Camp Bondsteel - Kosovo

Early History 1999-2001

During the Resonance Cascade and the advent of destructive portal storms merging alien life with Earth, Camp Bondsteel was locked down and tasked as an evacuation point for the local population of Ferizaj. The camp was saved the

Seven Hour War and Abandonment 2004-2005
The Seven Hour swooped over the region of Kosovo and the Combine Empire was quick to wipe out any stragglers that stand in their way. The army and the refugees in the camp stood no chance against the invading forces and were swiftly defeated as a result through numerous bombardments and patrols of synthetic-tripodal hunters. Those that survived the attacks by the Combine were either subjugated or forced to abandon the camp entirely. The Combine pulled it's forces out of the camp weeks after the declaration of surrender by Earth. Camp Bondsteel by 2005 was virtually uninhabited safe for the occasional scavenger that would wander the base in search of food.
Resistance Remnants and Reoccupation 2006-2016

After the devastating defeat in City Thirty-Two, a scattered remnant force of Sky Soldiers and their accompanying freedom fighters retreated through sea from Italy to Montenegro by stolen maritime vessels left in port after the Seven Hour War. Discovering the existence of the camp through Major Brandon Polis who was an installation executive officer of Camp Bondsteel before. The remnants avoided naval encounters by the Combine through the cover of dense fog that shrouded the Adriatic Sea. The remnants abandoned their vessels and set off in their 230-mile expedition by foot and hand-cart. Through all perils in their travel, the remnants arrived at Camp Bondsteel and were shocked to see the catastrophic destruction of all amenities of the camp except strangely not the modified pumpjacks that were scattered all around camp. By early 2007, the camp was slowly being rebuilt and fortified to suit the needs of the organization. The dense factory smog from the Combine's largest production mechanism engulfed the entire landscape of Kosovo. Through the years, the inhabitants of Camp Bondsteel dug themselves underground and utilized surplus military protective masks to filter out the toxins when they travelled abroad. The remnants were able to use leftover construction equipment to tap into an underwater spring and also to build viable shelter against the elements. The dangers of Antlion swarms were culled due to the re-purposed pumpjacks and introduction into geothermal power.
Current Status 2016-present

Camp Bondsteel is now a remnant of it's former self due to the consistent bombarding it suffered during The Seven Hour War. The Sky Soldiers resistance occupies the camp successfully and has been kept relatively silent due to their activities underground. Major Polis who is now the acting commander of the base ensures that his soldiers and the people he inherited are safe and prosperous. The remnant has marginal power in the territory but they are looking to build up resources and drawing plans to sabotage the Combine's production facilities in City Twenty-Seven. For now the group rests in their newly-found home until the time is right to strike against their occupiers.
