Name of the Admin you were banned by: @M!NT
How long is the ban for?: 3 days
The reason you were banned?: Using slurs ICly
Why do you wish to be unbanned?: Because I believe this was a mistake, this rule just got put in place after the server closed for 2 days, and I cannot believe I ever said a slur ICly within the last week.
Do you have any picture or video evidence to support your reason?:

I have to quote this rule for my appeal because I'm confused. The only time I recall ever saying something remotely considered a slur IC was when my character said, and I warn you:
"blackie"

So I quote the rules here, I'm just confused why my account has been banned for something which your rules says it allows. So long as it is not "used as an excuse to be overtly and unrealistically racist."

Now this happened around a week ago I should note. I'm not sure how far back your rules apply to things but this rule just got added under 24 hours ago, and even then I don't think what I said covers it. If there's something my character has said or did which you consider racist which I am completely unaware of please let me know and I'll either clear it up or if it is what you say it is, I'll own up to it. But as far as I can tell you, I am honestly stumped as to why I would be banned for three days for that?

This was in January 27th and the rules only just changed yesterday, how is that fair? The server is down for 2 days, making me miss Friday (peak day) for something my character said feels so out of place. Especially when, and I checked and read the rules before even making Walter Burton, and it said that ICly it's fine. I understand the rule change you made yesterday but how can you apply that to something I said or did in the past? That seems so unfair to me.

At this point you should just blanket ban all slurs and any form of IC racism because that rule set is so vague. How can you define what is and isn't being used in a way to bypass OOC restrictions? It is such a grey area and so poorly worded. But I'll stick with my defense of, it wasn't against the rules when I did it, so why am I being punished?

I also think it should be taken into consideration I wasn't directly antagonising anyone when I used those words IC. It was simply a "oh, that guy? that cunt? yeah i know him". not. "[ooc] your character is a cunt and so are you"

I hope you can see where I am coming from and can amend the rules to make it more clear.

The old rule implies that certain forms of racism or discrimination may be permissible in roleplay as long as they're not overly extreme or unrealistic. This directly suggests that offensive language like "fa**ot" used in-character might be allowed if not considered overtly offensive and used in a manner that doesn't directly violate the rule's intent or is deliberately being used in-character as a means to bypass the out-of-character rules.

The rule clearly states that a certain degree of racism is allowed, sure. It doesn't allow for slurs, which have a precedent for resulting in bans for as long as I can remember. The rules have been modified to clarify this.

The point I want to stress is that the rule was not clear to me when I made the statement. I do apologize if my words breached any guidelines you have in place. However, when I reviewed the rules prior to joining, it seemed evident that such actions were permissible in-character. It feels unjust to penalize me for something that wasn't explicitly outlined as forbidden. Frankly, I fail to comprehend how I could be banned for this. I implore you to consider a more lenient action, such as issuing a warning, although even that seems unwarranted given the lack of clarity in the rules at the time.

I've since had discussions with other community members, I've been informed that delayed bans are a recurring practice on the part of the administrative team. While I'm unable to validate this claim, I can assert that I acted in accordance with my understanding of the rules at the time. I wouldn't have made the statement if I had known it would break the rules.

Additionally, I appreciate any efforts made to clarify the rules to prevent similar misunderstandings in the future. While I acknowledge that my statement may indeed be inappropriate under the updated guidelines, it's crucial to recognize the ambiguity that existed under the previous regulations. I must ask that my ban appeal be granted, given the lack of clarity in the rules at the time of the incident.

I'd like to draw your attention to a screenshot of the rules before the recent amendment, explicitly prohibiting the use of slurs. It clearly stated, "IC racism is allowed, but is not to be used as an excuse to be overtly and unrealistically racist. Nor in a way to bypass OOC restrictions."

With this in mind, consider whether it's fair to impose a ban retrospectively for an action that was permissible under the previous rules but is now prohibited due to an update. If you were in my position, having abided by the rules as they were outlined at the time, would you believe such a ban to be justifiable?
