Blackmarks Defined / Appeal to Unjustified Punishments

That’s exactly what they were.
Throwaways whose only purpose was to spout exposition and die.
That was the clear end goal (Dying) + (Radical Terrorist talk about Krah)

They weren’t roleplayed characters, they were made specifically to die.
But when we have week or two week characters played by actual players acting as informants getting snubbed instantly and their entire developing plot voided.

Imagine if you weren’t a Eventer and those dudes who walked into the theater were just normal players with the same age, about 30 mins and they started flashing grenades or guns around. How fast they would be snubbed oocly and immediately suspected of being throwaways. What we got is qualified immunity since you can /event things. Therefore you are trusted. And can force developing scenarios to happen when you have the oocly knowledge that the class wasn’t guarded. Since we can argue that you metagamed by exploiting a weekness you saw on your event character or through the esp. Made a throwaway specifically to target the class and then gave yourself scripts to facilitate it.

They...spouted about the krah? How would they know about it?

Its the problem with fake ten minute old characters who are given scripts that take normal players a month or two weeks of grinding to even start scratching the surface.

And how these throaways can have very real negative consequences because it was thought up on a whim by a eventer with all of their advantages. It should be the players with the eventers enabling them with a guide and job or objective for them.

It shouldn't be the eventer using their privilege's to give themselves items they haven't earned.

I wouldn't have a problem with this if these event characters hired a player character to do it. Therefore it has some essence of a player doing it instead of a nameless -Destined to die- throwaway.

Its equal to four eventers creating rebel characters. Just to suicide in a frontal assault and in your words. "Liven things up". Which is far. Far worse.

If you have complaints in regards to event characters and their applications, use the appropriate channels, i.e the main complaint section, not this one. Don't have it veer off of the original topic!

Anyway, I'm gonna give my quick two cents on the matter -- it won't be a super long post. Simply put, it's an in-character issue. If you want you can stop reading now.

Moving on, your character is unfortunately dead from what I've read, but that's why the PK appeal section exists if you have grievances about that, so I won't take that into account for now.
What I'm about to talk about refers to blackmarks, punishments, your suggestion and a little bit about your allegations on Hiros.

As stated above, punishments are an in-character issue. They are a reflection of the players' characters and their intentions.
As long as no server rules were broken and everything was done in good faith, there is absolutely no reason or way for punishments to be resolved out-of-character, as it circumvents roleplay - the lifeblood of the server.

There is a litany of things you could do that I won't delve into in the interest of keeping this post short enough as it was already mentioned.

About your suggestion -- what constitutes punishments won't be delineated on for the sake of the faction management's sanity and to allow players' characters to decide -- it's kept broad for this reason. Additionally, we don't want things to devolve into rulelawyering, as it just complicates things and leads to extensive arguments that leave both sides sour.

About your complaint on Hiros. It's Willard's policy to allow people the freedom to portray their characters however they want with minimal interference. We won't encroach on that Atle-given right, provided it's all done in good faith.
If you think Hiros has his characters act bloodthirsty because he's bloodthristy out-of-character, feel free to write a complaint on him or talk to him yourself.
Besides, ClapTrap and a few others have already made the point in regards to this (the PK and its reasons), so I won't repeat it. Your only retort in that case is that you think it should've been done otherwise, which isn't something we can productively respond to, as our stance is different to yours.

I believe things are going to stay as is, of course in the end it's up to the CP leads. Personally, I don't think this thread has much reason to continue as everything was answered, but you can continue voicing your concerns if you want to.

Again, if you want to appeal your PK, use the PK section. If you want to appeal your punishment, do it in-character.

I shall present something that most servers have to prevent abuse of events. (this example is specific to one server I have played on) A event auth is a thing. It goes like this: minor events like a little text or responding to something sent to staff IC can be done by admins or mods with admin perms; anything else needs to either be A. good for the round in the moment (IE. good faith, what this server seems to do) or B. authed beforehand. This system provides a format for requesting event auth and ranks up in requirements as the involvement and complexity increases. Now this is for a game where it is round based (each round is separate and restarts each time a goal is done) and thus is a bit less concerened with major stories and week to month old characters. Now this is a HL2RP server where a wrong move can get a year long character killed in a second, I would think you would have a requirement for a prior auth process to first; avoid in-the-moment events that do not need to happen or not all have fun with (not just the people on the receiving end), second; to allow for more review and refining as well as being able to possibly hold votes (votes is iffy because of meta possibility) and just generally being more open on what the plan is, third; just letting staff do whatever and then let them explain after should only be if it was wrong or a lot of people don't agree with it. If people are not liking it, it does not matter that you are staff, it is the playerbase that goes first. Even if it was IC not a throwaway it is still OOCly one. You can't just say, "oh it was to 'spice' things up". Why would people need that if it results in long lasting effects? I get making more thick plot but if it does not do that and only adds difficulty that seems like forcing difficulty onto someone who had no other choice but to be in that situation. I get higher alert levels, those can be adjusted to such as; don't be dumb and just be slow. But a sudden situation where there is no time to act and no way to just go with it and not die or risk losing something seems unfair. As your questions state in the start of any new player, "Is RP fast or slow". RP is slow, but there are moments when it is fast, that is for prepare able situations or ones that change the fate of the story (IE. infestations, bombings, shootings of CCA) these all were to my knowledge made by players, most likely with auth asked before. In short in other games and servers, sure the changes can make a round that was hard to set up fail, but you can get another chance in at least the week. Here you have characters that have months to years worth of development and dedication, using a throwaway or a "reserve" character makes the staff risk little to nothing while the player gets all their lore and effort gone. Now this is different if it was an informant or someone ICly and OOCly doing this as a non event character, these have reason to be made as there is proper development time and for informing; the players know they could get a PK or action against them for doing their action, there is no wonder to why they suddenly got put in the situation. And I believe that in some of these described event situations, there seems to have been no disclaimer that it was fine if you died, most of the time events that cause death or major action (like a purge) come with a reinsurance that the players will at least get NLR. I get you want spice but don't force it onto people, I get having a block inspection or a bombing to people who are in actual high risk situations like high up CCA (they would ICly be targeted almost weekly if not daily if seen out and about) but more minor characters that still have the effort do not expect their character to be at such risk. In conclusion, just set up some sort of event auth system to prevent these arguments from happening in the future.

Holy fuckin’ yap. This shit was resolved page one. Everyone just wants to post a huge fucking textbox of shit that doesn’t matter.

Gonna lock this thread because it's going off topic despite my request to keep it on topic in relation to the original post. Use the appropriate forum sections to voice your concerns/suggestions/whatever in regards to event characters/events, not the Overwatch/CivPro Complaint section. Ty.
