There was a brief time where the Sewers had extremely high NPC spawns making it a treacherous place to go exploring. However the problem was due to the extremely high frequency you had situations where Gonomes would spawn in your face and maul you to pieces.

The sewers should be a hostile place so to remedy this I propose we restore frequent NPC spawns however, include a radius check on the spawns so players can clear a small area and then stop to roleplay and heal before moving on. This should strike a nice balance where locations that have people in them are less dangerous than raw untamed areas and will also give a subtle hint as to where any potential loot is.

I think it would help reinforce that the Sewers are a temporary place and not for long-term settlement.

Big agree, at least that something should be done and if this is a viable fix then great.

I loved how dangerous the sewers were in the first days, I know the barnacle was a big meme but it set the tone that "don't go down to the sewers if you don't have a reason to, this place is deadly"

If things keep going like this sooner or later half the server will be down there in the pockets of air.

I just want regular zombies to show up, and maybe rarely NPC headcrabs...

Consider this an acceptance. I'll find little designated hotspots and we'll spice up the danger level. It's becoming a GM hotbed these days.
