No they wouldn't. They'd start with nothing, back at square one with no connections, no development and absolutely no starting ground.
That's the point, they'd get to do what they want to do differently.
Unless you mean players, but players tend to go to factions they OOC prefer.
Yes I meant players, and it's their fault for missing out on trying something new/else, hell, even making a difference.

No mention on the new character thing.

Should instead of the word "wipe" I use "relaunch"? That'd be a (better) buzzword.

There will be much more options that may or may not have better systems than Willard
UG will run on clockwork, less scripts, smaller max player amount, runs on CW (laggier). Synapse is semi-serious and not open. Nightfall will be UG but in a different time and even less player amount and nobody but a small circle of people seem to know what it is. auraWatch is never open and its community hates newcomers from my own experience and others'. TnB I don't even think it is open, but it's drastically different from Willard, and misses the charm and features that keep Willard players in Willard. So no I don't believe a wipe would be like a lightning strike fast kill like you might imagine.

or people may have had enough of Willard and use that as an excuse to leave.
With all above points said, their loss. Majority people on this thread haven't said they'd quit with a wipe, so the ones who leave will be a minority. And it wont matter, *kind* of what @Robert said.

Above arguments made by me going without mention of letting banned players have a chance to have a breath of Willard Networks:tm: again, to replace the probable minor losses sustained by a wipe. In the chess metaphor, that'd be promoting a pawn to a new/second queen.

Except pedophiles, DDOSers, etc. Keep them the hell away.

permabanned player suggests unbanning banned players. more at six.

I've seen three servers go the "everyone gets a second chance and we remove the ban list" route before. In all three cases most of the unbanned people got banned again within a week and those that didn't ended up being insufferable as fuck because they danced around what got them banned last time.

And having seen the discord dumpster fires and other shit behaviour that got a lot of people banned here since launch, WN wouldn't be the magical exception to that.

Secondly, the majority of WN's playerbase aren't dedicated roleplayers anymore. They're Impulse refugees with poor-to-mid RP quality and nowhere else to go right now, not the TN foundation that was here in 2021. If you reset them, do you think they're going to bother sticking around to do it all again?

These statements contradict eachother. If they are semi-serious roleplayers, then I'm sure they have no qualms with a wipe, since they are used to losing everything every 5 minutes in bumrush rebel attacks either by their own volition or for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, both worse things than said wipe.

I do agree with the fact that maybe giving people a second chance in V3 is a good idea tho. (even tho I clearly don't like the way Joku plays, maybe he learned from his mistakes, and others too)
Of course exploiters, hackers, and shit like that should remain banned tho

Regarding bans - unless the person was found to have been banned for an actual misunderstanding, extremely minor technicality or due to a no longer enforced policy or some shit of the sort - dont.

Metagamers are the most commonly banned people in Willard as far as I know and if there is one thing that you can almost be assured with is that cheaters love to cheat and will almost certainly do it again. The difference is, the second round they can learn from what got them caught and be that much of a harder pest to flush out. I dont feel like having to deal with endless drama and horseshit from people already known to cause it.

Aside from them most bans are awarded to extremely toxic people or those who have no intention to RP.
Why are people so desperate to get these people back into the server?

(throwing numbers here for the proportion) A hundred bad mingy players get unbanned, and banned a week later because of their nature, unless they have changed their ways, so the number could vary, and the 20 good players that can actually roleplay, support roleplay and create it, would also be allowed back, giving a major boost to the player amount, which raises the chances of more people migrating from other communities (back) to Willard.

What about players who know how to roleplay, don't want drama and do their utmost to avoid it and haven't been a major detriment to the community, and banning them has caused harm, me keeping the term being vague for a reason as it could stretch to different things and levels. Or do these fall in to the extremely minor technicality and/or no longer enforced policy or otherwise category?

Mutually exclusive factors right there. If you didn't rule break, you didn't cause harm being here. Unless you can list off specific instances in which staff blatantly have disregarded rules and principles in order to make corrupt bans, I dont know what the point is intended to be.

13. Rule 0 is what got me perma banned the first time. I was just starting to try not to get under the ban hammer and booile slapped me with that, like he did with many others from what I know. The rule needs to change or be removed.
agreed Rule 0 has been refered to before as the "I don't have anything to ban you for, But I don't like you" reason to ban someone and needs to be removed.

Most of those semi-serious people only play because they have items/gear/whatever is my point - they can work around sweeps and danger just by not doing much of anything. If you wipe them and they lose everything I can guarantee they'll wander off because they just don't want to work their way back up again.

That'll go for every faction where people have put in time and effort to earn ranks or whatever.

A lot of the people who were willing to put up with such an idea for the sake of RP or the community have been driven away or quit a long time ago. WN doesn't have the luxury to bank on a "we'll get it right this time!" promise like it did in 2021 anymore.

If you've ever been staff you'll know why Rule 0 is a neccesity. People can and will argue every technicality under the sun to get out of something even if they're being absolutely obnoxious and impossible but not TECHNICALLY breaking rules by the exact wording of them.

You're a good roleplayer rabid and I've had some good experiences with you so respect there but...

Sometimes things need to be argued like @Goose metagaming me being high as a unit when I had a mask on and getting me forced into a borderline erp situation at CMU which later partially contributed to me losing my CP Wl and later being Rule 0'd cus staff didn't want to deal with it.

Goose on his devil arc rn 💀

I dont know what the point is intended to be.
The point I'm making is for people who have unintentionally walked/put themselves into their doom. I cannot find a way to speak of this without mentioning myself so I guess I'll throw myself in the fires;

What happened with the NW when Kaffee's vortigaunt was exposed was just unfortunate and a prime example of the point. I flagged off for a sweep in a place that was not raided in said sweep. I warned everyone of the possibility before to not to leave myself in a totally unfair advantage incase it did happen, which it did.
I flagged onto another character who I walked into an area where a battle would later, tabbing out, and tabbing back in, only to find myself in a TBC ring. I figured if I was at risk of death and it'd be my own fault for being in the TBC ring, why not allow me to partake? And so I did, with a plan in mind to take a little bit of petty payback for the recent beatdown the citizen character that were caused by mistaken identity with the RDT bombings, among other things. I also thought I could do so, since the situation was already ongoing and I would not be the one initiating an offense against the target, being Kaffee's vortigaunt. My plan was to follow the vort and lead the CP's to them, where I followed him to an apartment and told the CP's that they ran in there, which is where they broke down the door and killed almost everyone in the NW, not knowing that a good amount of them would be hunkered in there, nor that it was their apartment specifically.

Do I deserve to get warned for LTARP, Metagame and FailRP for this? Of course when I was unbanned we agreed on a "one warning and you are re-banned" ultimatum but still, did any part of the aforementioned events describe what kind of a player I really am, do they make me a minge or a detriment to the community?

The event was voided as there was no legitimate evidence against Kaffee's vortigaunt to be a free one hiding in plain sight, and banning me broke down the beginning of a group I was running, and it was going relatively well and I cannot see any way I or any of the members could have screwed it up otherwise. All the players, except Antsy, that were apart of the group, Cheeese, Scott Govaerts, Dave The Owl, quit shortly after this. That being the harm it caused in this instance.
