Synopsis
Overall, this post is made to fix Athens from its current state which at the very moment the influence area is a literal square with two areas that don't even connect to it, which makes the whole city look like it was made in under one minute, but let's get to the main part of all of this.

Map Areas



Western Fringe
The western fringe of Athens is the primary location for housing and commerce within the city. It is guarded moderately by the many Civil Protection precincts throughout all of its small cubicle districts. The streets of the fringe itself are kept clean by the many Biotics which are mandatorily enlisted in cleaning public areas of City-38, it's safer here.

Eastern Fringe
if the Western Fringe was the good part of Athens then the Eastern Fringe is where much of squaller and low-class ruffians lie in crowded apartment blocks built after the Junta era. Industrial areas are found here producing building materials as well as some ordnance warehouses which are fenced and guarded by Golden Brigade troops. A small area is known as the "Vonnigan Ghetto" lies deep in the heart of the fringe, tribes of wailing Vortigaunts are burrowed in small and dirty courtyards. Civil Protection and Golden Brigade troops are often seen once a week beating at the Biotic population now and again. There is much to be desired...

Port
The Port serves as Athens's only way of receiving resources from around the world, the port is guarded heavily along with the nearby town of Salamina in case an armed attack from the latter location were to happen. Ships carrying food, fuel, building materials, and munitions all pass through the harbor day in and day out. The port is also comprised of three dockyards taking in mostly supply and in some cases military vessels. It is a vital location in keeping Athens's stockpile of resources steady.

Fishing Town
The fishing town of Skaramagas is known for its large production of seafood which is distributed to the city as well as around the world. The fish is said to be free from parasites and other alien sea creatures due to a device at the bottom of the gulf called the Alien-Marine-Dispersion-Device or more commonly known as a "Sea Thumper" by the locals. The fishermen of the town have created a monopoly on the fish market and at times attempt to rival each other on who catches the most fish in a day.

Converted Airstrip
The former army airstrip of Elliniko has been converted into the secondary headquarters of Airwatch forces in Greece second to the City-38 Nexus. Hangars contain many Combine and other NATO aircraft, the facility is surrounded by large Combine metal fencing and in what remains of the old barracks and control towers are now desolate radio towers and other active Combine machinery with sit atop the roofs of the buildings.

The Old City
The very beating heart of Humanism's culture and influence in Greece as well as the world. The perimeter of the city is walled by marble bastions on every tower lies a soldier perching for any action that could warrant instability for the city. The streets are patrolled by the loyal Golden Brigade in their khaki uniforms of ornate regalia. The buildings are dressed with azure banners and flags of the city, at the very core lies the Nexus of City-38, a sight of marvel and to some, macabre.

Locations


The Ark of Arts
Located within Athens's old city, mankind's work is preserved and gawked at inside this facility. Though The Combine itself may not care for the Trivial works of man, they gave authorization to both Nicolau and the Golden Brigade to take many artifacts from around the world including a list of sculptures and renaissance paintings. The building was built in 2007 out of the remains of the Greek Parliament, the interior rebuilt from the ground and up and officially inaugurated and officialized by Dr. Wallace Breen himself. The justification for the creation of the Ark was to protect humanity's century-long legacy of philosophy, literature, music, and arts. Uniforms from decades and centuries past, books long written and published, records and music boxes from composers long forgotten yet immortalized in the Ark. Many figures of administration including Sectoral Administrators have visited the Ark and have commended it for it is a relic of humanity's prime ingenuity.

The Vonnigan Ghetto
The Vonnigan Ghetto, a slum for all Biotics within the city, a small population of humans live in the area, just as filthy and brute as their Biotic inhabitants. Buildings are reinforced with rusting metal plates and marked with stains of the Vortigaunt language, smoke rising from the houses of the area. A small precinct of the Golden Brigade often armed with gas masks and batons is here to keep the rabble of the slum away from the rest of the city, and they do it right. Crowds gather by a fountain now plated in steel and grimy tarp often to barter and discuss with one another. The resistance within the area can barely hold onto itself with the shortage of food as well as the large discontent Vortigaunt tribes.
