FEARS TO FATHOM
The year is 1989, amidst the Satanic Panic and War on Heavy Metal. It seems as if every time you turn on the TV, there is a new case about the profane nature of Rock, or even worse, a new case of children admitting to satanic rituals within the confines of daycares propagated by their staff. This hysteria has seemingly taken control of the American public. Each man and woman seems to be paranoid than before, everyone sleeping a little less soundly at night.

You are a group of campers, and park rangers spending their vacation in Olympic National Park, Washington State. This neat vacation you once thought it would be, will soon turn to the worst. Leaving you questioning just what you saw, and just what you heard in those woods the night before.

This is a light horror event.

PARKS SERVICE (PARK RANGERS (0/3)
Individual workers for the National Parks Service. You have some authority over the campers, and access to exclusive equipment and areas. That is to say, you are the eyes and ears of old Uncle Sam in these parts.

CAMPERS (0/10)

People who have come to spend their summer weekend in the beautiful park, from all over the states. Campers can take special varieties of equipment with them, either it be extra food or even hunting weaponry. As well, you may have unique skills or knowledge that could help you. You may also choose to be related or friends with certain other characters, as long as it's approved upon OOCLY.

''Vamos hijo, suelta esa guitarra. No te llevará a ninguna parte en la vida.''

Children are born, children are aborted... What was Milo's mom gonna do? She was barely eighteen when the horrible news of her pregnancy hit her at the long-awaited prom party. So innocent, and so young, deceived by that scoundrel of her high-school sweetheart; Who was nothing short of a thug, bastard didn't even show up to dance with her even though she was so excited about it! But, hey, maybe it wasn't all so bad... Maybe she could take the opportunity to have this baby and change the boy she loved into a man, and so the foolish girl did it. She decided to keep the baby.

The pregnancy wasn't a easy one, quite the opposite. Milo's mom had to quit the cheer-leading team and take lessons from school, because the pain was too much to bear for her already frail body. And her father, esteemed lieutenant of the local police department, was severly disappointed in her, and the guy was so mad he beat Milo's father to a pulp once he got a hold of the ''MOTHERFUCKING BEANER WHO DEFILED MY DAUGHTER''. But hey, I guess that helped Milo's father realize it was time to stop messing around and start acting like a man.

So, the wannabe gangster, got a job at a local mechanic's shop and became his apprentice; Quickly learning the ropes and eventually becoming a fully-trained mechanic just a few months before Milo's birth! And the mother, battling every day against the struggles of teen pregnancy, was studying hard to get into the best medical college of the state. But you know what helped the two get through all of this? They had each-other, and they loved one another so damn much, even with the occasional racist comment made by her father... But hey, we all have that family member, right?

And so, the long awaited day finally arrived, eight hours of intense labour, tears, sweat, blood, and puke from Milo's dad... The baby finally exited! A healthy child weighing three kilograms, the sunshine of his parent's life; Hell, even Milo's Grandpa cried when he saw him! And so, that day, a star was born. Or, at least, that's what Milo defines himself these days... But we'll get to that in a bit.

Milo's childhood was a wholesome and happy one, he was a very sociable kid who had many dreams and aspirations. His mother was a doctor, and his father was a beloved mechanic in their little community, so the kid grew with a good balance of intellet and muscle, appreciating both fields. He loved his parents very much, always ''studying'' (How could a kid properly learn how to treat a deep laceration wound, c'mon) with his mom and helping his father around in the work-shop by passing him tools and such. His academic life was quite above-average, getting good grades while also being in the baseball team.

In his teens, Milo discovered a newly found passion for music. It came from his paternal grandpa, who for his sixteenth birthday, handed him his old guitar and taught him how to play it. Milo learned some easy spanish ballads, moving on to riffs... And eventually breaking through his beloved pop-punk. He loved writing, singing, and obviously strumming his weapon like there was no tomorrow! A true punk-star this guy was, trust me! So much that his parents got WAY too many noise complaints...

Continuing his life, Milo finished High School, found himself a job at his dad's workshop, and saved up enough to buy himself a camper to travel through the USA and bless everyone's ears with his splendid music! At one of the many concerts with his band, ''The Chasing Elephants'', Milo met a beautiful girl who he immediately fell in love with... Only problem? That bitch was going to be the cause he and his band broke up, because she was playing each member's heart like a fiddle. Milo and his beloved band members, his friends, had to cut short their ''SuperStar Tour'' and parted ways soon after.

Now, with a broken heart and anger in his soul, Milo found himself heading back home. His beloved guitar by his side and way too much merchandise of his former band sitting behind his camper, serving only as a reminder of his life-long dream torn to shreds by some bar siren. He decided to take a break from driving, and enjoy a couple of days for himself at the Olympic National Park, maybe finding new inspiration for some brand new music pieces... Or just try and forget about all the shit he went through. Whatever Milo was going to do, he made sure to include music in it, he was determined after all. DETERMINED TO ROCK'N'ROLL THIS PLACE TO THE GROUND, IF NEEDED! WOOHOO!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
BASE/PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Andy, born on American soil; Waterford, Michigan.

His young years were simply put, normal, majority of his life he wanted to be law enforcement, growing up in a Catholic set in his housing never put him away from his wants, even during his high-school years he always had an urge and a want to be something, and soon? He was.

Passing through high-school with mediocre grades, he was fully trained through and through as local law enforcement, moving to Washington due to the jobs position being there.

Soon, after years of his service he was offered a small retirement gig set down in a camping site; it was isolated and open but there wasn't a whole bunch of paperwork.. Nor a lot of criminals per say, though it was better than almost getting shot on the streets.

So, with what he wanted to save from his career he packed up his gear, said his goodbyes to his department and drove out to where his new life-position would be, now living in a small tower that overlooked majority of the wilderness and the camps; only really called down for anything largely needed.

You sure about this, Andy?

About what?
This fucking job got me nearly killed enough times; I ain't gonna settle down with anyone either.

Just.. Listen, man, you're like a brother to me, alright?
I'm worried.. Bears up there don't give two shits if you're on the ground dead or alive, think about it.

Listen, It's a brand new Park, brand new relocation.
No one has gotten *mauled* at all, all there's here though is those weird fucking.. School investigations.

I need to get away from this, for my own good.

. . I can't stop you, Andy.
Send me a postcard when you're there, alright?

. . Alright, Jackie.

(Optional) Unique Skills/Gear and Your Justification:

Would like to start off with the following.

Some paper/notepads
Justification: Well, I can only assume paperwork is in order, no?

Bear mace
Justification: Park Ranger in the woods would have this by logic.

.308/5.56 Hunting Rifle w/scope. (IN A LOCKED LOCKER)
12 Gauge/Deer shot shotgun. (IN A LOCKED LOCKER)
Glock-17 (Holster)
Justification: All of these are what a LEO Park Ranger would have in the real-world; since they're peace officers and are allowed to carry.

Basic food items
Justification: A man's gotta eat!

Basic medical supplies
Justification: A man's gotta stay alive!

Extra gear in a locker.
Explanation: Let's say someone loses their radio, they would come up to the tower (or me) and get a spare one.
Justification: I feel like items like these would be more secure under a Peace officer than Park rangers trying to keep a group of people in check.

A cross around his neck
Justification: He grew up Catholic

Skills

Medium crafting skills
High gun skills
Justification: For nearly the majority of his life he was in law enforcement.

Chet Morales
“What was not given, I could never take.”Short Story.png

Chet was named after a grandfather who first stepped into the murky depths of the Hawk-ridge cave system. Then, it was a nameless undiscovered furrow of darkness and beasts and bugs that sane men would fear to tread upon. Yet, in that darkness did there glimmer a sparkle, a golden yellow light upon the farthest wall. Within the small, gentle underground stream the water churned with careful excitement as it reflected it's secrets to the first human eyes to glance upon it.
He had struck gold, and soon others would too, in his name.

Every male son had since been named after this man. A shadow of fortune and luck which was passed onto each heir like they were but a shadow to that very legacy. Chet Morales, just like his father Chet Morales, was no exception. The boon of this shadow came to be wealth beyond imagination for most of the youth across the United States. From an early age his families legacy was being pulled and expunged from the depths of those very same Hawk-ridge mines, founded all the way back in 1872. Where further riches could not be extracted, deeper shafts could be made so that they would be had anew.

Even in his youth, Chet did not shy from this lifestyle and embraced it whole-heartedly. For him, wanting something was naught but the brief intermission of having it. There was no trend unchased, no fashion out of reach and no style too outlandish for the sole heir of the Morales riches. He didn’t so much chase life but outran it, beating it to the punches of whatever new joy or experience he could muster. Alcohol had found purchase on his tongue by Fifth grade. Weed had filled his lungs in honor of Middle-school's onset. Not long after these he had fired guns, driven cars and committed numerous petty crimes just for the sake of the experiences, all.

The first shift of the wind came Freshmen year, not longer than a week within his stay. The mine was running low. No deeper shafts could be manned, no costs of sustaining the Hawk-Ridge could ever be justified. Yet, his father did just that. Before long, the tide of life seemed to settle once more, some gold was found and the costs were sustainable for years to come even with the present deficit. Not that it mattered much to Chet. He knew the mine only from a distance. An abstract series of tunnels that gave him purchase to carve through life at his own whims.

His peers loved him for it. Handsome, charismatic and an acknowledged pillar of his local Wildcat football team, Chet did not want any more for friends or lovers than he did material goods. One often begets another, and he found no harm in this system of exchanges. He lived for the applause, the recognition of his family's affluent contributions to his hometown's many projects. A bench sat out with his name upon it's back. Only the jealous or spiteful held him in contempt. Both honored and honorable, he coursed his way through the final schooling days until, at last, the years finally did come.

The mine was dry.

It was summer when he sat about the family table, its varnished sandalwood surface and craftsman embroidering a memory to come. The mine was dry, and the family coffers were rapidly following. What little pittance was gathered from the deep earth dented not even its own cost. By the time that bus came around for the first time, for the last time, it was shut down entirely. Then the deterioration came. Bankruptcy was added to his vocabulary, familial stresses once alien became commonplace. A divorce followed while both parties still had the capital for a lawyer. Rapidly little pieces of his life began to vanish.

The pool was filled in, the maintenance far too much a drain. The expensive cars went next, without a beat, including his own. His most prized Lamborghini Countach left his driveway in the hands of a family friend willing to give a better price than the dealership which sold it. He never saw them while furniture slowly vanished. He never saw them while vacations, once a hallmark of any given year, were never spoken of.

His performance and recognition among his schoolwork and peers went next. By the time he realized that, in most cases it was his doing, it was far too late to make amends. Solace came in the form of unquantifiable amounts of hemp. Then bi-weekly binges of alcohol. Wasn't long before cocaine satisfied an itch he never thought to have. He tried them all before of course, but he didn’ like them then. Made life pass by too quick.18 months ago he’d only drink so long as there were enough friends nearby to remember the night for him. Now, he wanted it all forgotten.

No scholarships. No real skills. What could not be bought could not be taken.

Graduation came, but only one Chet attended. The other, with his high schools heraldry embroidered proudly on his back, hopped onto a city bus. From there he followed the road with nothing but a backpack at his side, and one destination in mind. Olympic National Park. The site of a childhood memory so bright, he could make out faint visitations of that old joy despite being only one year beyond a toddler. He would see it clearly soon, and only after that, would he embrace the void that had become his future.

GEAR:
6-inch .357 Single action Colt Python. Full cylinder (6 shots)
Chet has no real idea what he will find in Olympic National Park. Nothing parts uncertainty like a .357 cartridge. As such, he brought one full cylinder. Useful for both wildlife and maybe, should the night really feel just right, it could be of further use to him.

Ziploc baggie of Cocaine with a straight razor.
Nothing like a little nose powder to take the edge of mystery away. And to enhance whatever answers you may find. A newfound addict couldn’t possibly be caught so far away from his supplier without at least a few hits left.

Character Name: Rob Dove
Character Faction: Camper
Character Backstory: Rob was a fresh graduate from college, and felt like he could use a little break from the overwhelming chaos of the city. The 80s were an era of sky-rocketing crime, and he didn't feel like sticking around for the world of RoboCop to become a reality. At 23 years old, he was quite ready to get himself a proper job... but maybe he'll start looking after he got his break. He opted to go camping by himself for once, wondering what it was like to do so without any family support. He had told them he was going to do this, but he didn't quite know the logistics of preparing for a solo camper. Even so, it felt close to home, being around a more rural area. Maybe his prior knowledge from his hometown would pay off here.
Unique Skills/Gear and Your Justification: Backpack, spare clothes, water, some sort of canned food, anglehead flashlight, frying pan, lighter, paper towels, sleeping bag. M7 bayonet, Hunting Long-arm and one box of ammunition. (Was thinking of Hunting Rifle but I don't know if there's any in the content. I recall there being an Arisaka or something in the New Frontiers content but haven't seen that since.)
- Going camping for more than a day probably warrants these supplies, and Rob hasn't had the chance to camp by himself before. He accumulated several of these supplies from the local surplus store, while the rest belonged to him. Surplus is cheap for its quality, after all, especially with all the extra gear in the post-Vietnam War environment. Might as well get some natural resources while in the National Park. Within their regulations, of course.

Jack Waleigh

Character Faction:
Park Ranger

Character Backstory:

Born as child of two parents who lived in a town within Texas, Norton had relatively calm childhood. His parents - a father who served in the Vietnam War and mom who was a doctor - always made sure that nothing would be missing in their household. Under their watchful eye, Jack was taught the art of using firearms, as well as strong sense of justice Just like his dad often said, "Righteousness and hospitality get the man a long way". His education in school went without issues, he had quite decent grades - not too bad, not too good, just your average kid. However, Jack wanted more from life. He wouldn't just sit and take things for granted - it was about time to make his papa proud.

And so, after finishing education, Jack signed up for Military at the age of 19 years...just to find for several years that the service wasn't as satisfactory to him as he anticipated. He expected combat, being able to fight for United States just like his father did, and...well, instead, he was just left with monotony and disappointment, even though he performed beyond expectations

Finally, deciding that perhaps Military isn't his gig, Jack resigned under honorable discharge at the age of 28 years and hooked himself up into a Park Ranger position in Washington, keeping a watchful eye - so no funny business happens. Not that too much of that happens, anyway...
Right?
