Recent Events: Gloria a Margolis!

Background: Bogotá, Columbia was an easily overlooked City in the early 21st century. Despite the fact that Columbia itself had been going through low-intensity political turmoil and conflict, the country itself still thrived. This was until the Black Mesa Incident in 2001.

Bogotá and Columbia in general were hit fairly hard due to its proximity to The Amazon and the Amazon's portal storms. Refugees flooded into the City and the Columbian Conflict escalated. Columbia and Bogotá would remain hotspots until the Seven Hour War when it was swiftly conquered by The Combine.

Like many other attempts at the establishment of a formal Urban Protection Center, Columbia was no different. Originally distended to be labeled as City 63, paramilitary forces associated with the Columbian Conflict delayed the formal take-over of the region be several months. Combine efforts to quell the masses and prepare the heart of Colombia for a transitional phase resulted in less than desirable results. Being heavily distracted by ongoing issues across the contentment, request for additional manpower and resources fell upon deaf ears. Despite being established, City 63 was far from stable.

In the early occupation after the establishment of City 63, one man quickly began to undo the efforts of the Combine to obtain an iron grip within the country. Edgar Margolis, a highly decorated war veteran responsible for leading countless military forces during the initial invasion, established the framework for what would be come the official Unity Junta of Columbia. Despite being an initial foe of the Combine efforts, Edgar found himself drawn to the raw and seemingly untapped potential that came with the throne of leader of this new found Unity. After rising through the ranks as an military tactician for the Combine Ground forces, Edgar and his fellow advisors plotted to overthrow the established Combine leadership and obtain full control over the region of City 63. In March of 2018, after years of planning and plotting, the coup took place. It was mostly bloodless and soon enough, City 63 was no more. All that was left was The Junta that replaced it. Edgar and his Junta seemingly have no wishes to fully dispel the rule and word of law set forth by The Combine, but rather reshape and mold his own Empire in his own image. The agenda of him and his cabinet would reach far and wide, drawing in crowds from all walks of life to see the legend that was Edgar Margolis, the man who bested the invaders and crowned himself ruler of his new found nation.

Under the Junta, Bogotá has remained operating under similar conditions to other Union designated settlements and have shown no ill-will towards The Combine other than the bloodless coup of the previous Administration. However, The Junta now is completely autonomous and are Combine only in name. The U.J.C consists of soldiers both volunteer and conscripted, as well as citizens from all walks of life that believe in creating their own image of the Combine rule though new means of existence for the people and their leaders. Giving birth to a new Combine faction with an agenda unlike another else.

Unity Junta of Columbia Influence

(Blue)
A hybrid of both Combine and Human grade infrastructure that has been integrated into the rundown remains of Colombia's former capital. The city streets are cramped with activity and often limited in access by the Junta. Striders cautiously step over busy marketplaces as checkpoints remain packed with conscripts like sardines. A collective Hub of activity that is never quiet. Leader Edgar Margolis is always watching from the safety of his Nexus.

Camp Chia

(Red)
Enemies of the state, prisoners of War, and even political enemies can find themselves ending up here. A China is a makeshift labor camp that houses those who are deemed to be too much of a threat. A former community that has been jerry-rigged into a resource Gathering operation for the betterment of the Junta. Located far beyond the city walls, this is not a desirable place to land.

Fort Eladio Military Operation Ground

(Yellow)
Everyday, the forces of Edgar and his Junta grow with eager volunteers that seek to expand the influence of the new Empire of their righteous leader. Enthralled by the new access to combine technology and the extensive amount of progress made with just a matter of months, militarism and nationality feed the ranks with ease.

UJC Resource Operation Region
(Green)
Perhaps one of the biggest motivators to draw and foreign citizens to the region would be the massive landscape of employment opportunities that can be found within the UJC's resource gathering operation region east of the city limits. Farming, Mining, and logging not only create jobs for the locals but also support the development of the UJC with each passing month.

ACCEPTED.

This is phenomenal, well put and fits the universe of Half Life extremely well.
