Change map or make it more dystopian, add a GM (GameMaster) role and overall make this server feel like an actual cruel oppressive alien empire

I've spoken with a few people and they've all said the same things: Map is too colorful, CPs are literal mall cops, vortigaunts aren't treated as slaves but like any other citizen, WN is getting boring every day.

Tbh this doesn't even feel like HL2RP anymore man, i just want that good old source map atmosphere maps like I17 or D47 gave you. Mf this map is even better than the goddamn city i live in irl.

Also, i've noticed a great lack of events lately that's why we need GMs. Make them another whole thing and have apps for them in the OOC section.

For the CPs, it's real they are mall cops and are uninteresting chars. Even they know this as well:

Vortigaunts are a big problem too, they aren't even slaves anymore just citizens with a different model and special abilities... There are vorts that are even employed in shops, but i can kinda see that. But bro never in a million years should a vortigaunt be able to join the goddamn assembly.

Overall the server is starting to enter the dead phase, everyday RP becomes boring and uninteresting...

Characters no longer have development
People don't really roleplay a dystopia
They want action, guns, glory

Not blood, drama, tragedy

This has already been adressed internally and something will be announced about this at some point in the future.

But you need to do something now, i know a lot of people that are starting to quit because this server isn't interesting anymore man.
I'm not saying this to cause drama or sum but just beacuse i love this server and the players on it

thanks for moving this, didn't know where to post it

There's a setting to tone down the saturation if you want. Besides, it's an artistic choice and doesn't really matter at all.
CPs are literal mall cops
So back in the past we've had super strict cops, almost all were entirely robocops and people were afraid to even try and RP with them because the cops back then would try their hardest to charge you for every violation there was. It was not a fun time for anyone and it was a shame.

Now I'm exaggerating just a little but the reality was that the CP faction was generally disliked because they took control of every situation and back then they basically had no leeway for mistakes so everyone turned into a robocop. I like it the way it is now, because CPs have complete freedom to play their character the way they like.

Personally I want CPs to jump on action less but I also can't really blame them for doing it, it can get quite boring if nothing has happened in a while!

Sure... Let's go back to old times where playing an enslaved Vortigaunt wasn't fun at all and all you'd really want to do is become freed. I can't speak from experience but the faction simply wasn't fun. It wasn't fun on other servers either but I do understand Vortigaunts here look out of place compared to how they were! It's better for RP though, as I've seen.

The in-game GM role is almost ready for use and we do already have GMs! It's called the Creative Team and soon they'll be able to run their own events on the main server. Because they're undergoing a rework, events are currently on hold pretty much. But when the GMs are ready, events will be kicking off again, starting with the end of Auspicious in a few weeks! Should be really exciting and engaging times ahead from that point, and I'm looking forward to it!

I think you are wrong on the first one, the map is everything that matters... And this city just destroys the whole meaning of a dystopia, i want grey, blue, black, not red, orange, white

About the CPs, they really need to be stricter... They are literally mall cops right now. Remember that the combine literally couldn't give two fucks about humanity and is just resource gathering. They're dogs and their only job is to keep the cattle in line. Obviously, they should never be robocops and show a bit of humanity but that should be dangerous for them to do. Cps are so heavily equipped because the UU is trying to hide their humanity and kinda make them like monsters.

As i said, i'm fine with vortigaunts being employed and doing workshifts... But it literally makes no sense to give a vortigaunt a higher status than an underclass citizen... One thing that would work is to make the vorts have a loyalty level with cohesion points. I'm not a vort player so i don't really know how that works. But never make them higher ranking than a normal citizen.

I'm happy that the creative team is gonna work on the main server since they've got some brilliant people in it. Thanks for informing me about that.

Well things won't get rushed, that's the jist of it. If we rush things to happen "now" instead of careful planning and choosing, throwing a bunch of GMs into the pit that have no idea what they're doing, no guidelines to follow, no training with the commands etc. and so much other stuff that goes into it, it will neither help you, the server or anyone in the long run and just cause chaos.

The staff team isn't blind to the issue that things are stale right now, but we're working on it on multiple fronts. Creative Team focusing on the lore and narrative aspect of the server (not sure what the state of affairs there is rn, I'm not a CT) and we're on our way to implement some new stuff that Management will announce soon enough once it's ready to be fully rolled out to the community. And it'll help a lot, trust me.

Alright man, thanks for reassuring me. I'm sure this server is not ready to die at all and (hopefully) it will get much more content for a long time.

Agree with Grass on it mattering. Not that I expect it to change, but the setting contributes a ton to the atmosphere of roleplay.

We won't ever change the map, that much has been firmly established by Atle/other CMs, so there's little point talking about it. Though, as Neo said, you can change the saturation yourself through the settings. You'd be surprised at how much it changes the mood. Look at Clockwork, for example, with its constant de-saturated filter.

Cops should be more antagonistic in my opinion, but without encouraging them to charge or amputate people for the simplest of things -- you can be a complete dick without whipping out the violation index at the minutest of thing.

They aren't your friends -- not on the surface level, at least. I'm not against complex relationships springing up with cops and civs at all. Sure it's an IC problem you can say, but the simple truth of the matter is that it has OOC consequences.

Maybe I just want to have my cake and eat it too, but CPs should be antagonising the populace, but they also shouldn't ever be robocops.

A unit punted a dead frog across the plaza and hit My char with it Intentionally, covering the expensive suit they wore with frog juices (yum) she's a T6.

You must be hanging with the wrong units, cause they can be and often are fairly aggressive.

This is why I support some sort of beating quota system. Harshly punish CPs who don't get in a certain amount of re-educations or charges, making it an IC dilemma rather or not you stoop down to random beatings and framing people for petty charges.

Though the issue with this system is how to make it work OOC, where people have lives outside of HL2RP.
