Howdy! This is as much a ban appeal as it is sortof just a clear-up for my characters' in-game conduct over the past few weeks. The ban's only like, less than a week long so it's not like I think I can't wait out that time, I just wanted to clear some things up and maybe inquire into the process of how bans are done around here, since the way I roleplayed was based on how I expected that if I broke the rules, I would get some kind of warning beforehand if I was breaking them. If I can get unbanned, great! If not, I hope you atleast understand, as I felt like I should've appealed out of principle and I don't want you fellas to think I'll be a problem for you in the future.

How long is the ban for?: 1 Week
The reason you were banned?: My character repeatedly used the F-Slur (and 2 other related ones) ICly before the 2/07/2024 rule change.
Why do you wish to be unbanned?:
I have no argument against the fact that my character did ICly use slurs beforehand, and while I assume that your fellas's whole reason of ban appeals is to right a wrong, I wanted to just state my case anyway. I roleplayed all of this before the recent rule change (And I apologize if my RP partially /caused/ that rule change, putting the ban times together it feels like it was.) My roleplay was not meant to offend anyone who might be hurt or put at a disadvantage by the usage of slurs. EVEN THEN, I realize how someone could see that OOCly and I'm sorry for that, but to be genuine, I didn't believe that I was breaking any rules at the time.
I believed that it fit her, being a Gen-X Colombian chick who became an adult in the late nineties and early two-thousands when the kind of general usage of said slur in the English vernacular was semi-reclaimed, being common in a more general context to demean anyone who the user considered 'lame'. I wanted to capture that specific context. If a CP or a salesman fucked her over? She directed it toward them, if her friend did something playfully annoying? She'd probably use it with a cheeky grin. I didn't want her to use it to demean someone for their sexuality, I wanted it to be against shitty figures of authority or people who wronged her. I believe she did use it twice to specifically be homophobic in a Colombian mom-sort-of way, but that was in an isolated slum apartment on low-pop with a friend's character in her company, as I felt it was kind of nasty for her to be talking about such. I don't have OOC (nor IC, lmao) political beliefs that would make me want to play fast and loose with your guys' rules. Hell, you can ask the guy I'm dating
When I read the rules, I was under the understanding that things like IC Racism/Slurs were to not be used overtly, and as a display of your real OOC beliefs, and I resonated with that. The last thing I wanted to see was some obvious nazi player with an SS Officer as his profile picture hating on black characters for no reason whatsoever. I wanted to have my character feel like a product of her time because as far as the rules were concerned, I thought I wouldn't be breaking any in doing that. I was given no warning before this ban, and I assumed I was familiar with your ban process (that you would warn me at least once before action was taken to ban) If I was warned, I would've stopped, obviously. Without any warning given, I assumed that was allowed by the rules which said such conduct was permitted until they were changed just recently.
I haven't seen what evidence contributed to my ban, so I hope I'm not wrong in any of this. I'm talking about what I know and remember.
Do you have any picture or video evidence to support your reason?: I have no real picture or video evidence except for character witnesses who can attest to the fact that I'm just a weird writer and not a crazy trying to make people uncomfortable and get under your guys's skin, lmao. I know, I've put a lot of thought into this, several paragraphs and all, but I put a lot of thought into everything, especially my characters
. I love digging deep into them, especially into the simplest things like the ways they talk, and admittedly I like to push an acceptable boundary every now and then, assuming it isn't breaking a rule. I hope you guys are cool with this explanation, and even if I don't get unbanned, it's still a pretty cool server and I'll love playing on it in the future. I just didn't want you to get the wrong impression of me, hah!
Were there any witnesses who can help in this appeal?:
n3onhe4rts: She plays Raven Scott, one of my characters (Raquel Alvarez Bahamonde's) friends. Raquel directed a usage of a slur toward her ICly, but it was meant to be in a joking context. Her character didn't take it that way and they had a fight, resulting in the two establishing a closer bond after. It was a cool IC resolution and I think they can vouch in my favor as to my understanding of the rules pre 2/07.
Luna (lunaria_annua on discord) Really chill player who plays Solveig, one of the OCs I believe Raquel has interacted a lot with.
CCTV (cctv4569 on discord) Longtime friend who I've known for 6+ years, so probably biased but he knows me very well. Plays on Willards when he's out of college and work as several characters.
