'BLACK GOLD - THE LAST FRONTIER' - FEEDBACK THREAD

What did you enjoy most about the event today?
I enjoyed a lot rping with the vort tribe, being able to continue Julia's story regarding her trust with vortigaunts. Allowing her to fight alongside them and agssint the synths, I loved helping the camp and aiding in gathering more supplies such as water and food.
It was fun to find out what was behind the green gate, it was fun to solve the puzzle of the synths.
It was absolutely Terrifying to meet the yeti fcae to face trough a window.
And it was cool to pass out icly and come back awake later to find the camp in absolute chaos with zombies outside hitting on the windows and doors. It really set in an absolute walking dead atmosphere.

What did you enjoy least about the event today?

I think perhaps the mining camp got too much thrown at them, it was a tad too much in one day, antlion and zombies several times, a weird creature, a yeti and then finally a frog.

What do you want to see more of?

More horror, thriller and mistyc scenarios like the pillars.
What do you want to see less of?
Far too many guns, while the guns sadly are too one sided, some people own like 2 amaizng guns while a shit ton of people own very shitty guns or not at all. Leaving a lot of people to fight the npcs with meele and newly dying or some dying.

Is the Oil Baron a strong antagonist to the event thus far in his introduction?

Didn't have a run into him nor spoke to him but the fact we must work to keep our lives and to keep ourselves fed with rewards and materials sounds nice.
Was the first mining and refining operation entertaining?
Chaotic... Very chaotic but fun.
Also no one can drive a damn car..

Have the staff team and event runners been helpful to you / not helpful to you today?

Yes very much so

How would you rate the event in its entirety?
10 /10👌

10/10 flagged on my half-retarded biotic for the first time in months and immediately got told by a grand elder vort that i am prophesied to become a great warrior to save the world and my training must begin today (i just wanted to eat humans amidst the chaos)
Ah so this is what I missed by going to sleep early, well shit, I'll be ready for day 3 it seems shit's just getting better...

The Vort tribe plotline was awesome, genuinely one of the best moments I've had on Willard in a long time. Another action-packed day all around. My only concern is that now that the Obelisk puzzle is close to being solved and the camps are seeing increased hostility, I fear that we may be moving a little too fast in terms of side plots and events, leading to perhaps the upcoming weeks being blander unless the CT has more stuff planned.

Other than that, incredible job. Also Padre best character.

Hello everybody.

CT is going to be directly involving itself into the roleplay. Choices will be made, both with positives and consequences.

The thread will be locked for tomorrow. Really glad to see we knocked Day Two out of the park!

Today could only be described as Mad Max mixed with HL2 ep 2

and it was amazing

What did you enjoy most about the event today?

-Driving around with the other Oil Reavers and tormenting the workers
-The different camps working together to fight the oil reavers
-Seeing Weaver get sniped only for the Refinery overseer (who I had originally thought would be an antagonist) to come to the rescue
-Everyone working together to save Weaver's life, pulling off a Gordan Freeman-level mission to get the extract needed to save Weaver

What did you enjoy least about the event today?

I don't have any complaints about today, none.

What do you want to see more of?

Everything that happened today, I really want to do more with the Oil Reavers, I would also like to see the workers fight to reclaim the mines.

What do you want to see less of?

Nothing

Is the deteriorating situation providing a lot more benefit to your roleplay?

From the perspective of a GM, the deteriorating situation has forced people to work together, this has done wonders for RP.

If everything was peaceful I bet people would quickly turn on each other, having constant conflict forces people to cooperate.

Was the introduction of the Oil Reavers (the mad maxers) a powerful part of the event?

I really enjoyed playing as one, I loved customizing my car and driving around like a biker gang with the rest of the GMs, I hope the players had fun interacting with them too.

Was the antlion hive arc inspiring for the event, today?

It was 100% the best thing I have seen in a very very long time, the fact that a bunch of people was willing to charge into the second most dangerous place in the valley just to save their leader was amazing. The players could have easily let Weaver die but they chose to go all out to save him, it was amazing to see and I hope we can have more stuff like this in the future.

Have the staff team and event runners been helpful to you / not helpful to you today?

It might be a bit biased for me to say this, but the staff and CT have been amazing, the entire team is really enjoying doing all of this, I hope we can do this more often, it has been amazing.

How would you rate the event in its entirety?

What did you enjoy most about the event today?
Everything, the event was insane. This event has provided amazing story for my charather and INCREDIBLE ARC of her storyline that i wish i can return to city 24 to progress. I could say this now has adquired the same effort and RP as Maura Azure truly amazing experience of HL2RP.
It felt like playing for the first time.
What did you enjoy least about the event today?
I felt that too many people died, I understand that its supposed to be brutal But this has arrived to a point where i think there is simply no margin for error as any error no mather how small it is will get you killed. Even sprinting nearly killed me, i had to manage my stamina so well to avoid being shred by the antlions, ran over by the bandits or Thrown into the pit by the guardian. Perhaps the difficulty could be lowered to allow a small window of error
What do you want to see more of?
I cant even say what i want more since it is all simply amazing and the imagination of the staff seems to keep on going beyond!
What do you want to see less of?
Unecessary deaths perhaps too much of it.

Is the deteriorating situation providing a lot more benefit to your roleplay?

Yes very much so but it can only go so far before it becomes too much of course! as explained before deaths are racking up at an alarming rate that might make it unfun for some people or just not worth it.

Was the introduction of the Oil Reavers (the mad maxers) a powerful part of the event?

nothing more to say 🤟
Was the antlion hive arc inspiring for the event, today?
Absolutely! due to bad preparation and planning we suffered greatly! our mistakes costed countless lives...
Have the staff team and event runners been helpful to you / not helpful to you today?
👍 yes
How would you rate the event in its entirety?
Perhaps one of the best events to happen in HL2Rp?

The day Joseph James died by the very people he helped...
Great day for the event imo, lot of rp. Especially when I helped that bandit get to safety who helped me in return.
Awesome event thus far!

What did you enjoy most about the event today?

The siege on the Oil Reavers was a highlight! Organizing a massive group to go take down the men holding Alex Weaver hostage was rad AF! I also liked the whole Alex Weaver nearly dying arc. It was great sieging an antlion nest for some extract!

What did you enjoy least about the event today?

Honestly, that sniper, man! It facilitated a lot of roleplay, but I question the motives behind it! I'm excited to learn, though, I'm sure there's a good reason! I'd just hate for it to be someone just trying to cause a fuss without some really cool story and RP behind it! I'm sure it'll come to light after the event, though, so I'm really excited!

What do you want to see more of?

I had a blast running the Refinery shift! I set up papers with instructions, and some interactive prop set ups! My men had to move batteries around, pull on a little motor like a chainsaw, run barrels around! It was great!
I want to see more unity between camps! There was an amazing opportunity for a speech at the end of the day, and the Overseers talked about combing the camps into a single nomadic compound, doing all the mining and all the refining together, so that they don't get picked off one by one!

What do you want to see less of?

While the Oil Reavers were cool, for me, they took me out of it a little bit! They didn't feel entirely tonally resonant with the rest of the event, but I still vibed with them!
I also want to see less minging and stuff; I know Acastus got in trouble for mingegrabbing, but some dudes just IMMEDIATELY stripped Padre down when he died. This was their ally, not an enemy they killed. Feels kind of sad that they were fighting over his resources OOCly, rather than IC, which would be cooler - it's a harsh world in Alaska, people would loot even their friends, but they should fight over it in character.

Is the deteriorating situation providing a lot more benefit to your roleplay?

Deteriorating situation? Refinery prospers, what do you mean? But seriously, yes. I love having to put out about 30 fires a day, and getting punished for missing even a single one. That's not a joke, I'm loving trying to thrive despite an extremely PK-happy event with harsh consequences!

Was the introduction of the Oil Reavers (the mad maxers) a powerful part of the event?

It inspired some powerful events, but it felt a bit railroady! They were entirely resistant to ANY form of bargaining, even types that were preferable to their current situation. Ultimately, I'm happy, though, because it led to a lot of IC unity! So, yes! Kinda hope it's a one and done deal though!

Was the antlion hive arc inspiring for the event, today?

We lost so many lives to save Weaver... And we'd all do it again. It was awesome.

Have the staff team and event runners been helpful to you / not helpful to you today?

Yes, extremely! Sometimes tickets can take a little while, but they always can, so no biggie! I almost always got help, and very rarely had a ticket ignored, so it's been great! The events have all been awesome!

How would you rate the event in its entirety?

So far? It's back up to 9/10 on day three!

What did you enjoy most about the event today? I sadly logged off the event since it was getting late, but I still absolutely loved it. Especially when we were hugging the walls while transporting radio stuff in order to not get detected. Shit was scary as fuck.

What did you enjoy least about the event today? FLYING SENTIENT RUBBLE IN COMMS CAMP

What do you want to see more of?
I'd like to see more events that would happen in BST
What do you want to see less of?
idk

Is the deteriorating situation providing a lot more benefit to your roleplay?:
Yes! I loved going to the medbay in the mining camp to have to MedicalRP, it was cool and that no one had really any resources thus making the game harder.

Was the introduction of the Oil Reavers (the mad maxers) a powerful part of the event?: I logged off when this happened so I dont know

: very helpful! Maybe they took some time to accept reports, but its been good

What did you enjoy most about the event today? I finally got to meet a Grand Elder after I went to sleep much earlier in day 2, he renamed my vortigaunt and told me he has the destiny to master the usage of all vortal and non vortal weapons.

What did you enjoy least about the event today?
I woke up today at 6AM BST just to find out that at around 3AM BST an ENTIRE QUEST WAS MADE TO GATHER EXTRACT... I am very frustrated that I missed something that major because of my timezone

What do you want to see more of?
I'll leave this to CT's to figure out, They've not missed once this entire event yet

What do you want to see less of?

Major expeditions and moments that are entirely unacessible to certain timezones unless I willingly destroy my sleep schedule

Is the deteriorating situation providing a lot more benefit to your roleplay?
Having a human bring me the corpse of a vortigaunt from inside his camp just for me to then go and bury him at the front of the vort cave basically half a map away really brought the point home that things are getting extremely out of hand, Im immensely excited to see where this all goes from here.

Was the introduction of the Oil Reavers (the mad maxers) a powerful part of the event?
For the vortigaunts? barely mattered, got ordered by another member of the tribe to stay put and watch from afar, I didnt even manage to see any of them besides their cars.

Was the antlion hive arc inspiring for the event, today?
After reading Rad-X's post apparently that arc had to do with saving Alex Weavers life? If so I was not present at all for that, it was a human questline

Have the staff team and event runners been helpful to you / not helpful to you today?
They've been as helpful as they can be with a constant stream of 60 peopl on the server, I wholeheartedly appreciate their work <3

How would you rate the event in its entirety?
This day is a 7/10, 2 points less because of me being quite disappointed I couldnt enjoy such a major questline due to my timezone

Oh shit, yeah! Wanted to say! I know we all have fucked up sleep schedules, but I happen to be fixing mine. I wish more of the event stuff would happen in like... A 3pm-11pm time frame, rather than the current 7pm-3am

Oh shit, yeah! Wanted to say! I know we all have fucked up sleep schedules, but I happen to be fixing mine. I wish more of the event stuff would happen in like... A 3pm-11pm time frame, rather than the current 7pm-3am
I stayed up till 3:30am taking part as a character to help out with the extract. A lot of us wouldn't go offline until it finished, haha.

Died twice and got PK'd twice.

But yeah, we can *try* to do more in the 3pm - 11pm timeframe. It's just between 3pm and 7pm BST / GMT, playercounts are minimal until a load of people arrive.

Anyway, thread locked for tomorrow ;P

I'll use my Admin powers to cheat and post in a locked thread just to address the timezone issue.

We're trying to host what events we can where we can, however a significant margin is player-caused. In regards to the Extract mission, every bit of that particular event was done by players, including the sniper himself (some people think he's an admin, he isn't). Us GMs were getting ready to wind down when players themselves launched the mission for the Extract, so I had to come up with a plan of action for what we were going to do GM-wise on the spot even whilst players were already entering the mines.

So, rest assured, we try to do what events we can in reasonable timezones but some of you are super smart and launch missions on your own initiative.

THE MINING CAMP WAS ABANDONED. THE REFINERY WAS SURROUNDED.

THE VORTIGAUNT TRIBE HAVE AWOKEN THE DARKNESS.

MANY LIVES WERE LOST ACROSS THE VALLEY'S TREACHEROUS PATHS.

COMMUNICATIONS IS THE FINAL BASTION. THE FIRST TO SUCCUMB, THE LAST TO STAND.

SYNTHETICS ROAM THE LAND, IT IS THEIRS TO CLAIM.

THE BARON HAD TO SEE FOR HIMSELF... HIS IGNORANCE FOILED HIS AMBITIONS...

THE AEONIC ENGINE IS REPAIRING ITS DEEP WOUNDS. A NECRONIC MACHINE, BACK TO LIFE.

THE BUNKER REMAINS SHUT.

... DAY FIVE IS IMMINENT ...

Is the direction of the event by player agency from both citizens and Vortigaunts exactly what you had in mind?

Do you believe the event is too bloodthirsty, or too forgiving, or just perfect in PK balance?

How would you rate the event in its entirety?

This is for day 3. I was unable to write it at the current time. I am sorry.

What did you enjoy most about the event today?

What I enjoyed about the event was largely personal: My character had been found themselves embroiled into a situation where other people naturally acted on their character, and by consequence it resulted in friction with mine and another character's morals and ethics. It allowed for a phenomenal amount of passive roleplay which built on our characters extensively and may lead to a natural divergence given time and if everybody survives.

On an enlarged level, I enjoyed the aspects of how responsive the GM team has been with player's actions. People being able to decide what they wish to do and having to deal with the fallout of their choices has been a fundamental drive to the storyline. I really appreciate the autonomy given.

What did you enjoy least about the event today?

It was on a technical and personal level but I don't enjoy my GPU running hotter than 65c. It was during the Oil Reavers event where there was a lot and it made my GPU spike. Upon realizing this I simply moved away which prevented me from engaging further but I still had a lot of fun with it.

What do you want to see more of?

Keep doing what you're doing. Ambiguity aside: You've all been performing wonderfully and everyone who've I've talked to and interacted with are simply glowing with praise with how you're all handling the event. It certainly blows C24 out of the water.

What do you want to see less of?

There's nothing I feel particularly aggrieved against. My lament above in the previous section; about what I enjoyed the least, is something personal and I both expect and want no change where it may interfere with other people's roleplay or the scenes you wish to portray. Again: You've all been doing phenomenally.

Is the deteriorating situation providing a lot more benefit to your roleplay?

The deteriorating situation has been propelled by player choice, with active participation having to be taken by others to ward off a lot of issues. Sometimes it seems empty-handed, but the reason why such things are in vain is because of other player's choices; and the GM team are still giving players the autonomy to react and interact.

It feels like a few missteps and everything will fall apart. There's a good amount of overlying threat to everything and everyone. And the pressure has been intense but it has provoked a lot of good roleplay and interactions.

Was the introduction of the Oil Reavers (the mad maxers) a powerful part of the event?

Despite having to flee due to personal problems about my graphics card (which are simply borne from paranoia and past incidents, I assure you; nothing really substantial, again) I still was able to interact with the Oil Reavers on a level with their leader. However what I had my own issues with was if it was enjoyable for the admin who was occupying the character as I don't wish to make anyone's roleplay unenjoyable and a chore.

Other than person misgivings about myself, the Oil Reavers present a unique threat to the valley and theirinclusion into the event makes me wonder where the storyline would progress, and I am personally wondering if there's any truth in the Leader saying a reckoning will come; by the perpetual road ragers.

It was certainly a powerful part of the event. Alex Weaver was shot, which I believe to be connected, died, and in the process of being revived a camp was lost and near a dozen people died. It cannot be denied that in my eyes this was the most powerful part of the event so far.

Was the antlion hive arc inspiring for the event, today?

I was not present for the Antlion Arc due to IC. Being needed elsewhere and then IC consequences prompting my character to unknowingly further distance himself and another from the actual event.

But I will say that just hearing about it, even with so much death, there has been almost sheer reception in how good it was. Even in my own mind this was entirely organic in events, cohesive in admins organizing it. It was absolutely and utterly unprecedented from both my experience and reading about previous events. You've all outdone yourselves.

Have the staff team and event runners been helpful to you / not helpful to you today?

A DM was requested early in the day to oversight an expedition in obtaining 'off site' equipment for the Comms station. It led to an encounter where we avoided the 'Yeti' and made our way to mining with it, ironically Comms being repaired largely. This equipped Mining with both communications to Refinery.

The Staff team has been very generous in hearing out my requests and responding to them. I am very appreciative of all the effort you guys are doing.

How would you rate the event in its entirety?

10/10 as always.

I will miss Joseph James.

On an appending note, I would like to say that I have been exempt in my activity with Day Four. This has nothing to do with the administrative and creative team, or things pertinent to the event. The reason for my joining to early disappearance was precipitated on a change and implementation within the code. Though I am, and profess, I've a tendency to overreact.

It happened within early morning hearing about the 'bug' involving weapons. I did not mind this until Tulugaq journeyed back to meet with others within the mining encampment. There, with Antlion NPCs I realized the problem which meant that I could not reload or access the ammunition he had. This led to changes within the character that were spur of the moment but I considered it Out-Of-Character for him to be a bit breaking, both in circumstances which prompted and his actions thereof of engaging with Antlions with a machete. During this time I went AFK inside the building to see about a complaint thread that was made by someone, and came back to being near death because someone had opened the door and led to me being almost into critical.

Journeying upstairs I found RAD-X instructing people on the new ammunition system. I found it to be troubling on how I would be having to continuously request administrators for ammunition in regards to my gun, and that I do not want to pester people so subsequently took my leave before everything within the valley transpired and announced in L-OOC that I'll be heading out, then left.

I do not attribute the implementation of such code as anything malevolent. It is, in my mind, just a poor situation of when it was implemented halfway into an event. I'll be seeing (and hoping) if anything changes.

What did you enjoy most about the event today? Comms being the last camp standing, fuck yeah!!!
What did you enjoy least about the event today? Literally so much good events happen when I log off

What do you want to see more of?
Maybe more events suited for more timezones, so that more people can witness them
What do you want to see less of?
I dunno

Is the direction of the event by player agency from both citizens and Vortigaunts exactly what you had in mind?
I wasnt there at the event sadly.

Have the staff team and event runners been helpful to you / not helpful to you today?
Helpful as always

Would love to see some events or SOMETHING for us gmt that play from 3-11pm, the reason that the server is not very full around those times is because most GMT people know that nothing is done until EST people hop on. Other than that its good

I leave the server ,wake up to see that comms is the last camp , which i missed due to my timezone
