GOOD EVENING LADS WHO ARE READING THIS

Have you perhaps noticed, especially if you are a long standing player in your community, that the server seriousness and Roleplay standards are going down the bin?

Does your experience even less dystopian than what it used to be? I will list every issue with the majority of the Factions as I witnessed first hand:

Citizens:
This is a mixed pot, there's some people who roleplay accordingly but it's a minority in confront to what I have seen.

- There is absolutely no sense or recognition of the situation you are in (20+ years of constant slavery, labour and malnutrition) and people tend to act the way they would in real life, directly breaking the rules under the FailRP Section

"------------- A character's / behaviour and view of the world should match the scale and sense of the world they're living in, not real life."

Civil Protection:
I'm sorry to say this, as a Civpro main, I am afraid that this faction is the one that had the biggest decline in RP Standards, there are so many problems in my opinion and others:

- Metrocops feel like high school bullies, there is no real surgical protocol to follow to interact with Citizens or preserve conversations in public. I feel Starboat bait is part of this problem.

- The idea of a kind Metrocop (Which is overdone) should be rarely done and more punished by Command. No, I'm not saying that your cop should be a sadic that finds pleasure in hurting other people, but keep in mind you passed years of indocrination no matter what if your character chooses a path in the Civil Protection, they should be displayed more surgically rather than some 70s cop in Brooklyn.

ESPECIALLY the problem resides with some Rank Leaders, they recieve the same Memory replacement as Transhumans, the guide clearly states that they should be feared yet they act like some cool coaches for the units and fail to make you feel oppressed.

Resistance:
I've also played the Resistance, RP Hubs are enjoyable but the problem still lingers with inappropriate Roleplay for characters as they are:
- Self Proclaimed Warriors and fearless fighers
- Semi Serious Minges who only play to S2K (Fewer minority)

Before you say ha ha here's the fun police, no, there's ways of enjoying Roleplay by doing it accordingly, this is what Willard HL2RP should be, not a sitcom of silly jokes and corny actions to get on the Starboard.

I've seen firsthand what happens when servers do the "The Combine win!" thing, and it genuinely sucks. It isn't rewarding for either side. Why? Because we, as players, know that The Combine's victory would be the extinction of humanity as we know it. Every loyalist and cop would be rounded up and either turned into a Stalker, OTA or repurposed into something else entirely. The Resistance would be wiped out. The earth would be reduced to a husk.

The fact in character there is an IC belief of the Combine actually wanting to truly "uplift" humanity means nothing, because its a lie. Its propaganda. Its untrue.

So on a day-to-day basis? Yes, you absolutely need push and pull. But no, The Combine shouldn't get a chance to win the server at large, because its utterly unrewarding and leaves everyone feeling crappy. You don't play a Combine-aligned character to see your faction truly win, you do it to tell a story.

I feel like @Processed_Grain has some issues that they should work out before playing. Half their group/bulletin posts are crazy, like what a crazy person would post. And now you are being a crazy asshole who seems like you actually, personally think rebels are the bad guys. Take a break and play stardew valley or something, clearly this game makes you crazy.

To be fair if someone came up to me and said "Hello Mr. Calloway I have a bomb for you" in LOOC then tried to script-kill me with it knowing I'd get PK'd I'd be pissed too.

That goes beyond us vs them or the flaws of the PK system and straight into "that's just being an asshole" territory. Its insulting, honestly.

@ford-michigan Try not to post the cringiest, most disengenuous shit ever challenge (impossible)

Please go back to mass disagreeing with every forum post about loyalism because your perception of loyalism is some esoteric version of transhumanism.

"The Combine win!"
This is obviously not Willard's policy, as can be evidenced by the past few weeks.
The fact in character there is an IC belief of the Combine actually wanting to truly "uplift" humanity means nothing, because its a lie. Its propaganda. Its untrue.
I mean, you can call it stupid and retarded for people believing in the whole uplifting of humanity, but the species is beyond fucked at this point. We're 20+ years into occupation with a heavily entrenched propaganda machine, a human administration that speaks to the needs of the people in opposition to the rebels.

The rebels do themselves ZERO favours when they bomb the clinic or when they tried to cause an actual mass casualty event at the ration line just before the map change, or when they caused a Judgement Waiver 3 days in that locked people in their homes. (Awaiting the curbalas response of "That's our job!!!" while your group has a shit ton of weapons all unrealistically ported over from C24, based). It's your job to win over the people, and all you've done is turn them against you. The Combine secretly rejoice when you do these things btw, as rather than fabricating or lying about a rebel attack, they can actually report the truth and the visual consequences are laid bare for all to see.

So no, I don't blame people for siding with the Combine when our current options are insane, loosely operated terrorist groups and a genocidal empire.

The alternative is the total annihilation of loyalist and civilian roleplay.

It still reads like casually admitting you legitimately engage with bad faith acts, or are willing to, just because of OOC drama. Like it's something you actively do just to spite the liberators who are only one group anyway.

I don't even think any of your attacks have been done by notable rebels. Just slummer trash. Which isn't even an issue of the policy in regards of PKs. If a dude is fucking around OOC I'm the middle of killing a character, it'd be an easy overturn in appeal.

Far as the argument of loyalty vs rebellion goes, both are legitimate options.
Combine are the bad guys, however. That's just how it is. Even if Willard focuses on making xen seem the bigger threat.

It still reads like casually admitting you legitimately engage with bad faith acts,
Nope, not me. Certain elements of the rebel faction, absoloutely. I've done nothing toward these people largely due to the absence of Administration in Civil Protection or Overwatch affairs. Like Processed said, we have no say in what they do strategically. In my opinion, Combine players have been good faith for the most part, and when they've slipped up or done something wrong, they put their hands up and admit it.

I'm not one for defending Civil Protection as they have problems, but it's insane to sit here and try to equivocate the two sides. I've been actively pushing for a much harsher stance OOCly toward the rebels as of late, which includes advocating for PKs over good faith NLRs and amputations over rehabilitations in line with the rules when a PK might've been an option. We get absoloutely nowhere if we perpetuate this endless CvR slop, and we don't let the city BREATHE for 5 fucking seconds. The rebels are in a very good position right now, and the only way to knock them down a peg meaningfully is by targeting their people and killing them.
push and pull
Push and pull, no? Rebels have been doing all the pushing, expect the other side to pull at some point.

Edit: We've gone way off-topic in this thread. A separate one can be made for this issue if anyone wishes.

everything my character says or does ICly is a representation of my views OOCly .

That was me minging and at this point I'm not surprised *that* was what you call 'peak'.
Never called it peak, you were just more approachable and less of an asshole, oh welp...
It’s the fact that some guy typed in LOOC: “I have a bomb for you.”
You literally walked off when he did the /me of throwing the bomb at you btw. And a staff had to go fetch you.

Literally wrong, I walked off before he did it. Go ask the staff member who PMed me, Rad-X.

Try and not slander me. Stellar example of the good faith from your side, thank you.

P.S

You engaged with nothing I said apart from trying to slander me, so I'll assume you've checked out this discussion and no longer give a shit.

Thanks.

I stopped giving a shit the moment processed Grain began acting like a child and throwing insults, this complaint thread is a mess and the reason why they never work.

Yet you still bothered to engage with it and just stir shit. If you were acting in good faith you'd check out if you have nothing productive to say.

Event Team btw.

That's my point. OOC, they shouldn't win on a server-wide scale. Every day they exist, that's a "win". I'm splitting hairs but you see what I'm getting at, I'm sure.

The Resistance are a lot more fragile than any Combine faction simply due to how they work, and that needs to be taken into account. An excessive raid (see the complaint last week) can cause major damage that struggles to be recovered from.

Does it make IC sense? Sure, sometimes. But it goes beyond that.

I mean, you can call it stupid and retarded for people believing in the whole uplifting of humanity, but the species is beyond fucked at this point. I think it makes perfect IC sense. But I don't think it should dictate whether or not The Combine get to "win" the server - they shouldn't, outright. Its not rewarding for anyone. You join a Combine faction, OOC, knowing you are not on the right side of the setting IC.

The Combine can and should win on a small scale day-to-day now and again, obviously. Maybe even in events to keep things interesting. But never more than that.
