Steam Name: Curbalas & Stanford
SteamID: STEAM_0:0:97676126

Name of the Admin you were banned by:
Divine
How long is the ban for?:
21 days
The reason you were banned?:
Allegedly metagaming an OTA sweep
Why do you wish to be unbanned?:
I don't even know what I am banned for, I didn't even metagame anything nor did anything malicious, I have been told to make a ban appeal regarding this.
Do you have any picture or video evidence to support your reason?:
I don't even know why I was banned at the first place, so no, other than being told to make an appeal.

Were there any witnesses who can help in this appeal?:
I would ping Stanford, but he got too tired of this constant stuff happening to us and deleted his account, so I will just mention his name. I hope the rest can be handled by people appropriate.

Hi, this will be looked into, I'm not here to provide a verdict, just to give some clarification.

The reason you were banned is because during the expo, it was noted that you used /checkoverwatch. As the command states - it's to be used to see if it's possible to attack Nexus, or a CCA building. The only reason it would be used in the Outlands (to our belief) is to metagame if OTA are coming online. When you were seen trying to find somewhere to hide after using checkoverwatch, the assumption was that you were metagaming OTA's presence and were trying to (as expected), find somewhere to hide/somewhere more preferential to vortigaunt abilities.

However this has caused quite a storm in the staff channel this is being discussed as some feel it was metagame, some feel it wasn't. Not everyone supports such a lengthy ban.

Due to the amount of people debating and nobody really being in a good position to take over the ban it may be left to a vote, even moreso because our usual ban manager is currently very busy IRL.

I hope this has helped clarify why the ban was applied. I don't expect it will take very long for a more refined verdict to be stated here.

This... Really surprises me. Like really, really. If it would satisfy the people who banned me for this, it said "Not enough OTA online." This is a normal thing that players do, which was never counted as metagaming in the past, or more than half of the Rebel scene would've been banned over this.

I was gonna originally quit the game to eat dinner, as the time was exactly like 10 PM when I was hungry. I am just telling this because that's the real story, and I don't know why it was an assumption against me, I checked the stuff, then asked for a crime timer so I could go leave and chill, I was told not to leave by ItsLiam, which I understood, and didn't leave the game.

And if you guys think we metagamed, why did we stay in the open, next to a house... I don't even know how the decision about this was made against us, but it's unbelievable.

Hi,

Seems no verdict was provided on this yet, so came to say that the ban was reduced and should be able to play after Agreed perspective. After staff discussed the ban and the verdict given, we had a vote to see what most believe and after a 50/50 between reduction to 1 week vs 3 weeks or removing the ban, we went with the middle ground due to the mixed vote which was leaving the ban active until the 22/10/24, aka this coming Tuesday.

This talk came about as the ban we found to be far too harsh for first time offence and also found the issue itself as one sitting on more of a grey area than not. Due to this, we believed the ban was not worth 3 weeks and lead to a vote which was split per above mention.

Of course AP is around that time so many not even get the time to play by the time the ban expires but should be all good for playing at 00:00 on Thursday going into Friday.

Thanks,
Rob

BAN REDUCED PER STAFF INTERNAL DISCUSSION/VOTE - 2/3 days remain (22/10/24)
