Three new videos detailing clear, uninterrupted gameplay are released. It details weapon modding, movement, combat against headcrab zombies, headcrabs, and OTA, as well as multiple other features. Puzzle elements also seem to have a large presence here which play off the mechanics and capabilities of VR.

For me, this wasn't what was expected despite the contrary leaks that's been happening for a long time. Quite frankly, a take on Alyx's point of view is... actually I'm going to be straight up: For fuck sake, Valve.

Kept us waiting this long to give us Half Life 2: Alyx ERP Edition lol

Barney would have been more interesting given his infiltration of Civil Protection for quite a while, but that's just me. I'll be waiting on the stealth game they're working on called "Citadel". But I guess it's too early for me to really say for the moment so kudos on them actually doing something in the space of a decade.

I personally am skeptical but cautiously optimistic. I've waited a long, long time for a new Half Life game. I did kind of expect something like this to show up, but with the current state of Valve, I worry for how it will turn out. Valve, back when they made video games as their main function, used to be innovators of genres and pushed very high quality products. Now? Well, that isn't 100% true anymore. They've made lots of questionable decisions as of late, and Artifact blew a huge hole in Valve's reputation.

But knowing that this is a flagship VR title, I hope Valve does what it did best and innovates. Hopefully Gabe Newell has awoken from his money-induced lardass dementia and has taken an active role in this. Valve has to go big here because if this is their "flagship" title, and also a Half Life game, it has to be big.

Hopes? I really just want a good Half Life game.
Dreams? That it revolutionizes VR in ways we haven't seen and ends up being on the same level as the original Half Life games.
Nightmares? It turns out the same as all most VR games and ends up being a painfully average or mediocre game, practically ruining Valve's image.
Expectations? Can't say yet honestly. Not enough info on it yet.

Hopefully its received well enough to push Valve into making the big three.

I don't care in the slightest about VR or related products. I wasn't planning on getting VR shit before and this doesn't change that. The only real concern I have for this project is how it will impact server lore.

Otherwise I say wait until Thursday before getting hyped or excited.

12 years and we get a VR game that doesn't continue the cliffhanger....

I've known about this for months if not since last year from VNN. I am simply interested what they did, both with VR and Alyx's story. Bad, good, average or mediocre, doesn't matter, Youtube can save money.
VR is something that needs failures/successes to progress forward. HL:A is a prime candidate for that, and the world will be holding it's breath when it releases, just to see the results. Because the funny part is that no one knows for sure what the outcome will be.

/me stockpiles popcorn and coke.

In my opinion, it sucks that it's VR exclusive, sure. But in the long run, we should all be giving this a chance, don't get too hyped over it, sure, but also don't have too many low expectations be it because it's VR or because its primary character is Alyx etc. Sure, they could've chosen more interesting characters, but even then Alyx herself is sort of a mystery pre-hl2, aside from knowing she was a baby who was kidnapped by the Gman during the events of hl1. If Valve makes the mechanics like boneworks it would fit very well with the type of character we're playing, and in all honesty I don't expect this to flop or be a bad game at all personally. That's a really risky thing to say, I know, and just wait until it turns out this game is a disaster and I'll look like an idiot lol but seriously I do see potential here, and heck MORE LORE AT LEAST WOW (and a modern take on the combine, POSSIBLY black mesa if we get a flashback sequence or something AND City 17+ more locations), this game will either be really good, or meh, and we'll have to make our first judgement this thursday it seems. Les get it

I am just waiting until someone makes a half life alyx RP server, where I can have ERP with male02 and default asian girl in vr.

I've watched the trailer over 10 times at this point and I get goosebumps every time.
