Date of Birth: 06/04/1983
Place of Birth: Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia
Current Location: City 24
Education: High School (Gymnasium)

Brother - Milutin Maksimovich: DECEASED
BACKGROUND:
"Hmm... Well, where to start? I was born in Yugoslavia originally, already years after Comrade Tito died, unfortunately. It was a different time back then, but some similarities do creep up with the way some things are now, too. Like a lot of other kids, when I was of school age, I joined the Pioneers, as my parents did before me. It was a happy childhood in those days, learning of the very basic principles of Marxism and helping out ordinary citizens. Seemed almost like we would have a future back then, when I was too young to understand what was really happening in the background. Then, the 90s happened. The country broke up, revisionists were fully in power in the governments of the splitters, and in what was left of Yugoslavia. A result of collusion with the American imperialists in the IMF and their interests in war profiteering, I would later learn about. To think, this is what my father, wise and inspirational as he was, died fighting in. I, in that time, continued going through high school, but my motivation to do so was..... Well, it was a struggle, given everything that was happening......"
"Then, just when we thought we were finished with the horror witnessed in those years, ready to mourn and grieve over our lost loved ones and to hopefully begin the road of recovery to an uncertain future, something fantastical happened: Portal storms were all over the world, and aliens from other universes began pouring in. I'd spent most of those years trying to take care of my brother, mainly. My mother ws around, of course, and held out, but, well, things weren't so good between us and her at the time. Long story. Belgrade held out for some time, managed to hold out all the way until they arrived. The Combine........"
"I'll be honest, my life has only changed marginally for the worse since they took over, to start with. Even during the portal storms, I'd made my living through fight clubs in the city, physical work and such. I learned to get into scraps, and taking people on in hand to hand became the norm after a while. My brother was involved in similar...... Not so legal practices. When the Combine took over, and we all became citizens, things didn't really change in that sense. All that changed is that I lost my ability to read in my spare time, back when I would read through old marxist textbooks from my high school days. Was always good at that class. Well, that and, the fact that I can't see my brother like that anymore. Last I heard though, he'd been caught in a raid one time, during a deal gone wrong with some smugglers, and Civil Protection didn't take kindly to their dealings. Of course they wouldn't. The Combine represent the greatest imperialist force that humanity has had to deal with, so much so that they won't entertain the thought of anything existing as an alternative to their resource extraction and labor exploitation operations on Earth, not even a black market of contraband. Milutin..... He's just one more name among many great, wonderful people. As for my mother, well, she became a fucking bootlicker. Cozying up with the Party, getting her luxuries. She was always a vain, uncaring person, this just confirms it. Dad wouldn't have stood for the bullshit she's gotten into. One day, she will die with the rest of the scum that wear those damn armbands and deepthroat the Combine boot."
"Eventually, after spending some time transferring between cities like a goddamn pinball, getting by on doing the kind of work I'd done before the war, I found myself transferred to Geneva, in the old District 43 as they called it. For the first time since the 7 Hour War, I have finally found a city where the Combine's grip on the proletariat is starting to slip away. Once known as a loyalist city, by the time I was relocated here, a diverse coalition of insurgent groups have established themselves in town. Over time, I got ingrained with one of the big names in the district, with Twitch and others following him. In the coming days, a lot of chaos followed, and many people died. Many who didn't deserve it, but many still who did. The culmination of the resistance activities in District 43 resulted in the destruction of half the city in the east, a big blow to the Combine's grip in the region. And now, after finding my way to District 11 with the rest of the survivors, it seems that this refugee crisis is causing some additional stability. Good. Hopefully plenty of opportunities arise in this new district, to radicalize the proletariat into further action. We'll see..."

The Combine: Lenin described imperialism as the highest stage of capitalism, in his vitally important work with the same title. For a long time, this has been a fact that has proven itself time and time again, including in my own country after the West was through with it. However, nobody could ever have predicted that capitalism could reach such incredibly late stages as what we've witnessed with these locusts that are known as The Combine. If imperialism is the highest stage of capitalism, than this extradimensional colonialism and brutal exploitation that we've been subjected to, it is the highest stage of imperialism. That is what The Combine represents, especially after having caused countless suffering for all of us on our little planet, who have done nothing to them. They've racked up an unfathomably massive debt that they owe to all of the many peoples and species that they've enslaved, brutally exploited, tortured and assimilated over an incomprehensibly long amount of time. For a time, it seemed as if this would be all to look forward to, but lately, it seems that the tides are ever so slowly beginning to turn. More and more instability takes root, and the Combine's grip over Earth becomes weaker by the day. Some day, we will fight our war for national people's liberation, and we intend to win. If Earth can break the chains the Combine have set upon it, then it'll only be a matter of time before their empire, as incomprehensibly massive as it is, begins to crumble, and the multiverse begins to taste freedom, as we move on to greater things, eventually achieving a classless, stateless, moneyless society for all living things. Until that day, though, we must keep fighting and opposing them at every turn, with any method that gets results depending on the ever-changing material conditions.
Malenkov Mafia: They became my family, after Twitch had passed and the old group was lost.... They're all great people, though, and have shown a willingness to do good for the underclass in town. We may get our hands dirty, but really, who doesn't these days? You need all the help you can get under the circumstances we all find ourselves in, and the Malenkov Mafia intends on providing that help. Perhaps even real change and revolution, some day......
Resistance: Anyone who wishes to take up arms against the Combine imperialists is an ally and a comrade, even if some of them have very questionable intentions and goals as far as what to do after the Combine are removed from Earth. But, still, baby steps. Many are comrades, and should be seen as heroes, not to mention the ones that have become great friends...... And the more questionable ones.... Well, an alliance with the national bourgeoise and other questionable elements is necessary on the road to socialism. Best to just make sure that the proletariat, and the dictatorship of the proletariat controls them, and not the other way around. In any case, my place is with comrades like these, at the end of the day.
The Fat Cats: I did some work for you lot, and had a fun night at the fight club. Not sure what to think of you, you seem to have a sort of national bourgeois character about you. Still, you've done some beneficial work for the proletariat of the city, despite your questionable methods and morals at times. I tend to forgive those anyway, since, well, some questionable morals are necessary in these current conditions, after all. So, more or less respectable in my eyes, even if you can be a bit overly idealist and naive at times. You all didn't deserve what you got in the end, though..... You became just another group of names added to the list, The Combine's ever-growing debt to the people of our planet. Though I didn't know you all for long, I will work to ensure that you, along with all those other names taken by the imperialists, are avenged, and we properly receive justice and payment for the debt that the scum owe us. Perhaps it's time I escalate things soon?
Combine Civil Administration: The comprador bourgeoise, the collaborators, the degenerate class traitors and species traitors, selling their souls to the imperialist Combine machine to get a small taste of power over the local proletariat. Most have become so detached from reality and the lives of the people, and openly call for the implementation of more laws and systems to further oppress us all, until our species goes extinct. They all intend to ride this high for as long as they can, but, like with many imperialist projects throughout history, when there is nothing left to plunder of Earth, they will be abandoned and left to die, just as many puppets of imperialist powers have before them. They, too, shall see the day where they're up against a wall, begging as the people call for their deaths. And the people shall receive their justice.
Civil Protection: The Combine as a whole may be a horrific imperialist power that has brought unfathomable death and destruction in their quest for multiversal dominance. You disgusting pigmasks, however, are their local triggermen. All of you are less than a speck, less than a molecule of nothing in the vast machinery that is the Combine's empire, nothing more than local class traitors who have taken up the offer from your overlords to have a small speck of power over the proletariat, being able to harrass, detain and torture people as you please. The Combine dictates, but you fuckheads have pulled the trigger numerous times, including what you did to Milutin, long ago...... When the time comes to foot the bill, pay the debt for all the untold amounts of harm that the Combine has done to Earth and it's inhabitants alone, you will all be among the first on the chopping block. A well-earned position for you all. When that day comes, I hope to be the triggerman to you all, to pay you in kind for what you have done to me and my family, and all the working people of the Earth.
Overwatch Transhuman Arm: You may wonder why I hate even thinking about them as much as I do. After all, they have no volition of their own. Their humanity was taken from them a long time ago, turned into automatons to enforce the will of The Combine. Not only that, but that humanity wasn't willingly given up by all of them either, or so it seems. Well, the reason is fairly simple: It's not about what they are, it's about what they represent. The tin soldiers of the Transhuman Arm, they represent the Combine's highest stage of imperialism more so than anything else they have openly showed off during their occupation of our homeworld. Nothing represents their ruthless, cold, uncaring exploitation of native labor and manpower more than the tin soldiers do. They way they have been transformed, their humanity stripped, their bodies co-opted into meat puppets, bending to the will of their overlords...... A sickening display, a mockery of life. If I get the chance to put them down, I'll take it. I'd be doing them all a favor, releasing them from their most direct slavery.
Loyalists: The petite bourgeoise, most of them comfortably fall within a middle class in the Combine's hierarchy on Earth. Like the Administration, they are compradors, but they don't operate on such a large scale as the CCA. Seems to me that, although many join out of selfish reasons, some are just looking for comfort or stabilty in their lives under these circumstances. Still, I have no real sympathy for them, as nice as some of them can be as individuals. The lower Party does, however, provide a good place for infiltration. Still, when the time comes, and the Combine becomes nothing more than a stain on our planet's history, most of you can be re-educated, and will be. Some of you, though, may find yourself facing the wall, with the major compradors and the pigmasks.
Civil Worker's Union: You are all responsible for carrying out the directives of those who run the exploitation of the Earth's local labor power. Your job consists of directing work actions for the benefit of the city and district, officially speaking. However, this work that you have the proletariat do for goodboy points, it is ultimately to enable the Combine's exploitation of our labor power on a very basic and local level. Still, despite it all, there are some among you who do seem like genuine working people, who just happen to have the wrong idea about what it means to be a proletarian individual, and thus you do labor for the Combine, under their banner.
Civil Medical and Research Union: I would say that medicine, regardless of the banner it's flying under, is a noble and respectable profession. The CMRU, whether we want to acknowledge it or not, has still done a lot of good for the general working class of this city, or at least they try to. Many of their standard doctors and nurses are genuine in their pursuit of medicine, doing it for the sake of helping people, with them doing it under the Combine's direction because they provide them with resources. That being said, though, the administration running the CMRU is ultimately a malevolent entity, like the rest of the compradors running this planet. It corrupts what is otherwise a noble profession, by placing restrictions on who may be treated, giving priority to those of higher tiers, refusing to treat those who were beaten by the pigmasks. Not only that, but since the organization merged with the BRI and began conducting scientific experiments, their standards of recruitment have changed. They've been looking at getting more and more people with anti-social tendencies, those who could clinically watch and take notes as people are turned to beasts from whatever drugs they give them in experiments, as well as their willingness to use prisoners and other downtrodden for dangerous scientific pursuits, like the Mengeles of our time. These Mengeles will also find themselves against the wall.
Citizens/Underclass: You represent the proletariat of the Earth. Those who work for coupons to feed themselves, who live in squalid conditions, whose labor is fiercely exploited by the imperialist machine of The Combine. While some of you may be questionable, it doesn't matter. Those of us who wish to fight The Combine to end their exploitation, we need to keep all of you in our hearts and minds as we do so, for you are the ones who suffer the most from it. Those who do not do so are only serving their own interests, and will seek to restore capitalist conditions, even if pre-imperialist ones, upon all of us. Those of us who know, we fight for you! Workers of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains! And the imperialists, they have everything to lose from you breaking your chains, hahaha!
Vortigaunts: Humanity was at first scared of you. Understandable, given the chaotic conditions back during the portal storms, and no methods available for communication between our species at the time. Still, that xenophobia of the time, though it made sense, was still ultimately a black stain on our history. And The Combine, well, they want to turn that black stain into a point of pride for our species, so that they may keep the proletariat of this planet divided based on species, and prevent the formation of solidarity between our peoples. Still, after getting to know your species more, I have determined that you are what we should all strive to be, a species that has achieved such level of solidarity through the Vortessence that hasn't been seen before in this planet's history. Your ability to live for each other as a collective is what our species should also strive to be. I hope that we may both work together in solidarity to rid the Earth of this imperialist parasite, and that we may live on this planet in harmony, building a future together as comrades.
PERSONAL RELATIONS:
Twitch: Rest in power, beloved comrade. You've done wonderful work in advancing the resistance against the Combine imperialists. Cooperation with the old coalition, increased coordination in attacks against the Overwatch forces, your respectful, if somewhat idealist views, your love of a good scrap. Then, when things began to escalate, you died a martyr, holding back the Overwatch forces so the rest could get away. You are someone we should strive to be like, in our mission to rid the world of this parasite, The Combine.
Vladimir Malenkov: The Boss, the one holding our current group together. An old veteran, fought in Afghanistan back in the day, when the Soviets were there under the Brezhnev Doctrine. As questionable as that revisionist era in Soviet history was, the man was just a conscript, a cog in the machine. Besides, it's all in the past now anyway, and irrelevant. A very respectable man, who understands the power of collective action, and who wishes to provide aid to the proletariat of our district, especially those of the underclass. Perhaps a bit too untrusting of some of the other rebel groups, but he's done good by us, despite a feeling of ulterior motive from him at times.
Yngraham Winter aka Snow: A true hero of the revolution. An old combat medic and surgeon by trade, having served in the Falklands War. Again, an old questionable time, but irrelevant nowadays. With his skills, he's done more to help the proletariat of this city than most people could ever hope to achieve. Saved countless lives from the violence of our present conditions, assisted in activities against the Combine imperialists, and had even achieved a beautiful thing, having participated in the freeing of five vortal comrades in the dying days of District 43, and had survived being shot with pulse weapons from the tin soldiers pursuing them. I'm absolutely ecstatic to have someone like this in our group, and to know a man with his achievements. Still, he's getting on in years, and it seems that he won't be able to keep up with these strenuous activities much longer. I just hope he can have a happy life after all that he's done for this planet and it's people, he deserves a most wonderful retirement.
Raven Scott aka Screwgirl: I first met her back in District 43, seems she's been in the game for a while. We've since gotten to know each other a bit better, and have become good friends over time. She has her oddities, for sure, especially her clumsiness in regular life in the district. Still, she and I have shared goals and desires, and we've gotten along well, to the point where I see her as a confidante of sorts. I hope she can stay safe. Shame, what happened to her significant other, though...... Yet another name for the list.
Raven, what happened? Why did those pigmasks take a sudden interest in you, when they were looking for some Italian woman? Don't tell me you got involved in something that wasn't worth the risk. If I find out that you're in the Nexus, and will most likely stay there, I'll...... They'll pay.
Hugh Mattock: A doctor in the CMRU, and a Tier 4 at that. Normally, offputting. However, this man helped to treat me under the table a few times back in District 43, and seems to have done so for a lot of other people of, uh, questionable pursuits in the eyes of the imperialists. He seems to have some sympathies against our overlords, perhaps a potential comrade? Well, I'll see. With how the MM is changing our doctrine, focusing more on infiltration, perhaps seeking a career in the CMRU could prove to be fruitful. I may get to find out more about you yet, Doctor.
