Businesses!

We currently have a system where you have to -apply- to have your own shop / business.

And thus we have a system where LARGE swaths of the population are gate kept from running business rp. - We also have a system that literally right now is telling you that you can't own a business, which means you can't use the BARTER skill because in order to use the BARTER skill you need to have a BUSINESS PERMIT which you can only gain through Applying and you CANT apply because Business owners are LOCKED.

Why all this bureaucracy? Just let people roleplay.

You might as well honestly remove the skill, hell remove cooking whilst we're at it. Cooking relies on being able to get a mixture of products to even utilize the skill and if there's no businesses on you can't even use the business skill to utilize it.

Just make the system simple, let people log off, log on, go to a door, own the door. Run and rp a business owner, log off when their done- rinse repeat with the ability for others to take over the store.

Wanna make it abit more perminant for well established businesses? Well don't lock 75+ players out of running a business at least.

At least give us some shops to run at least.

What's that? Want to ensure people hire other citizens? Well then make it rewarding? Have the DoP actually reward people for good hiring practice.
Don't want people spawning shit randomly for themselves and using the business menu incorrectly? Well shit tough, that's what administration is for.

Please fix.

You guys went on about "CiTiZeN CeNtRiC RoLePlAy" well then let us actually roleplay a citizen running a business.

I know this came off as hostile but this just seemed really -really- stupid to me and it's all for some kind of humour.

Thats all, peace.

There's limited space for businesses to have their own buildings. People can still apply for stalls, which can pretty much go anywhere the combine allow. Stalls are a lot more free to do business how they want anyway. As for the bartering skill, if anyone could use it, there'd be no point in owning a business at all since you can buy your own shit and not need to go through a person running a business. Bartering is specifically for Union business people, when smuggling is added, rebels will have their own businesses, and people in the city will be able to make shady deals. Pretty much all HL2RP has shops you apply to own, shops were just full when the server launched, but no one owned a stall, I currently own a stall and it's going great

Jackets are contraband? Wot

Everything businesses should be selling is legal. Except for the Kitchen Knife which you can carry, but make sure you put it straight into your apartment afterwards, carry it around too long and CPs can grab you.

For further clarification- Trenchcoats are illegal apparently. Though I wonder why when they were sold at a Union approved store but I digress.

Also I actually had questions about player owned dwellings/housing. Do we have anywhere for that or can I message one of you guys directly for quesitons?(unrelated to the thread ik)

Q: When will the businesses be fixed?
A: soon™

"The system was built to flourish down the line, not day 1." literally this ^^

Also, official launch missing a core element of the business scheme: smuggling. Real smart play.

I'm sure @Robert has an update regarding this. There have been a lot of changes to the skill system in the last few weeks.

Skills systems are sorted and stuff.

As for businesses, there is a few more now. Still lacking support in the US timezone, but that is pretty much dead. EU timezone on the other hand got quite a few stores, but overall getting is a business is not gate-kept and never was. Simply walk up to a CA member like others do and then you can get a business license after a bit of talking. If you need pet flags and stuff, you can ask staff in game for you to be sorted for a few minutes to setup a mini-stall.
