Lately the city has felt fairly dull as it doesn't feel that there's much really going on after a certain time on the server typically after 6pm EST and I think that this issue has been sort of present for months you see things like DOB/Shop rp being essentially dead safe for the motel which is arguably the last bastion of shop rp and further more you don't really seem to see rebels as much as you used to well.

Remember this time last year? London was seemingly lost an administrator was killed there was political turmoil in the streets you had gangs of loyalist paramilitaries backing silver tongued politicians who promised them the sun and moon and we'd see lots of player driven things like riots at the statue during the futurist rally the burning of slums there was the ISO Becoming the foundation for the modern OSF (this is a point of contention on the server but it is what it is).

Point is Willard seems to have gotten dull as far as life in the city goes maybe it's just me being out of the loop or mis-interpreting things going on but things just feel "Different" more lackluster so to speak as opposed to how they'd been the past two years or so that Willard has been open.

When did things start to drop off action wise? Obviously I know that roleplay isn't all about action scripts and s2k but it seemed for so long we had such a vibrant chaotic background or vibe within the city things were uncertain it seemed as if one side might try the unthinkable and try and stage a coup or the rebels might try and launch a major attack on the city. Now it seems rather Limited to isolated shootings/muggings the odd xenian/necrotic breach being where we see most conflict.

My point here is it almost feels like the CONFLICT in the story is either on the verge or is completely gone?

Maybe someone can enlighten me on things but from a loyalist/Citizen Pov it seems as if the resistance for example the player ran resistance is either just non existent or spend most of their days hiding in sewers mugging people or in the outlands trying to buy scripts.

2021 Mid-Late 2021 Loyalists.

-Militias creating inclusive RP opportunities for citizens. ( I.E Assisting CWU filling in holes, Making check points you could arrive within the city fresh on the server and gain some valuable experience in group rp through these which would help people new to the game or old refine/refresh their skills aswell as giving alternate paths for specifically aligned characters)
-Political tension.
-Cloak and dagger politics in some instances.
-Lots of events.

(2021-Early 2022) Rebels
-Bases
-Active Operations taken against CP forces in the cities.
-Unified force. (Though it's a mixed topic and isn't seen very favorably, Bottle street was a large unified cell which worked alongside many other groups towards a few goals, Look at their work with UFF and a few other minor groups at the time it seemed there was an end goal and a path towards it.)
-Player made attempt at an Uprising!?! (Despite how it was handled)

(Mid-Late 2022 Loyalists)
-Shops? (Dead essentially)
-Parties/Gala events (Rare but happen occasionally).

(Mid-Late 2022 Rebels) (On server Actions)
-Disunified. (Little to no co-operation atleast not properly)
-Seems to closer resemble gangs now then they do actual freedom-fighters. (Which I think really hurts their public image, Who other than a deliquent or someone casted from the system would want to work with people who do nothing but pick on people trying to survive and mug them?)
-Little Progress made in the city if any aside from a few very minor attacks on the power grid which are repaired quickly. (Within 1-2 days)
-Poor Public relations. (To their credit atleast they don't execute people who walk in and find their bases like i17 and BS rebels "Usually")

Rebels doing Nothing.

With the sheer amount of space the rebels have access to in the outlands/sewers/slums they could be doing so so much they could establish bases plant and grow food start propaganda campaigns to win hearts and minds, They could train new fighters. and co-ordinate with larger groups outside the city and yet it seems as if little to no effort is made, I remember at the start of Willard there was a group dedicated to growing food and feeding the needy, Now it seems the rebel focus is pushed towards grinding scripts and whining that there's not enough garbage spawns and wanting a map change. which I don't understand why V4 Is so desired by these people every other corner in rebel territory on V4 Had a CP checkpoint the FPS was terrible and you had few quick attack and escape points. T-7 Is better in every single way!

(With what I've said above of course there should be gangs and such but at the same time when found the Rebels should be condemning and punishing these groups who target civilians and loyalists and yet I've to see it happen.

Anyway I've gone on long enough of a rant here, If you have anything to add or want to talk about your experiences with the server and factions we'd love to hear them, But please KEEP IT CIVIL! I don't want a spam/meme thread opening up on what is supposed to be a legitmate discussion!

I'll start a whole Militia group just for you... After Gold Tooth dies of course. (I can promise we will cause a lot of chaos if I ever do come to making one)

Doesn't have to be a Militia persay, Loyalist groups could be interesting for many reasons, People still talk about the

Citizen Defence force or whatever that C8 Group was back on NEB, It would just be nice for more conflict within the city. I want it to feel dangerous for both the Loyalist and Anti-Citizen factions

Right now there's like Nothing, There's that one group "Operators or w/e tf they call themselves" That I'm sure after reading more into is just another dr pepper alt.

That is exactly what I'll be doing. Making it dangerous. Making it an untrusting place for the Loyalists; a place where you don't want to get caught in the cross-fire for citizens and a group you'd want to fight with if there's any little bit of fight left for you to resist for the anti-citizens.

The idea that more equals better in the context of 'shit happening' is completely wrong. Look at the world map right now. almost every single area in the entire sector is red or near it, the OCIN tower is still down and yet this boredom persists. People just straight up stopped giving a shit. Its not about what is happening, but the manner of its happening. Which leads me to my point...

...There is no story. There is an extremely cookie cutter (to the point of being ripped straight from XCOM 2) overarching idea, but its entirely distant in both miles and time, affecting nothing. As for active narratives, there has been essentially none. There are plenty of minor side-gigs, make no mistake. But most of these are things started by people passing secrets in DM's, providing no grounds for discussion or coordination. As a result, these myriads of ideas start, sputter and die as inconsequential afterthoughts. Within both the admin sphere and that of the CT - everyone wants to do their own thing. Which means nothing ultimately gets done.

Ideally this is about to change due to a previous meeting we had, where the CT has discussed a common ground narrative we want to follow. Will this actually come to pass? Total 50/50. Saying is easier than doing and lots of people like to say lots of stuff.

As for the nostalgia stuff, its mostly rose-tinted glasses.
Some was good. But rebels used to follow the bottlestreet doctrine - metagame and mega murder were all this time period was good for and rebel RP was truly, absolutely, fucking awful then. Since then, rebels have rarely risen above being 'gangsters' at any point.
Politics was around, but it was rife with metagame and bias, no matter which side you wanna ride home, it was not a fair playing field and the entire thing fell apart because of it.
Shops have always been contentious and there have probably been several dozen spells of them going dark across the servers history.
Loyalism has almost always sucked. The system has never been particularly RP friendly and the benefits have always been lack-luster.

Nothing that is happening now is particularly special. doesn't mean its not bad, but the conceptualizing that all Willard has to do to suddenly sprout its wings is to 'go back' is something that I just view as a giant subconscious cope. Are things worse now? Yeah, probably. Willard is technically weaker than it typically has been. But that's not because of new issues really. Its because of the same old issues festering for over a year finally starting to rot away the foundations of things. Sure, some issues are unique to Willard in the now, but most have been following it around for some time.

To fix the problems the server has we'll need to look at what we will do, not what we have done.

An active overarching story which we see progress a little each day would be nice so if what you say is true about the results of that meeting then my fingers are crossed in anticipation.

Shops have always been dead. When you think of them being active in 2021 you are likely either picturing one or two that existed as a rebel group's hideout and thus they had to maintain the appearance of activity, or you are thinking of our rapid-fire attempts to continually evict afkers and shove in new owners to the point of madness. They would afk within three days, in general and the complaints would begin to pile up.

Since an independent DOB is gone, welcome to repetition.

Militias will never return; it was an excellent concept that was wasted. The present Willard climate wouldn't allow for it to thrive as it once could.

2021 Willard had a lot of creative players with big, bold ideas.

The problem was that the staff of Willard 2021, still riding their post-launch successes and high pop, were rather open in pushing their own agenda for what they thought would work. This resulted in the focus being pulled away from the city and several promising player-led things being torn down to be replaced by "staff-ran" endeavors, rather than supporting the then-current players.

Naturally none of the replacements happened and the creative players quit.

When it takes more discussion to allow roleplay to happen than get something coded in you know there's a serious issue.
