CWU scripts vendor & PET flags

It's a pity that the CWU has no access to either a script vendor or PET flags. They are virtually unable to organize decent shifts or anything creative and they are also unable to utilize real scripts for their shifts. As of now most work shifts look exactly the same, barely any propping is done unless it was prepared by a premium user or an admin and I know for a fact most people are OOCly already bored of them and join exclusively to grind the loyalist social credits.

There is virtually no way to steal anything, and everything just looks low-effort and bland as most of the tools and machinery are only described inside a /me and not propped.
As for the theft part, there are no scripts and yet the CPs still have to go through a useless and timewasting search at the end of every session, It's all just so lackluster.

You might claim that people may still try to steal something and later ask admins to spawn the actual script, but this method doesn't work for several reasons:
The first being that you'd have to /me stealing the product and everyone in the warehouse would know you did it by simply reading the chat.
The second being that since there is no real product to steal, the player is strongly OOCly discouraged from trying to roleplay it out in the first place.
The third being that there needs to be an admin.
The fourth and last reason being that nobody as of now has tried stealing anything (afaik), and statistically it doesn't make sense. Proof that this system doesn't work and discourages roleplay.

Using actual scripts gives both the CPs overseeing the shift, the conscripted workforce, and the civil workers a reason to not turn off their brain and actually pay attention to what is going on, especially in the case of valuable products being used. A script can accidentally get lost, or get stolen or get somehow destroyed, and all these events would have consequences. On top of that the civil protection units would have a reason not to alt tab during the entire shift and actually keep an eye on what is happening, not to mention that the post-workshift search would have a reason to be a thing.

I propose to AT LEAST give all or only senior CWU workers PET flags, because most shifts lack serious and decent propping and look all the same.
I also propose to grant the CWU a script vendor, because this way they can utilize real scripts and the quality of roleplay and the amount of roleplay opportunities can drastically increase for both them and the conscripted/voluntary workforce, for reasons I listed above.

EDIT: Im sure the rules and/or requirements for the faction can be adjusted to deal with possible PET or Vendor abuses.

I did send one of the devs some ideas for some work shift entities that would involve using actual, smugglable scripts but I don't know if anything ever came from it.

There's a pretty large risk involved with giving the CWU a script vendor, as it'd be quite abusable. We do vet members for the CWU but we are still a fairly large faction.

I'd love for workshifts to be a bit more interactive and actually have some entities and items involved (with /me focused shifts still happening, but not the only option), but we need to rely on the devs to implement something solid that doesn't need any admin intervention.

I'd like to clarify that a shift can utilize real scripts and still be a /me shift.

I'm also aware of your concerns regarding the possibility of Vendor abusers, this is why I proposed to give access to it only to senior CWU members. Regardless, it would be a risk worth taking, in my opinion.

We all know the moment they add scripts though like half of the CWU is going to get executed for losing like, one metal scrap.

executed? nah. More like demoted, fired, punished etc..
It definitely adds a risk factor to the faction and spices things up.

Contrary to your point here, actually, a few people have managed to make off with scripts quite successfully. By doing exactly what you said doesn't work...

There have been a few characters going in with a bare-bones inv and walking out with quite a few metal scraps, cloth, garbage, etc. because they requested an admin and did a very stealthy /me. It looked the same as any other /me in the shift with a sneaky piece of text to indicate they have taken something.

So technically all 4 points are null and void due to the few people who have walked out with more than they came in with.

The only problem currently being that the process is entirely manual by the admin you request.

We could automate by giving a vendor but the only reason we haven't is that we are sceptical of vendors these days. As you may have noted from CPs if you are in it, the weapons in their vendor, as well as their grenades, were taken away from the vendor due to abuse. We want to develop a system where either:

A) Only certain people with a special flag can use said vendor and strict OOC rules are in place to make sure that if someone does abuse, they are heavily punished for their actions.

B) Make a requisition system where factions have to "pay" for their gear in the form of a faction budget which commerce can manage along with its own stock system.

Fair point.
The suggestion remains more than valid though. I don't see the problem with giving some trusted CWU members vendor access and heavily punish them if they abuse it.

I still believe the usage of actual scripts to be the superior option, regardless of whether or not people try to steal.

Giving every single CWU worker pet flags seems fishy.

More of an unnecessary risk than fishy but alas.

Scripts don't really add to the immersion but if you really think you need actual scripts instead of doing well executed /me's /shrug

Every CWU worker? Yes maybe that'd be a bit too much. But seriously, most shifts are really empty and uneventful.

How would the presence of real scripts undermine the roleplay quality? I don't quite get you.

For PET. We have a vetting system. Any worker set to our internal "Medium Pay" Should probably be given PET flags. Those below that are still proving their capabilities.

As for script vendors - Unless it is management that can give them out I'd be extremely wary. We have had instances of equipment from our vendors being sold off in the Condemned zone. Imagine if scripts could be accessed by anyone.

In regards to this I wouldn't even trust a medium worker since there's no rules in place preventing rogue activities until they reach management.

You could make it so scripts taken from the vendor would be used exclusively for shifts and shifts only.

As for PET flags, they're free to request them when setting up a workshift, as many already do, though I can see why some workers with perma PET flags would be useful..

And for scripts in workshifts, I don't see an issue as to why staff can't also spawn in scripts for a shift if asked by a worker, maybe having a system where it has to be confirmed by a manager? I've asked CWU managers before if they want a vendor for tools and such and they say no as it may be abused. I've even asked if they want one specifically for managers only, and still they've said no. This could be remedied by staff occasionally having deliveries done with scripts in that are to be used for shifts, but that's another story.

As for the variety of shifts, that seems to be an issue with CWU and their creativity. They have "sub-shifts" which are ones that can be done outside the warehouse and can be, as stated in the CWU handbook; "anything that the shift-runner desires." so if shifts aren't engaging, that's not a script/PET flag issue, it's the shift runner's issue.

Moving to denied, CWU can request pet flags when they do workshifts. Generally speaking admin spawning in scripts is a bit 50/50 in workshifts, easily exploitable so in most cases it's best to spawn in the models instead.
