So, first of all, i don't know if this is even possible to code. But i'll make my suggestion either way.

Ok, so this is pretty simple, i would like that if you were wearing a hat (construction hat, or something that isn't actually sticked to you head, a beanie wouldn't work, for example) or a helmet, and a barnacle grabs you, that the barnacle wouldn't actually grab you, but your helmet. This would help improve the realism and make people want to actually use helmets, wich right now rebels mostly don't, due to its lack of real use.

+1 if you like it
-1 if you hate it
:D

Cool idea, but the amount of code it would require is far more than the devs are going to want to spend on it.

Sounds cool on paper but in practice it would just make barnacles really non-threatening as you could defeat them simply by wearing a cheap hat. A change to barnacle mechanics so that they aren't certain death to unarmed people would be cool I guess, but it's not too high on the priority list and you would still want barnacles to retain some sort of threatening presence.

lmao for that same logic you can defeat a barnacle with a kitchen knife... My suggestion would just make it more realistic, and obviously you would lose the hat, so it would only work once. Still, there aren't that many "cheap hats" you can actually buy that could work with the barnacle..

Don't barnacles usually wrap around the victims neck?
Well in Half life alyx, if you wear a construction helmet, it takes the helmet, so i assume this idea would sork, since the first part of the body it touches is the head.

would be neat for this too work with combat and construction helmets

As much as I avoided denying this and tried experimenting with ways to accomplish it, it's unfortunately really hard due to Source™. Maybe we'll revisit this in the future, but for now,

Denied.
