Consider a Map change.

The outlands of C8 Allows a happy medium, A safe area for the resistance to gather plan and train for operations without the constant fear of sweeps exterminating rebel rp. c17i on the other and is wildly popular amongst the fanbase And always gets good population, It has bases that can support good to decent rebel rp aswell. And in the city its condensed and there's ample housing and room for passive rp.

I fully agree about crime/gangs, I'd personally love to see criminal gangs and Resistance become a thing but to be seperate things with different goals, Think the cartels and Taliban different.
To be honest I’d love to play on C17i or just C17 in a serious pretence. I feel like it’d be cool but I don’t mind what people do

Well, it wouldn't be too terrible to swap to another map in the lead up to C24 v 3.5.

Make things fresh for a bit before the explosive re-reveal. But it has obvious issues and consequences which may harm the population in the long run. C24 might be feeling a bit stale, but comparatively it's the most fresh HL2RP map on the Workshop. The others have been left on the sidewalk for a long time now.

The server will be down from dec-13 to Jan-1 so I figure it'll be a nice change before the break and re-release.

Map rotation is key to combat boredom

not really. it's a very impermanent solution, like putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound

the issues run much deeper in hl2rp. bottom line is that people get burnt out after playing 24/7 on a server where they're expected to be on as if it's a full time job. they don't get paid and they'd rather do other shit

this is alleviated by new players taking their place but hl2rp does not get very many new players

hl2rp is waning, that's nothing new. Map rotation helps the server feel less stale, but doesn't stop it from rotting.

Fixing Hl2RP's decline is not the point of this thread, but just alleviating the stale feeling c24 has.

hl2rp has been dying since 2019 and now its on its last legs, thats rly just it

There's a map update on the way. That will freshen things up a bit, as well as the winter break, to help those who start to feel burned out.
As for City 8, it's the best map and I will destroy anyone who says otherwise.
Jokes aside, people hate on City 8 because it splits the playerbase in two with the outlands, but, just... block it off? Edit it and remove it? You shouldn't hate on the entire map when the whole problem can be fixed by you just placing a single prop down in front of the outlands entry.

This lmao - people keep saying it, and yet hl2rp is still here. It has lost its meaning at this point

yea except from the large serverlist there's only 2 active servers left (excluding the russians) - Nebulous and Willard.

90% of nebulous' community has moved on and Nebulous itself is moving on to GTA

Gmod developers have moved on

everything dies, its not a bad thing necessarily

i try to enjoy it while it lasts

You sort of missed the point I think.

If you block The OL off you either may as well not use the edit (as that is one of the main selling points) or accept that rebels probably just won't play because they're crammed into an incredibly small sewer that was never designed with their style of gameplay in mind. One or two good retaliation sweeps will wipe them out which encourages them to do nothing (less than they do now) and eventually not play.

Its nothing 99% of communities don't go through but at this point your only two choices are focus on the city entirely and make rebels a secondary experience (for better or worse) or have a map where they can go off into a corner and be self-sufficient.

The playerbase split is never going away, its just a matter of how the community chooses to handle it from now on.

i've heard this from 2016 bro

Long gone are the 'glory days' of the biggest communities being able to max out their main server all day every day and/or carry multiple servers comfortably. Serious HL2RP is certainly on a slow decline, just not as quick as everyone is saying.

There's no shame in admitting that - it isn't like WN is breaking new ground after all.

Personally, I really hope the new update has either more bases or they're at least a bit more spread out. then having the only two bases you could theoretically live in be next to one another and one in the sewers which is pm inaccessible long term due to spores. Would be nice if we had spore air pockets in the sewers in spots such as the vents.

Return to the Terranova roots.

One Month of D47, City-17 as a major event. Set around two years before Terranova, and run by rank-and-file staff members on a voluntary basis since the management wants to take a break. After the one month is over, just return back to City-24 and continue roleplaying our shitty existence.

Imagine, we get to see the origins of the White D*ves and Ron Goodfella!

we dont tend to agree a lot but i actually liked this comment by George "Wookie" Bush

just move to city 8, and use city 8's outlands for something legal idfk. or even better, move to that industrial map aspect made an edit of. or even even better, c18 updated.

Hi,

I understand where you're coming from; in many communities it's a habit of changing maps to combat the issue of boredom. However, we won't be changing map's as of right now; why? Well one reason is the work Atle has put into this map itself, unlike other communities, this map is our map and was developed during the time we were down. Along with this, he is also working on a overhaul which updates can be found on the forums; from personal viewing, this edit combats many issues with the map, but also adds many features which would achieve the same conclusion to us switching maps.

I can promise that we'll take notes from this thread, it's useful to see people's opinions on the map, and any issue's / concerns are very much worth listening too, but for now I'll deny this suggestion with the promise that we're developing a new map, with features added and would achieve the same which changing the map would do.

It is also worth mentioning that we will be changing our maps in the near-future to fit where we are in the new, upcoming overarching storyline for the server; so you guy's can expect us to be changing maps when needed, tying in nicely with the storyline which will occur!

Any questions, shoot me a DM; more then happy to help. :)
