Name of the Admin you were banned by: Cengiz (I believe)
How long is the ban for?: 30 days
The reason you were banned?: Mass RDM
Why do you wish to be unbanned?:
As a foreword, I would like to ask for there to be some back and forth discussion here in the thread, as in the past when I have posted appeals on this server they are usually locked or denied with a massive textwall I can't respond to.
I was banned for opening fire on loyalists who attended the Security Council meeting. In particular, I shot down an aisle where the first two loyalists were blue band collaborators (AKA full Party members), with one wearing an Armed Service medal - indicating that these were full blooded loyalists, and that one had almost definitely killed people for the Combine. I also shot a purple banded man in a suit with a 'High Councilor' armband, which I think needs no explanation.
A number of red bands were also shot here as well. I believe the number of people I killed was somewhere around 8, though please correct me if I am wrong.
I will try and number the main points here and keep my rationale for an unban concise.
(1) This is in-character and perfectly sound in-universe
Real world collaborators of totalitarian regimes or radical groups have often faced horrible reprisals from their enemies. Obviously, the Combine puts every real world example of evil to shame - having killed billions, broken up almost every family, sterilizing the human race, et cetera.
I would seriously like someone to explain on the staff team why they consider it 'random' for a desperate sewer-dwelling terrorist group to shoot loyalists to this regime. These are people that all showed up to a rally of their own accord to support the Combine and engage with the regime's politics. Since the red band LP cap has also been raised, the lowest rung of these attendees have put a significant amount of time into the apparatus as well. I've tried to grind for LP before, and it is genuinely not easy to reach the number currently required for red; as such, I reject the idea that any of these people are citizens.
(2) There was tactical merit to shooting the loyalists
After we left the auditorium, the survivors immediately moved in to provide medical aid - including but not limited to an MCP agent, Willum (the in-universe equivalent of the Gestapo). This is an obvious justification for the shooting. Not only is it proof that these individuals were not 'just citizens' but going out of their way to save the lives of some of the most Combine-embedded and evil men in the room, but generally that we were correct in assuming that everyone inside was a potential hostile and in direct opposition to our goals here.
Opening fire on them also prevented or limited survivors from being able to give information on the identities of the Liberators. Not all of us were wearing facemasks during the attack; in this way, our decision making here is nigh identical to how witness sterilization is treated on the Combine faction - which is literally the definition of RDM in how it occurs, as opposed to this targeted attack.
(3) This was NLR
I opened fire fully aware that the people being killed were being NLRed. There was no malicious OOC intent to try and stack up PKs or hurt people's roleplay; the PK target of the attack, as discussed with Robert, was obviously the CCA and other major figures. As such, I opened fire on these people for the reasons above - both to keep the attack fully logical in character, both for my char and for the Liberators ethos in general, as well as to prevent interference which did later occur from the survivors.
Thank you for reading.
Do you have any picture or video evidence to support your reason?: I do have some that will be relevant here, but at the moment I cannot upload it due to file size, so I will try and describe it above then upload it in the next day or two.
Were there any witnesses who can help in this appeal?: (List the steam and/or character names of them or tag them) I think any of the Liberators could probably speak to the principles I am mentioning above, but generally in terms of 'witnesses' they were mostly focused on the CCA in the room, not what I was doing.
