Mandatory Curfews.

Now, I don't really know how often it would be, perhaps we could do it like twice a week, or maybe even once a week, but I think it'd be cool to implement them.
We'd force everyone into apartment areas, allowing for more close-ranged server population, and force people to meet others, perhaps strengthening groups and such.
We could have Civil Protection, or perhaps even OTA patrolling the streets, guns out.
We can use this time to search apartments, repair combine tech, set up checkpoints etc.
I believe this is a good way to bring in a better sense of dystopia.

What do you think?

I think having them mandatory is redundant. I don't see what purpose it would serve besides attempting to force a "dystopian" feeling onto the server and the city's populace by creating an even less interesting environment that will plunge in appeal after the first two or three times.

This would allow both the shaming of none apartment owners and be the only time apartment owners might find out they have a roommate, so yes; just don't keep them in their to long or they will dc to play something else since the WN audience has a considerably low attention span.

This also gives leeway to apartment RP, trying to make sure every government wiretap is muffled or sound proofing a quiet room in your apartment; I really miss the telescreens in v3's apartments, where you could view broadcasts from a futuristic looking screen built into the wall that only plays when the government wants it to gave me a very Orwellian vibe. There's also the obvious, creating new jobs for RP such as room service, renovator, etc. Or making new RP like a rat infestation outbreaking on one of the decks; just brings to light a lot of the more minor aspects of RP that really flesh out the world and make it feel lived in and real.

It sounds good but Residential Block can be the most interesting place or the most boring depending on the players. And sadly, players will always play the waiting game, creating the most boring environment ever as Blitz's mentioned.

twice a day, or maybe even once a day

I would wager like...once a week or something if we do this. This way it doesn't get old, doesn't interrupt ongoing RP often, and can act as more of an scheduled event rather than a constant headache. CP's can choose random non-loyalist housing block for searching? Gives loyalist blocks and actually purpose above standard housing.

It will get very old being shoved into a apartment ever three hours.

That was the goal originally a few months back. Weekly curfews/inspections but RLs have grown lazy currently.

How do you expect all of these jobs to suddenly emerge from having mandatory curfews? If anything I think it will create less jobs and fewer players.

It will still get old this way, in my opinion. Don't take my negativity to this idea as a personal agenda that I'm trying to spearhead. I kind of support it personally, ironically. But I'm pretty sure it will negatively impact the server.

If it happens on a schedule, people will avoid that day/timespan. If it's random, people will be more annoyed and stand at a higher chance to quit altogether.

As for "apartment rp", it's a huge shame there's none of it - but curfews won't change that. It will only be a forced, bad feeling rp that you won't enjoy - only being in agony and misery with company as you circlejerk until the curfew is over.

Loyalist apartments already has a purpose in contrast to regular housing. It's first and foremost a huge status symbol. But besides that, you'll have subjectively more pleasant roomates and there's less tenants per apartment. It's arguably also nicer and often they don't have the same scrutiny already as the regular housing does.
To my knowledge they were also spared from the... contribution... of furniture to the other city - plus they aren't monitored much.

If the idea was expanded there would be chance for the CWU to get more opportunities to do service jobs such as moving recently assembled furniture from the warehouse into the apartment which ordered the package. But I can imagine it will get very boring if you don't have anyone to talk to and you're all by yourself; If the housing system wasn't lottery based and officers could assign citizens to homes I think the idea would be more plausible, but its likely going to devolve into a more boring reality like you say.

This would give apartments a reason to exist, and add a lot of RP.

Please don't. There's already no point in apartment searches since they just make Citizens stand in a corner for 20 minutes without anything to do.

On the topic of passive RP - if people don't socialize on the street, they probably won't socialize in their apartments. Plus, it'd be a pain to go around and collect every single person who logged on just to coup them up, not even mentioning those that get back on in Indigent or Sewers and walk out without even knowing there is a curfew on.

Honestly, it just sounds like something that would only happen once or twice, and then be collectively abandoned because people, understandably, don't like being barred from walking around an already small map.

Let’s lock players in apartments and force them to afk staring at a wall for 40 minutes, then shout at them for speaking (this is great for rp)

Better yet lets lock multiple players in an apartment! and make them speak! the horror!

that isn't how it works as of current, all of the curfews that have happened that I've been apart of have been incredibly boring and restrict rp.

One that comes to mind was when the food crisis was happening, we were locked in apartments for two whole ass hours

If it comes to it I'd rather have citizens be forced inside the RDT building and be allowed to roam freely in there, apartments as they work right now will continue to be useless even if you cram people in them for 10 minutes every day.

Fuck it, anti-curfew. Force everyone outside into the streets for mandatory yoga sessions (very good for RP)
