[CC] Vinyl complaint/discussion

From my point of view this is a glorified "I didn't get my way, bad GM"
Sure, a non-death option would've been more interesting but there's clear protocol that people have to follow and they can't just ignore it all willy-nilly. If you have a problem with that, you can make a CP complaint thread like NIX and Neo said. Vinyl didn't do anything wrong in this situation.

Not involved here but I can probably clarify on the charges.

63;Criminal Trespass
- This is a Red-Tier violation and will get you fucked as Red-Tier punishments are either Labour Relocation, Forceful Conscription, or Terminal Prosecution(bullet). This charge applies if you are found in areas specifically restricted to Combine/Overwatch forces, in this case the sewer-level of Checkpoint 1 where you trespassed.

For note, 603;Unlawful Entry is the only charge where trespassing doesn't result in death. But this rarely applies to Combine areas.

51b;Threat to Property
- While it says threat to property, it can be both threat to property or already damaging/destroyed property. This charge is a Black-Tier and will IMMEDIATELY get you the bullet. The property in question must be owned by Combine or Overwatch Forces once again, as if they were some generic store or apartment window, it would fall under 408;Criminal Damage. You got yourself slapped with this charge by sawing the electrical cable that was clearly connected to Combine Equipment/Areas, thus rendering it as Combine Infrastructure and 51b applicable.

TLDR:
You broke into a Combine Area and destroyed a part of the Combine Power Grid and got shot for it. In hindsight this is pretty wack to do for a bloody tire.

Edit: I forgot to mention, rooms like those are constantly monitored by surveillance cameras which would immediately alert Dispatch, and in turn Civil Protection if someone intruded.

I am officially closing this thread* with the caveat that you may open a separate complaint/discussion on Civil Protection Behaviour in general should you continue to discuss it further. Otherwise, my response is directed at squarely this incident involving "BillyBottoms".

Vinyl needs a demotion

Vinyl does not need a demotion, that is a complete 180 degree turn from how I operate in general. As Head of Staff, I have a duty to know when something has gone wrong with the way an admin handles a specific case yes - but to toss them out like that is nothing short of immature. We sit, we talk and we improve upon what had gone wrong. In any hypothetical circumstance, that would've ended in things being voided or subsided to some standard. Vinyl is also a trial-admin. While yes, that doesn't resolve them of any wrongdoing, I am expecting them to fuck up in some instances and that is perfectly fine. Owing even further to the fact that a demotion would be silly.

My character in question was "Sir Billybottoms" a shitpost character at first but developed into something more refined, I wanted to break away from being serious and tried to actively provide civvies and everyone else something to do. My antics were tolerated and I'd assume that a little insanity, concerning but workable would be a good middleground. He has enough depth to explain his antics and be silly enough to be entertaining but be serious enough to hold weight.

Sometimes characters that are created on a whim become more fleshed out people, and that's what we aim to do, as roleplay plays a huge part in that process. This instance however, you've directly admitted to myself that you're actively making characters just to shitpost, which disrupts roleplay and goes against the rules of Willard by nature. I'll also remind you that insanity at any level isn't tolerated by the combine by the virtue of it being an innately mind-breaking randomization, in a place where structure and order are gospel.

You could've just as easily contacted or opened a ticket for staff and asked them to change your name to something more suitable so that you could continue this serious-tone further down the development route.

Really, it all boils down to interaction. Nothing came of my character dying besides "oh so sad, anyways". It destroyed a potential avennue of personal entertainment for me and I have no idea what to do next. If simply "breaking" into a warehouse just to get back what was his is a death sentence I might as well either be a faceless citizen or leave.

Make a new character and start again. This situation aside, when any character dies it's a hit for us especially if you've put work into making them a decent addition to the server's eco-system, but I see and have zero evidence that any actual development was done on this character you had. All I see is you pulling excuses in order to formulate a complaint that ultimately lead nowhere as this thread shows.

You were killed for charges: 51b, and 63. For those who don't know, that's Threat to Property, and Criminal Trespass. Both of these are terminal charges, 51b being black-tier = always death.

Why didn't I feel pity for you, and let you live? Because I'm playing an emotionless AI who won't feel pity for an old man who broke his legs while trespassing. @@dingus is right, he begged to let you live. His pleas were ignored, the AI does not care. I once again ordered the immediate execution, and with tears in his characters eyes, he ended yours. There was nothing wrong here regarding RP on the Combine side.
This is the explanation. Doesn't matter where you are on the map, you should have an understanding of when you are are not trespassing OOC. To me logically, the only reason why you would wonder into a restricted place IC is for character reasons (IE: Lost property, attempting to break into a location for some reason). If you are to make your excuse that your character didn't know what was and wasn't trespassing, I doubt they would've made it six months into occupation. You either learn quick under combine rule, or you crip walk to the drop bloc.

You applied for Staff last I checked Chaos. Infact I even spoke to you briefly just before the break to let you know that things had begun running again and you should be seen at some point over christmas/new year. I'm going to go ahead and deny that application for you given your activity and behaviour around this situation - I don't think you're quite what I'm looking for in a staff member. I can and probably will speak to Vinyl about some GM stuff, and see if I can bring more resources to them in order to potentially avoid a second instance of... This? Whatever you call this. Either way, Vinyl will understand things more clearly. I don't quite see the issue you're trying to bring up with this complaint, but I'll take the benefit of the doubt and say that both parties could've handled things better to be safe.

I wish your new characters and such a sturdy future. If you have any details or concerns regarding this incident in the future, feel free to drop me a PM with any information or questions on the forums. Otherwise. Have a good evening!
