The amount of combine locks on the doors of the CCA ministries and Unions is unbelievable.
Limiting the amount of Combine Locks in each of the buildings owned by a union/CCA Ministry would be a good way to allow rebel players to actually try and push into the city rather than rely on shot-copping for the acquisition of resources.
Why do the loyalist factions have Combine-locks everywhere?
If the CWU/CMRU had less combine locks, and instead replaced them with simple pad-locks or key entities, they could be pick-locked which would encourage more rebel excursions into 'loyalist' areas.
I suggest that Some method be added for factions to print their own door keys in a similar way to how the civil terminal assigns apartment keys, only these particular keys will only function on doors for the respective faction areas.
This would allow factions to secure their bases without the need for:
Padlocks which prompt you to type something in
Or several bio locks that have 5000 hp each and ping all civil protection when they blow up
Here are the Pros and Cons (IC&OOC) from my perspective and understanding.
Pros:
Don't need to fret about access levels as you can just give a mass-produced key to people
Encourages Rebel RP (Forging Keys, Pick-locking, maybe they'd actually try and take equipment from the unions)
IC Pros:
Less costly to manufacture
Combine locks can be re-purposed for other areas or exported.
Less costly to repair/maintain
Easier distribution of Access Keys
Cons:
Depending on the method used, it may require multiple keys for one building, or a singular key that accesses all doors.
If the CMRU or CWU do get robbed, it could effectively shut down the operations of the faction until the resource management of the Unions can refit the lost materials which could cost thousands of credits.
IC Cons:
Less Security for certain areas.
No alarm will be activated if there is a break in.
If one of the keys is taken, it could be copied and multiple forgeries of the original key could be developed, compromising security.
I do not think all combine locks should be removed, as it wouldn't make sense to have all the resources locked behind a normal door that isn't bio-locked. This method is rather intended for rebels only needing to get through one door with a combine lock as opposed to 5 combine locks.
