PLEASE READ THIS STORYLINE NOTICE This takes place in a time frame of a few weeks after Chapter Two. The characters throughout Chapter Two had previously left the cosiness and safety of the bunker, leading themselves onto the start of a greater journey that will take them through multiple parts of the Eastern Coast of the United States. At first they infiltrate a still under construction Combine supply depot, crucial to their operations in the sector, the Long Haulers came into contact with human collaborators such as the Conscripted Functionaries of former pre-war military members and civilians. After a very hectic firefight and managing to hijack a train, they eventually wind up into the American countryside.
Following that advance, they first meet with the American resistance group known as "The Patriots", a former collective of American citizens disgruntled with the alien occupation after the loss of the Seven Hour War. As their train was derailed by The Patriots, the resistance group escorted them towards one of their outposts - a disabled missile silo with a bunker inbuilt into the mountainside. This is where they would have spent their night along with relocating towards their main compound at "Castle Base." Coming into blows with the Combine for yet another time, they Long Haulers eventually escaped the valley by sewage tunnel passageways and networks. This is when they had reached the main quarantine zone of City One after a few days journey. After escaping the quarantine zone and reaching the border of the Eastern Bastion and the main contingent of City One, they have set themselves a new home before the time to move is yet again upon them.

*Brief summary of the character: British loyalist that felt the need to reinstate the society as quick as possible for the normal life of other people.
*Why do you want to play this character?: I want to see my limits and if I can really help people have fun while playing a story character and see if I am really capable of leading, give something to remember.
Full Backstory (required for Event Characters, but others may do this if they want to): A man in his late twenties, standing six feet sharp. He is speaking with the Northen British accent, closer to the Yorkish. He was born in York and raised in the family of one mother and one sister - father abandoned them after the birth of the second child. Ever since the childhood, mother have told William the importance of order and the need to help, the need of strength and so the boy was trying his best to be the breadwinner in the family, helping the mother. He was overcoming the hardships in the family, but that didn't deter him. In the end, he managed to finish school, and even get a degree in physics.
Being a man, who was on the balance between law and crime, trying to help his family as much as possible, he many times had to make tough decisions. And during Seven Hour War was no exception. And, being fooled by the Universal Union, that he and his family will be safe, he conscripted and later managed to get his bearings in Civil Protection when the first cities were established. What a fool he was.

*Brief summary of the character: Your standard convict that was 'liberated' from the Lincoln correctional facility by the and straight up placed under civil protection with the promise of a better life. He stands at about 5'10, seems rather average in terms of body-build and speaks with in your standard east coast american accent.
*Why do you want to play this character?: I am the lead of the faction and I want to interact with the players that will be probably present in on the base server. Also it's been a while since I've experienced this type of character and it would be a bit more refreshing to try and roleplay in freshly made workforce.
Full Backstory (required for Event Characters, but others may do this if they want to): Andrew lived a life in poverty around Bronx.By the early age of 14, not to anyone's surprise, he turned to a life of crime; we're not talking about the high stakes, robbing banks type; we're talking about the pathetic attempt of stealing purses from old ladies only to end up getting beaten up two blocks away later by some other kids that are bigger and tougher than you. Needless to say, after a few years of hanging around with the wrong people, he ended up in a juvenile correctional facility that quickly ended up with him being transferred to prison once he was no longer considered a minor.
Fast forward to the 7 hour war. New York putting quite a bit of a fight, however most of the inmates from the correctional facility managed to already riot against the warden, resulting in the inmates escaping the facility with minimum effort. After the so-called 'peace treaty' was enacted, Andrew, being still only 27 years of age, roamed the streets of the now reformed New York city now properly named City 01, in an attempt to find his family only to find out days later that they've been relocated and separated from one another. Now with no purpose under the new regime he managed to seek refuge in the new workforce known as Civil Protection where, compared to his colleagues who still had a moral ground, he quickly learned the way of the combine, brutalizing the population with ease and keeping everyone in check, earning him multiple benefits, together with the early benefits of the so-called family cohesion. Now he's currently stationed in the stable region of City 01, together with his squad members

*Brief summary of the character: While most of the male's physical appearance would be concealed under the standard-issue equipment given to each member of the Civil Protection Unit once seen without his mask on it'd be clear that the caucasian male has seen a great amount of pain in his life as his facial features would slope down from both the emotional exhaustion he's faced as well as simple physical trauma. Indicated by the shiv scare on his right cheek. He'd also have dark brown eyes matching neatly with his CAREFULLY maintained gunslinger moustache.
*Why do you want to play this character?: Same reasons as to why I had previously. Why I love playing both my ex-military and FREEDOM LOVING AMERICAN I am always interested in different avenues of RP and truly want to see this event be successful. So I apply for most of the Event Characters to both gain a different perspective as well as assist the EM during the event. Furthermore, I have prior experience RP as a CP and I'm interested in seeing what direction this server will take with the faction

Logon Walker was a young white male living in Detroit with his Older brother Hesh with their farther Elias. They'd never receive any information on the whereabouts of their mother at the time it was assumed by the behaviour of their farther towards the boys that they were some sort of drunken mistake and now trapped with the burden of fatherhood. The kids would be forced to work for their fathers mechanic business. Not enough for the wannabe gangster, he'd hang out in the shader parts of the city. Picking fights with men far above his weight class as though he attempted to prove himself. Only leading to a black eye for the man as while he was able to act the part he was far less than capable to survive in the business he so desired. Being the now unemployed, dropout with not even his brother to protect him after leaving for the military he was offered his first and last taste of the criminal life he so desired. A simple bank robbery. In and out. But even the most simple of heists would prove far too challenging for the group of novices as only five minutes into the heist the group would be arrested after being completely unaware that the silent alarm was already activated by the frantic employees without them being aware of such nad the building surrounded with an army of SWAT.
After pleading guilty to the crime he would be forced to serve a five-year prison sentence for armed robbery. This prison, simply known as North-Rock Pedementary is where the man would receive a true wake up call as he was forced to sleep beside true criminals with more than enough muscle to back up their words. For the next three years would be a living hell for the male as he'd live in what he deemed as ''true crime'' forced to be a slave to the men far more dangerous than him. The only saving grace is that while he was trapped in there it meant security from the horrors which would be known as the Seven Hour War. The prison security was proven to be far outclassed then the interdimensional Empire they were forced to face off against, were swept aside with ease, leaving them confused and aimless criminals under their thump. Whilst many of the convicts would be quickly killed off during their escape attempts or refusal to listen to the new authority the few that survived proved to be worthy volunteers for the to be formally created Civil Protection Force as many of them had the... ''adjustable morals'' necessary for the job as well being shown by their former colleagues who were the new power in play. *Character Name: Vincent Dahl
*Brief summary of the character: Average built male, standing around 6’1 (1.85 m) tall, blue eyes, short brown hair. Speaks with a slight German accent.
*Why do you want to play this character?: I am interested in playing a Civil protection unit on the server and this is a good opportunity to get some experience in the role.
Full Backstory (required for Event Characters, but others may do this if they want to): Vincent was born to German parents who moved to Chicago about 25 years before the 7 hour war. He spoke mostly German with his parents until he started school where he spoke English but with a slight accent. At age 16 Vincent was an above average student and was on the path of becoming an engineer. Soon after he finished his Mechanical engineering bachelor’s degree and while he was preparing to move to his masters the 7 hour war happened and everything ground to a halt.
After the war he was separated from his family. Because of being constantly bombarded with Union propaganda, he was extremely loyal to the combine in hopes that his family survived the whole affair and won’t be treated badly for his actions. Soon after hearing the benefits that came with joining the ranks of Civil Protection regarding family members and personal benefits, he applied and was accepted. He quickly learned the ropes of the force and abandoned his dreams in hopes for a safer and better life for himself and his family that he has not seen for years.

What's your favourite thing about Half Life? Mostly the aesthetic of the Combine/Union forces portrayed in the games. I feel like it’s a nice balance of crude tech and depression which makes a very nice setting for a Role-play game.

*Character Name: James Eberspacher
*Brief summary of the character: A German, caucasian male, unemployed at the time of the Seven Hour war. James used to work as a pilot in the commercial flight company Lufthansa. A willingness to adapt and thrive in the New World gradually pushed this rather humorous, tall man towards the role of a Metropolice Force delegate.
*Why do you want to play this character?: I feel like the idea of an immoral ex-con artist, ex-pilot as a Civil Protection officer could be interesting. I intend to try and make James charming in his own way, and I'd like to see how this character would function in the Metropolice force.
Full Backstory (required for Event Characters, but others may do this if they want to): James is a German man, with a rather surprising upbringing considering what he was to become. A low-income household with an abusive family is how James developed into the man he is today. The neighborhood he grew up in was infested by criminals and immoral behaviour, and his family made no feasible attempts at preventing their son from falling prey to questionable influences. At a young age, James, an amoral yet ambitious boy, had begun gathering the money required for his dream. This dream in particular was piloting, and he was willing to do most anything to achieve this. He was more than certain that his family would not provide any financial support for his job, so he didn't even bother asking in fear of a beating or worse. While many of his peers would commit violent crimes and burglaries, James preferred the more social, evasive aspects of crime. He engaged in what he saw as a beautiful craft: Cons. James was relatively low-profile, the kinda guy who'd come to "fix" old people's computers, and then break them even further and demand additional cash due to the "hazards" of the work. He of course wouldn't begin working until the amount agreed upon had been paid in full, and he only worked "alone". That's when he'd sneak out. He'd do this often, alongside his work as a waiter, where he'd be the waiter of their dreams, assuming he sees a possibility of adequate tips.
Time flies by, and the grind pays off. An older James had enough "clean" money to buy the training for his flight certificate. Approximately two years go by, and James is declared a pilot. He was ecstatic, and had the best five years of his life, until a serious event resulted in his dismissal. This dismissal was kept secret, and it's only known by him, his employer and the victim. In a short time, he moves down the social ladder and lands at rock bottom again, barely scraping by on the money he had left from his short-lived piloting days. Another day, another night. Pointlessness. A full, depressing year goes by before the Resonance Cascade occurred. The Seven Hour war follows shortly after, and before he can even begin to comprehend his new reality, an extraterrestrial force had taken over Earth as he knew it. He ponders on a bench, gazing out into nothing. Suddenly, a cold, monotone voice wails through the speakers across the city. "CITIZEN NOTICE: VOLUNTARY CONSCRIPTION PROGRAM FOR THE CIVIL PROTECTION FORCE UNDERWAY, MOVE TO HARDPOINT APEX." A smirk begins to form alongside James' face. He gets up from the bench he's sitting on and begins walking.

What's your favourite thing about Half Life? Dispatch and how they communicate and respond with the various Overwatch functionaries is highly interesting to me. That and their citizen reminders.

*Character Name: Jacob Hibbler
*Brief summary of the character: Jacob A. Hibbler is a Caucasian male aged approx. 19 YOA. He is a decently-built individual with short brown hair and a pair of impressively green eyes. He had a fashionable eye for bright, colorful clothing before such apparell became unwise to wear in these apocalyptic ages. Although alterant in behavior and with a somewhat grievous personality, he can easily be described as "warm" or "kindly". This often barely manages to eclipse a mildly depressive demeanor.
*Why do you want to play this character?: Jacob Hibbler is arguably one of my oldest characters across HL2RP, and he is also the first character I've made on Willard Industries. I enjoy playing him very much, and so far, Short Stories has allowed for a great modicum of character development to be made for Hibbler. I would like to be a part of an official chapter progression. It honestly just sounds like a whole lot of fun.
Full Backstory (required for Event Characters, but others may do this if they want to): Hibbler was born to a David and Amanda, four years after his half-brother, Kennedy Manning. Between the three, he easily had the best relationship with his mother. His sibling, however, was remarkably distant, and his father even more so; David Hibbler was more caught up in scientific obsessions (which would never see the light of day due to the Seven Hour War, unfortunately) than he was in the affairs of his child's life. David would disappear mysteriously on the eve of the Seven Hour War, Amanda and Kennedy would shelter in the house, and Jacob would flee his hometown to avoid the Combine snare. He would errantly search for refuge over the next couple of months, avoiding unnatural and unsavory creatures and hostile overlords, and the cities, most of all, until discovering the haven-like Pawn Shop in the Quarantine Zone.

Tell us about yourself: I'm a resident complainer. In most servers I've gone to where they were low in quality, my purpose has been to bitch until staff got their act together. Fortunately, I've not needed to bitch too much in this server, which is why I have quite a good feeling about it. Apart from that, I'm what you'd call a disaster gay. I am incredibly anxious (but hide it most of the time) coming into new servers, which is why I actually had to ask RAD-X for help making this very application, out of fear for making myself look like an idiot.

*Brief summary of the character: While living in the city of Cleveland in Ohio, his place of birth, Winston worked as a freelance truck driver for various companies. This worked him up to be the rather short 5'9, but hardened man he is today. Since life under Combine rule isn't all peaches and cream, the trucker look still follows him today - dark messy hair, an unkempt rat's nest of a beard and clothes with an unimaginable amount of stains. Most of his employers would describe him as an outgoing charismatic man at best, and at worst a jittery on-edge mess of a human being.
*Why do you want to play this character?: I haven't really played any junkies, so I wanted to give that a go. I've always enjoyed signup events like the better ones on Nebulous, so it should be fun.

*Character Name: Akagi Yoshiyuki
*Brief summary of the character: Akagi is a laid back young man in his early twenties, his parents originally hailing from Japan, he's a second-generation Immigrant, born in the United States. He stands at the height of 5 foot 8 inches with short black hair, and amber eyes. Akagi as the oldest son took the task of enlisting in the MPF to secure a safe living standard for his parents and younger sibling.
*Why do you want to play this character?: As a holder of the CP whitelist, I wish to dabble a bit into the faction early on to get my bearings set. Coincidentally, this would prove to be perfect opportunity to get a sense as to how the faction would function with a 'headcop' being the field leader.
Full Backstory (required for Event Characters, but others may do this if they want to): Akagi was born and raised in the states, a true red-blooded American if it wasn't for his original heritage being Japanese. He grew up with a strict hand from his father who wanted him to value tradition and his heritage, Akagi didn't really want any of that Kendo/Samurai stuff, he'd rather indulge himself in the American lifestyle and the all the freedoms it offered. It wasn't until he actually grew up to be an adult, and his mother befalling ill with cancer, that he started to grow an interest in his origins, learning from his father with a deep sense of regret. From there on out he dedicated himself to assisting his family, beginning to work in a, of course, in stereotypical fashion; sushi restaurant. Under the guidance of his 'Itamae' (sushi chef), he took up the art of perfectly preparing a good sushi meal while earning his pay to support his family as they lived under one roof with the medical bills for his mother stacking up for years. Upon the invasion of the combine, Akagi was promised treatment for his mother and improved living conditions if he were to enlist early on in the Metropolitan Forces alongside everyone else, at least that was what the broadcasts and posters promised. Akagi had now found himself in City 01 as an officer of the Metropolitan Forces, enduring the setbacks under the command of his field leader as they aim to reclaim an area, vigilant and diligent with every step of the way. He was but a young, motivated, man trying to fight for what he thought was best for his family, and ultimately over time, mankind.

*Brief summary of the character: Think of a handsome, smooth, charismatic black Scouser fella swaggering right out of a Liverpool bar after a long night of scoring chicks and creating legendary stories for the lads. That's not Arwen, but he'd like you to believe his facade of ultra coolness. He's a chav from the old world, a low-life before the Bloody Seventh turned him into a freedom fighter. He wasn't always so bold, even post-war he could barely be considered a rebel. But - after enough years of being paid in dust, watching your friends get beaten for being in the wrong place wrong time, and eating wood shavings - you might as well stand up for a free life (or die trying). After a few scars, bad deals, and close calls, Arwen may find himself in one of those funny little situations he likes to call "destiny".
*Why do you want to play this character?: he's just fun, impulsive. plenty of people could use a bit of lightening-up these days, yeah?

What's your favourite thing about Half Life?: half-life alyx introduced a lot of new things for the series that revived my interest, but i wasn't really sold on returning to the setting until i played the last of us 2 ironically enough. i don't care about the sci-fi, i don't care about the brutality Orwellian dystopia (that i could argue for years about how it would never work). i like stories of hope, prosperity, friendship (like lord of the rings ), and selflessness. surviving hell on earth and still finding humanity. servers like nebulous and willard seem to lay a great foundation for that sort of thing and it makes me very excited

*Character Name: Ryan Henderson
*Brief summary of the character: Ryan Henderson was born in Oregon, United States. He worked as a mechanic before in his life. Now he's living on the outskirts of the city and was doing fine on his own. He escaped the previous city he was forcefully conscripted to that is. He is a 5'11 white male that has generic clothing of a dark coat some dark pants and generic boots.
*Why do you want to play this character?: I think that my character is an interesting person and could bring interesting interactions and experience for the players that might encounter him. I also want to participate in an event with a minor character to experience it fully without yet losing much in case if things go south.
Full Backstory (required for Event Characters, but others may do this if they want to): Ryan Henderson was born in Oregon, United States, Portland. He was a quiet kid in the kindergarten. He was pretty average at everything he was tasked with. In junior high, he peaked his performance of physical education well. After that, he just simply graduated high school with an average score. He had to move on with his life so he started working as a car mechanic in several different car-repair companies and whatnot. After the war ended and the earth population surrendered, he was conscripted forcefully and became a simple citizen. He lived his life fine, but he didn't like it a lot. He lost all his ties to the previous world, including his family. He couldn't make any friends in the residential block he lived in. After a while, he was fed up with everything bad this life has given him. He hated Civil Protection officers that constantly raided his block and his apartment, detained him a few times for no reason in his point of view. Been beaten and punished by them for nothing. The constant hate he received at the block from a few individuals. Some threw a few fights at him, he managed to defend firmly but Civil Protection was called and he got detained once again. After that day once he was released he decided that he had enough of this and he should leave this place. He scouted around the city pretty well and knew most locations that might lead him out. And so on one of the nights, he sneaked out from the residential block he was in. By avoiding civil protection patrols and cameras he managed to get to the slums area, where it was much easier for him to flee out. He then found sewers and other slum areas that were leading out towards the outskirts of the city. Where he managed to find himself a nice shelter after hours of exploring. Luckily he didn't encounter any danger on his way there. He lived there for months now and been doing fine over-all.

What's your favourite thing about Half Life? The atmosphere of the utopia and the outskirts from the previous world, the oppressing force of the Universal Union strictly controlling the earth's population and is slowly watching it to extinct. The deep immersion it creates that the world is now depressing and sad if you think deep into it.
