Would be cool for gamemasters to be able to set varying levels of emotional sanity to player so they can better display what another player sees

The order from high sanity to low:
- Nervous
- Anxious
- Paranoid
- Hysterical
- Insane

This would work same as the disease system in red text, i.e. "Seems to be nervous"
Additionally the sanity system would be temporary in seconds:
/CharSetSanity [Player] [Time] [Type]

This would heavily benefit gamemasters as they can then force certain attributes against players if they do actions that would warrant it. For example, Johnny Citizen accidentally kills a CivPro; or not who knows, either way he isn't a killer. A gamemaster could enforce the hysterical trait for five minutes as adrenaline rushes through the player, other players could then see that this person is looking oddly suspicious. Or Johnny Citizen could successfully calm himself down and remain nervous for a little while, which is normal for a person, it allows him to lie through his teeth.

It could also allow for character traits and an opportunity for characters to work on psychological roleplay better.

make cigarettes decrease insanity, at least for the paranoid to nervous levels
this ensures that cigarettes have benefits and dont just make your character look cool

Edit: Might be a cool idea to add medications to treat different levels of sanity (CMU gaming)!

my only issue with this, this feels like it would conflict with how people want to play their own characters. As sanity being a real problem, it should more or less be up to the person playing a character to depict how their sanity is.

for those more interested in immersion and fluidity, they may so choose to have their character descent into madness, but for those who wish to just keep a casual joe, they shouldn’t have to be forced to play such, just because a gamemaster sees it fit.

then again i could be entirely misreading the suggestion

Of course if you use cigarettes to cure your sanity, it will slowly increase back to a set amount forcing you to smoke another. Haha addiction cycle.

Hello @Deverinity

Alongside another system we are currently developing, I will take this into consideration and potentially tie it with existing ones.

Consider this suggestion accepted for now!

Kind regards
