DEVBLOG #11
Todays devblog focuses its attention on literacy related improvements, terminals/computers and a few useful misc additions!
Thanks again to the wonderful development team for their magnificent work!

1. Newspaper printing

If you’ve ever wanted to start a news group then now’s your chance! You’ll be able to purchase a printer from player run shops -Note that you’ll also need a business license from Civil Administration for the printer to work. The printer requires paper and ink for printing, you can buy those from a player run store as well. You’ll be able to choose text and a picture, when done it’ll appear in a box wherever you’re looking. Voila, you’re now a newspaper agency!
  • Print customizable newspapers
  • Preview mode to look at the final product before printing
  • Ability to add a picture
  • Requires paper and ink and a business license

2. Book Overhaul

You may buy blank books from player run shops, allowing you to write your own customizable books to publish as you wish. You’ll be able to choose between various handwriting fonts and book covers. Be careful though, the combine might not be too pleased with what you publish!
  • Write customizable books
  • Various fonts to pick from
  • Pick different books covers

3. Civilian Computers v2.0

You’ll be able to buy civilian computers from player run shops, granting you access to an alternative way of making private notes. You can share these notes with others by granting them access with their CID card. You may also acquire a medical computer granting you access to private medical files, but you may only acquire such a computer from Civil Administration.
  • Write private notes on the computer
  • Shareable with others via their CID card
  • Browse private medical records (acquired from Civil Administration)

4. Civilian Terminals

Located on the streets, these terminals offer quick overviews of your character data, credits and most interesting of all, allows you to contact Civil Administration directly if you’re a loyalist. They’ll also be able to respond directly to your message if they choose.
  • Quick overview of character information
  • Overview of credits
  • Two-way communication with Civil Administration if you’re a loyalist

5. Price Controls
Streamable outdated, see picture below for all options)

Civil Administration now has access to adjust in-game prices of shop items. This grants Civil Administration a whole new dimension of domestic economic purpose to keep inflation levels stable and the economy afloat. They also have access to stock options, deciding how much you’re able to buy with the bartering skill.

  • Price controls per item category
  • Stock options

6. Misc Updates

6.1 Clothing item models

All of our clothing items now have models to help distinguish them from each other in your inventory, no more generic boxes to pick from!

6.2 Item tab pictures
The item tab now uses pictures for all of its items, rather than just text, greatly improving user friendliness for admin use.

6.3 Item data update

As noted from our last devblog, we were working a lot on data (adding lots of items and recipes), and you can see in the clip above what the result looks like. There’s now lots of recipes and items to pick from.

6.4 Auto-walk
We now offer the ability to auto-walk by pressing the button “N”. Your character will stop auto-walking whenever you start moving in any other direction. Useful if you’re walking and RPing at the same time.

6.5 Vortigaunt language
Vortigaunt players can use /vort to use their own language. Non-vorts won't be able to understand what you’re saying.

6.6 /id command
You no longer need to frustratingly memorize your CID, simply type /id and it’ll output your name and CID in the chat for you.

6.7 Punching no longer deals damage
We’ve added a config to disable punching damage. Instead of dealing damage, punching now pushes players instead. Prevents new players from abusing punching, preferring it being roleplayed instead.

6.8 /plyblind
Implemented a /plyblind command making a players screen go black, still allowing them to type and see the chat of course. Can be useful for certain events.

6.9 Pickup terminals (in case you missed it from last devblog)
This was displayed in the last devblog but was updated later on, so in case you missed it: Whenever you purchase items with the bartering skill, you'll need to visit a Pickup Terminal to obtain your items.
