Character name: Amélie Faye

Which city are you applying for: City 57 (Brussels)
Character Moral alignment (Lawful Good, Lawful neutral, etc.): Lawful Evil

Outline a few points through bullet-points on how you are intending to play your character during the Event.

The Combine Are Our Future.
Amélie is a hardcore rational loyalist who considers the Combine and the technological leap they bring to humanity as the only way for humans to survive. She will argue you into the ground if you try to claim there is any hope for mankind without the Combine. She is also of the firm belief that the Combine know much better on what humanity is to do and will do whatever it is they require her to do without question. Given that and her background in engineering, it is by no means an accident she ended up running C57 where a lot of the Combine's technological manufacturing happens.

Thoughtcrime is death
There is no room for rebels, dissidents or 'fake loyalists' - those who are only a loyalist for their own gain. Anyone who stands in the way of the survival for mankind is to be dealt with by any means at any cost with no quarter given. During the day the Overwatch Forces wage war against those who openly oppose the Combine within City 57, while at night OSI deals with those who dare only speak wrongly behind closed door. City 57 may be unstable, but let there be no illusion that anyone will live to turn it into a full-on unrest.

Just the First Citizen
Amélie isn't a big public figure and typically the last person to flex her power or throw around her title. You'll most likely find she stole a Secretary's office rather than use whatever grandiose abomination is reserved for the City Administrator. One shouldn't mistake that for Amélie holding on influence: she very much likes having influence and be in control of things. If she isn't directly involved, she'll have a close political ally who is. Usually this works out well given Amélie is perfectly fine with letting most of the credit go to other people.

The End of Free Will
Politically speaking, Amélie is an extremist who would abolish most of humanity's free will, believing it to be the only way we'll ever stop fighting each other. She is very careful to publicly appear much more moderate though, knowing that even within the CCA there are enough people who would disagree with such drastic solutions. Instead, she will heavy push for 'unification' simply by eliminating those who stand against it and strongly supports transhumanization.

OOCly, what is your motivation for joining this series?: I always liked the idea of short stories and believe it has really missed out on Combine-sided events. I will be nice to see and take part in one, with the CCA being one of the two factions that are at the top of my list for such an event. Also a great opportunity for a brief return of an old loyalist/CCA character of mine.

Have you taken part in any quests on the Short Stories so far? If so, state which events: The long haul - all chapters - initially as Delilah Baker who got PK'ed in C3 and after that as Alice Bishop.

-TERMS AND CONDITIONS-
By putting my account name below I hereby agree to the following stipulations:

Should my character be removed at any point and the GM state so, it can't be appealed.
The event cannot be used as an excuse to exercise personal vendettas OOCly against others.
Breaking the rules or disrupting the event will result in being ejected from the series.
All rules regarding fear RP should be respected.
You will be at the heart of events that will have an impact on the lore - a serious attitude must be adopted at all times. This is not tongue-in-cheek like some of the Fates events. This is a deliberately serious series in terms of tone and content.
The GM reserves the right to eject you if he feels the rules have been breached.
The GM reserves the right to control the event.

Nobody has applied for City 13 yet.

Fungle is not applying for Raymond Arceneaux himself and is a separate character that will be attending this event by the looks of it.

These applications will not be reviewed for at least 32 more hours.

Which city are you applying for: City 13 (Paris)
Character Moral alignment (Lawful Good, Lawful neutral, etc.): Lawful Evil

Outline a few points through bullet-points on how you are intending to play your character during the Event.

* Arceneaux has grown to be a short-tempered person. Easily agitated by his rivals, Raymond is known for how easily he is provoked.
* Due to the nature of his less than popular goals, Raymond has become quite paranoid, relying only on his closest allies such as the District 26 Administrator Charles Cathelineau.
* Raymond seeks to bring back democracy in some shape or form. He has become aware that a full return to democracy is very unlikely at this point, but he hopes to keep his promise to the Frenchmen.
* The Administrator recognizes the Futurists as a threat to his cause, intending to move on the offensive against the two Futurist City Administrators from Sector Ten in the meeting.

OOCly, what is your motivation for joining this series?:
Quite honestly, I can already see that this will be a great event. I love the idea of an entire CCA meeting that will change the lore of the server from what I’m hearing, it sounds like it would be amazing roleplay to be remembered, and I’d love to be a part of it.

I have taken part in the Long Haul event line.

Victor Steen.png
Which city are you applying for: City 18 (Odense)
Character Moral alignment (Lawful Good, Lawful neutral, etc.): Lawful/Neutral Evil

Outline a few points through bullet-points on how you are intending to play your character during the Event:

Victor Steen is very much a member of the old guard and is one of the longest-standing Civil Administrators in the European Sector; this is no easy feat to accomplish, let alone maintain.

Machiavellian
'Steen is manipulative and shrewd; his ageing, frail form hides a brilliant - if wicked - mind.'

In his prime, Steen was a compulsive micromanager and held a tight grip on his cabinets and ministries once he came to power; as opposed to filling his staff roster with brilliance or ambition, Steen’s cabinets have always been full of meek bureaucrats who would rather bend the knee than oppose policy change. From the outside, Eighteen's CCA looks modest and professional. From within, Steen is absolute.

He has also tailored City Eighteen to be a loyalist 'paradise', and has attracted many quarternary industries, bureaucracy, and agency institutes to the city - although he plays his cards very close to his chest, Steen's influence leaks out much further than the glimmering walls of his Northern kingdom.

Baron of the North
'Steen's 'empire' remains neutral, for the moment. Although many think age may be forcing his hand, Steen hopes to back the right man and secure his Cities' legacy. Then, the benefactors may consider him too valuable to let taper out to old age.'

During his long reign, one of Steen’s crowning achievements is the inter-twining of City Eighteen and City Thirty-Five. Although a largely protested move in decades past, the co-dependency has since proven to be largely beneficial in cementing the North as a bulwark for the Combine. However, Steen has largely remained reserved and taciturn in modern political debates - he is currently neutral in the recent 'Futurist V Republican' debacle. Rumour has it that he is patiently watching and waiting for the right man to back with his influential powerhouse, but many think he can't wait too much longer. As his biological clock ticks onwards, his bodies' natural decay is beginning to out-pace human technological innovation - he must set the precedent for the continuation of his legacy sooner, rather than later...

OOC Brief Summary:

- Quiet, plotting, scheming character. A change-up from some of the more out-spoken, boisterous members of Willard's CCA climate.
- Seeking to profit from the current 'Futurist/Republican' debate; hopes to soon back a side directly with City Eighteen, and leverage political favors to get City Thirty Five on board too. OOCly hoping to engage with diplomacy with both groups and fire up some additional conflict/concern, whilst interacting heavily with other ministers in the north to secure alliances.

As a side-note, I'd be more than happy to work out some sort of co-operation with Atlas' or Dej's characters if only one of our applications could normally be accepted. I'd love to play as an administrator of a City I wrote, but I really don't want to take away the opportunity from another player who has put a lot of effort into their application (I have read both of theirs - they are very good!).

OOCly, what is your motivation for joining this series?: I’ve played most of the Short Stories events so far and have thoroughly enjoyed them. I was also the original writer for City 18, 35 and 58's lore - I’d be interested to see how other players interpret/change what I’d previously written to make interesting characters.

Have you taken part in any quests on the Short Stories so far? If so, state which events: Yes. All of the Long Haul event chain, and Dark Coast.

*note* This is just a reference to what I would make him look like.
Which city are you applying for: City 58
Character Moral alignment: Lawful neutral (Towards the combine)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outline a few points through bullet-points on how you are intending to play your character during the Event.

- Lawful neutral towards the combine. He carries the same ideals and will do what is asked of him. However if possible he will do what he wants within the limits of the laws set out by the combine.

- He is rather blunt and straightforward, giving his opinion on most topics.

- Would rather listen first, talk later.

- He would defend his decisions unless he is forced to back down.

- Quite curious and would listen to other people's point of view on topics to gain insight.

-He would act egotistical due to the City being such a big import and export site for Europe. This in turn makes him think he is above most people due to his responsibility and what his city means, having a great sense of pride for himself and his city.

- Somewhat snobby due the City's class divide. He has adapted the personality of those of a "higher class"

-He is ignorant and somewhat blind to the problems of City 58. He believes that the class divide that is causing unrest will simply go away, not doing much if anything to help it. He calls the lower-class citizens “fools” and sees them as nothing more than a "worker ant" for his own colony of production.

-He sees other CA’s as equals and recognizes the power they have being trusted by the benefactors.

-Despite seeing other CA’s as equal's. However he looks down upon City 2 for losing control and blames the CA (Delmond Blake) for losing control. He may even call him incompetent.

- Despite many discouraging the use of chemicals in agriculture, he sees the use of chemicals in production vital to ensure the city can keep up with the demands of being one of Europe's crucial import and export cities and will do anything to keep that reputation alive.

- He actively supports the use of chemicals in many things. His curiosity making him go further and further with experiments in chemicals.

- Curiosity may get the best of him sometimes, supporting the growth of Xenian fruits to fuel his own curiosity of the Xen species, actively letting airborne Xenian roam the surrounding area to be observed and examined by combine scientists.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OOCly, what is your motivation for joining this series?:
I am a big fan of politics as a whole, I love the back and fourth of the debates watching people's argument crumble as its taken down bit by bit, and would love to be apart of the politics in Willard. The CCA has always interested me and to combine that with politics is amazing, I believe the event is going to give a great insight on the politics of Willard to everyone. Also, it's just going to be fun, it's going to be fun to watch the politics happen in front of you.

Have you taken part in any quests on the Short Stories so far? If so, state which events:
None. I have not taken part in any Short Story quests

Hello. I am Dog - best friend of humanity.

After taking a look at the accepted applications and the non-accepted applications, I have concerns about the quality gap. For example, the C35 application made by Robusted Seb'ster is extremely barebones and has no real character attached to it. I mean no offense, of course. Compare this to Stinky Rags, who has an extremely developed application with a very well-thought-out character and backstory. We also have another example, let's take a look at Mothra and Gr4Ss' application for C57. Again, Mothra made a very well-made application with a well-developed character with backstory and idea. Meanwhile, Gr4Ss' application is not as constructed.

For the people that I mentioned, this is in no way trying to harm or insult your writing skills. I greatly appreciate everyone's writing and their attempts in trying to develop a character. This is simply an observation that I am seeing. It feels as if the quality of the application did not matter at all. This feels extremely unfair to those who have made great applications with really thought-out characters.

Kind Regards,
A Very Fluffy Dog

After discussing with @Uranio regarding the individuals selected for this event I will have to unfortunately state that his decisions regarding individuals selected for this event are final. If you have any issues with this then I advise that you take it up with @Uranio and do not bother either I or the Community Managers in regards to this matter.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt in this Event Series and allowing him full autonomy to select who he wants for the roles.

You're tugging with my poor little heartstrings here - best hope that the real event's better organized than this :yudodis:

What's the point of letting people apply if you are gonna prioritize staff members. (especially when the quality of their app is questionable)

Mothra's was by far the most original, a puppet of their own cabinet. and it was Gr4ss's was chosen instead which reading it sounds like something from V for Vendetta or 1984.

come on guys. I heavily suggest a panel review these because this is kind of outrageous

no bias here guys!!!

also im adding this as evidence to my bias complaint

I absolutely think there should be a review made of all of the applications and an outcome made based not on one person's opinion that bypassed everyone else's; I think to say this wasn't bias towards certain sub-groups of the community is an absolutely laughable idea, anyone who thinks otherwise I'm at a complete loss of words with.

People like Mothra, Myself, Dej and Pineapple (Again, off the top of my head) clearly put so much thought into our applications. My own application had a total of 2500 words, of which I humbly think are of a decent quality.

I was beaten by a staff application with a total of 270 words.

Mothra's is a very similar situation.

I don't have any dislike for those that beat the players since they didn't decide the applications (I think), but it's very disheartening to feel mistreated in this way. Especially when people who should have had a say in the application process simply didn't have one, that's what annoys me. The fact despite people being so clearly unhappy with the outcome, people who weren't even involved are unhappy yet no one seems to care, also annoys me.

It paints a bad picture when regular players who are pouring their hearts out to make lore and content for the server are just thrown away because someone threw £5 at their screen; ultimately, the CA stuff was events that were shaping the server's lore, the server's player base and community-- it was providing roleplay for everyone and was made to change the political landscape of the server, hopefully creating lots of scenarios for everyone to work with. By picking people that clearly didn't care about that, at least reflective in their application, is a detriment to the server rather than the people you've denied, in my opinion, unfairly.
