation of their species. The Sha'Gani however cared little for the likes of their dogmatic teachings and would not be swayed otherwise. The Sha'Gani maintained defensive holds upon the adjacent regions and did not advance. Not wanting to risk losing their best defenders and engage in combat with the best of warriros their species had come to know, Kay'Basar leaders turned their attention North towards the likes of the El'Tuk. It was on this Norther border region the first of fighting began. Deemed to be the major facilitators of The Brother-Weaver Heresy, combat rang consistently among the region for several years. Despite not possessing any major desire to engage in the likes of combat with and alternative collective, the El'Tuk felt a new found responsibility to defend their new-found homeland with a vengeance. It was never the goal of the El'Tuk to bastardize the word of the Kay'Basar Elders, but this was a convoluted matter that was thousands of years in the making.

Clear skies grace the entire Sanctuary following an end to the prolonged conflict that once was.

Years of conflict and battle were fruitless in yielding any substantial change. Eventually the Kay'Basar conceded the conflict and would go on to formally recognize the independence of the two new societies. Proclaiming that the conflict was a staple of a larger plan to “Assess the endurance of one’s people in the eyes of the Vortal realm”. There was a tremendous deal of pride associated with the El'Tuk, feeling a strong degree of personal responsibility in defending what they believed was the next step needed to proceed with the evolution of their people. The Sha'Gani were also deemed to be independent, but held far closer ties to the Ooz'Merian realm and its inhabitants as distance yet close defenders/protectors.

Over several generations, these societies would mend the wounds of the first Kin War with various diplomatic acts and shows of appreciation. Trade routes were established to introduce new goods and luxuries to distant regions across the planet. Distant tribes would pay physical visits to explore these new lands that their distant Kin had come to call home. Despite the fact that there was peace once again, there was an underlying theory associated with the positions of the leaders of the Kay'Basar. That they continued to felt slighted by the work of the new civilizations across the land. Alterative theories associated with the Vortessence were now wide spread and even becoming frequent within the Ooz'Merian. To the old and faithful of the Kay'Basar, this was fay beyond a cultural disgrace.

But all the while, within the far and still unexplored reaches of the Eastern planes, something beyond comprehension was churning the winds, and brining about a new age of change...

The first contact made of The Es’Penoid’ Rapid

Unexplained Vortex coils were visible from the highest reaches of the Ooz'Merian trees. Even the El'Tuk Artisans and The Sha'Gani Warriors could see such strange flashes of light and bright blue cracks of thunder echo from the distant lands. Some of the oldest scribes of the Kay'Basar proclaimed that the original text from the first of Kin warned of the distant lands for the dangers in which the region could inflict upon their Kin. Nevertheless, the collective wanted answers. Without consulting the other civilizations, the Sha'Gani gathered their finest warriors for an expedition into the vast reaches of the unknown. What they witnessed was unlike anything they had ever seen before. New plant-life, strange swamps that dawned a strange neon-blue liquid that was ripe with a strange and unexplainable energy. A vast array of tall trees were abundant across this mysterious plane which garnered small shelters with various connecting paths.

Upon gazing closer, they noticed no foreign entities, but rather a familiar looking sets of peering eyes grace their presence.

It was a Civilization of Vortigaunts. A never-before seen collection of life.

Curious conversation was quickly engaged.

They called themselves The Alva'Sari Collective, and they had made their home in a place they referred to as The Es’Penoid’ Rapids. A wetland region of sorts. News of this quickly spread to the other civilizations back at home, shocking the masses that an entire other civilizations of Vortigaunts had persisted adjacent to them for generations without any knowledge of such. This was a groundbreaking revelation. History was quickly swapped as the wises and oldest of Elders from all collectives gathered to discuss and share knowledge of what they had come to discover about the prospects of life under the power that is the Vortesence. The bewildered groups were met with a astonishing array of claims and knowledge presented by this elusive collection of Grey skinned Vortgaunts. The The Alva'Sari Collective proclaimed that they were actually the oldest Vortigaunt collective that had graced Sanctuary. A very bold claim that was taken as something akin to an insult in the eyes of the newly appointed High Elder of the Kay'Basar Gen'Vas'Telram (⏃⌇⎅ ⍀⍙⟒☌⟒⍀☌⎅⌇). There was more to these claims however, as the Alva'Sari Collective were a very intellectual collective that demonstrated new levels of sophistication in comparison to the other civilizations of the era. The Alva'Sari had a well documented collection of historical artifacts, scribe based texts, and even archeological based responses to support their claims. Gen'Vas'Telram was appalled by these claims, believing them to be a fabrication in an attempt to re-write history and to downplay the Elder struggle of their own collective.

This was a far more personal matter.

The El'Tuk Artisans and The Sha'Gani however became close allies of the Alva'Sari Collective, drawing interest into their advance ways of living, cultural practices, and new takes on the source of creation that proved to be a far more effective way at understanding the Vortesence. Growing more and more disgruntled to what he perceived to be the continued tarnishing of the Kay'Basar legacy, Gen'Vas'Telram acted swift to avenge the fallen of the Brother-Weaver Heresy and restore the order found in the Early Days.

What occurred next remains highly debated among Vortal Societies even today, but the basic background is as follows.

A tribal style shelter, commonly constructed using methods developed by the El'Tuk Artisans.

There was a large scale collective of both Sha'Gani Warriors and El'Tuk Artisans that were traversing towards the Rapids to engage in Trade with the locals of the region. As some point during their travels, the caravan was ambushed, the resulting conflict resulted in the death of the entire company. Dozens upon dozens of Sha'Gani Warriors and El'Tuk Artisans were slain at the hands of an unknown offender. The Kay'Basar (moreso the likes of Gen'Vas'Telram), were swift to pin the blame of the Alva'Sari Collective, explaining that they sought out to take advantage of the feeble minds of the two lesser clans. The Sha'Gani Warriors concured with the word of Kay'Basar, buying into such claims with ease as Kay'Basar himself was a strong advocate for their warrior ways of honnor. The El'Tuk Artisans were not convienced. Some claim that the attack was staged by the Kay'Basar in an attempt to generate the means of a conflict, while others swear there was truth in the words uttered by Gen'Vas'Telram and his council. The Alva'Sari Collective quickly denied the claims of an assult on unprivoked travelers, but it was too late. The line in the sand was drawn and The Seconds Kin War had already begun. The Sha'Gani Warriors were much quicker to back and support the likes of the Kay'Basar, while the El'Tuk Artisans formed a defensive pack with the Alva'Sari Collective.

The Seconds Kin War was far worse than the First. It lasted twice as long and yielded a far higher number of casualties across all sides. For it was not an uncommon sight to stumble across fallen Kinsman while on your morning scavenge for sustenance. This was a conflict of both the Vortal Planes and the Sanctuary Throne of Power itself, as Gen'Vas'Telram proclaimed it to be the gateway to a new era of prosperous living.

"From these trying times, we shall ascend into an Era of greatness. Just as The Grandfather Weaver himself did, we too shall combat the unclaimed, the undefined, and usher in the truth that is the way of The One True Vortigaunt."

-High Elder Gen'Vas'Telram to his Warrior masses of the Kay'Basar and Sha'Gani

The will of Gen'Vas'Telram was beginning to yield results. The might of the two civilizations were beginning to become far too much for the likes of the El'Tuk and the Alva'Sari. While the Ooz'Merian were becoming expansive and packed to the brim with freshly spawned and envigored Vortigaunts ready to serve the cause, the numbers of the El'Tuk and the Alva'Sari were beginning to thin at a rapid pace. As a result of this desire for hegemonic domination through the means of controlling the word of law surrounding the Vortal existence known by all Vortigaunts, the El'Tuk and the Alva'Sari sought refuge in a reclusive lifestyle following an informal meeting to discuss an end to the conflict. Gen'Vas'Telram would go on to agree to hear such terms and law out the demands of him and his council.

Gen'Vas'Telram would allow the two civilizations to continue onward, but they were to cease their interfering with the likes of Sha'Gani and Kay'Basar affairs. The matter of lore surrounding the point of origin for Vortikind was to remain the responsibility of the Elder council in which Gen'Vas'Telram remained in control of. The Sha'Gani would remain an extension of the Sha'Gani Kinsmen and would also abide by specific terms outlined in the newly established Sanctuary codes. The El'Tuk and the Alva'Sari were to stay to their respective region as outlined by the territories in which they called native to their own.

This would be the price to be paid for the end of the conflict.

Begrudgingly, the two collectives accepted. Ending the Second Brother Weaver War with a not so clear victor in mind. While the Kay'Basar may have been the prime dictators of peace factors, the El'Tuk and the Alva'Sari had claimed far more lives during the conflict than the Kay'Basar had. Had the two civilizations had more forces to spare, history could have yielded a far different outcome than the one originally perceived.

High Elder Gen'Vas'Telram did what Grand Elder Gruel’Don could not.

Y6D6BaQ.png

Deep within the path towards the Es'Penoid Rapids

Following the Second Brother Weaver war, each of the civilizations persisted within a state of isolations for several generations. With only small collectives being brave enough to intertwine and trade with others from different walks of life. Each civilizations expended time and energy perfecting, refining, enhancing , and expanding in a variety of different ways. Kay'Basar shifted back into a more pragmatic state of being. Tribal dynamics reigned supreme. Village huts cluttered among the tall trees as populations continue to skyrocket. The way of Rok’Shan’Vass was back on top. Any talk or murmur of straying from such a patch was quickly snuffed out by the council and dealt with. Simple, yet effective. Unsophisticated, yet unified. Elegant, yet brutal.

The warriors of Sha'Gani continued to perfect their craft. Non-verbally respecting the wishes of their now larger and growing masters of the Kay'Basar councils, they continued to defend the realm for several generations to come. Heroes and legends had sprung from the Second Kin War and continued to inspire future generations of Vortal beings. They focused less so on infastructure and more on the individuals skills needed for one to survive off of little as possible. Similar in development to the Kay'Basar, but far better warriors above all else.

After a couple of years of silence, the El'Tuk and the Alva'Sari broke their silence following the outcome of the Second Brother Weaver War. Both civilizations mutually agreed in the vision see each other succeed. Trade opened back up and the two quietly began to rebuild and grow in isolation as the masses of Kay'Basar forces consumed even more territory along side their growing numbers. It was said that the tribal chants of the Kay'Basar during the Age of Prosper was so loud, it could have been heard from the far reaches of every nook the Old World had to offer.

This instilled a great deal of trepidation into the leaders of the El'Tuk and the Alva'Sari. Had they such the desire, the Kay'Basar alone could easily undo their civilzations like the pulling of a thread. Even without the assistance of the Sha'Gani, the Kay'Basar were far too large in population to handle. As tribal and close to the Early days as they were, numbers was the key to victory. The El'Tuk and the Alva'Sari had grown to surpass the Kay'Basar in cultural and technological aspects, but still could not muster the same population quantity as they did.

"We are the One True Vortigaunt. Hear me. See me. Drink your fill of life with me. Raise your claws in the name of Rok’Shan’Vass. Spread forth his knowledge in the taming of the Vortesence. Weave the truth as your Elders did and your Younglings shall continue to do. Press on in the name of Kay'Basar, to damnation with the false walkers!"

This philosophy sent the entirety of Vorikind into a state of passive existence. An existence that would remain woven into the very nature of Vortigaunts for generations to come. Better to adhere to the status quo, the higher powers, to maintain balance, preserve what was, than risk jeopardizing the future that is yet to be.

Sanctuary after the uniting of all Vortal civilizations

After several generations of mostly isolationism between the various civilizations, a new age dawned for the inhabitants of the Sanctuary. The Age of Reason, also known as the 'Golden Age' in which a final change in dynamic would occur. With the changing of High Elders over the many generations, the wounded brought about by the Second Brother Weaver War had seemingly held. A proposition was proposed on behalf of the Kay'Basar council to the other civilizations of sanctuary. If they were to formally acknowledge and accept the teaching of the Early Days and ways of the 'One True Vortigaunt' they too would reconvene and be accepted into the masses of the monolith society that they Kay'Basar had evolved into. Recognized as official entities of the Vortessence.

Though either a desire of not wanting to provoke an additional conflict or the genuine wishes to join with the larger collective, both the the El'Tuk and the Alva'Sari accepted.

The Sanctuary was now Unified once again.

The El'Tuk and the Alva'Sari were allowed to keep their independent cultural practices and ways of operation, but now had to adhere to the code of the Kay'Basar. Under this age, all civilizations prospered. Populations on all fronts flourished, clans knew nothing but abundance of sustenance and accouchements for what seemed to be the end of days. It is under this age, the modern Vortigaunt was forged. The noble yet intricate nature of the Vortigaunts had been refined though a long and convoluted history. One that has been the subject of changes, debate, and question, over the hundreds of thousands of years. Each collective excelled at what they did best. The Elders remained wise, the Warriors grew strong, the Artisans crafted wonders, and all were in tune with the ways of the Vortessence.

But the arrogance brought about by such luxurious ways of living and thriving came at a cost.

They never stood a chance when the Age of Armageddon dawned.

But how much of this rings true? History is not so much of what happened but rather what people say happened.

And what the Vortigaunts speak of in regards to their Old World history is yet to be spoken.

As a disclaimer I'll quote this last bit so nobody misses it.

From the perspective of the Vortessence everything can ultimately become myth and legend...
