If the idea was expanded there would be chance for the CWU to get more opportunities to do service jobs such as moving recently assembled furniture from the warehouse into the apartment which ordered the package. But I can imagine it will get very boring if you don't have anyone to talk to and you're all by yourself; If the housing system wasn't lottery based and officers could assign citizens to homes I think the idea would be more plausible, but its likely going to devolve into a more boring reality like you say.
Actually the adminges don't let us sell furniture packages to apartments anymore due to edict limitations

People would be herded into their housing blocks, do maybe 3-4 minutes of RP then just go AFK until the curfew is over. I know I would, because it just isn't fun.

As @Lost Coast Chanties said it would probably be done for a few days then people would get bored of it and it wouldn't happen again.

that isn't how it works as of current, all of the curfews that have happened that I've been apart of have been incredibly boring and restrict rp.

One that comes to mind was when the food crisis was happening, we were locked in apartments for two whole ass hours
fr??? that gay bro put people inside

I think the first issue is everyone almost unanimously saying that the apartments are useless.
What purpose do you want the apartments to serve? It's your apartment - nothing more, nothing less.

If you want RP to happen within them, you need to be the instigator. You can't wait around for someone else to invite you - be proactive, invite them into your home. Sleep in your apartment. Write a letter, take a shower.
Do something in it, if you want it to have a purpose. We're the only ones that can give it one.

Oh boy I can't wait to be stuck in an unpropped apartment with 30 other people!

Apartments would be different if they were atleast fucking propped like they used to be. Maybe cut down on the 9000 CP Outposts around the city and the dead rebel bases in the city if edicts are an issue, I know for a fact half of the apartments in slums aren't used and the Checkpoint in the sewers by that forcefield is unnecessary when theres 4 other checkpoints in the city not counting slums checkpoint

I brought this up in another thread about changing the oppression level of City 24.
Personally, I think it'd be kinda cool. Its more in line with how the combine operates, atleast in the base game. It wouldn't have to be every single day, but like someone said, it could be for CP/OTA sweeps, maybe apartment 'inspections', check for miscounts, et cetera.
It could also make for some fun anti-civil/rebel RP. Perhaps a few anti-citizens have to get back to the slums, but have to dodge patrols cause a curfew is active, or risk being locked down in an apartment with the fear of a raid coming.

That being said it doesn't have to be the same time every night. It could happen at anytime, and thus another fact of life you have to live in fear of (unless you got nothing to hide :D )

This is some 2012 clockwork gameplay. It wasn't fun, isn't fun, and won't ever be fun for anyone involved. Bad idea.

How does forcing citizens to stare at a wall for 50 hours improve it?
You're not forcing them to stare at a wall for fifty hours if you'd bring a handful of people into one apartment. Because... that is how you do a proper roleplay friendly curfew after all. Here's a prime example on how it'll work.

I think you're overestimating the average player's attention span and willingness to collaborate

All for a mandatory curfew ― on a more applicable map where it fits into the theme of the city atmosphere and vibe. I like the idea of curfews, I just think that any attempt to implement it on City 24 will be ill-done, as the map isn't large enough to necessitate the need for curfews, as nearly everyone who'd be applicable to fall into that curfew (i.e. non-slummers) are already within walking distance from one another to initiate a conversation and roleplay.

If we were to transition to a previous iteration of City 24 like v2, sure. Much more viable map option. That map is large enough to house and support APCs, and anyone caught roaming the streets during curfew and not in their designated meet-up could risk being shot and severely punished. Plenty of room to maneuver around Civil Protection teams during curfew on that map as well.

Doesn't have to be longer then 15-20 minutes, they can interact with eachother. Perhaps we can even go so far to do a gameshow or a broadcast during the curfew, gives them something to watch and observe.

i'm gonna steal the thunder and use this post to say clear off edicts from the thousand million unused containers and bases that aren't really lived in anymore (be it in the slums, or the entirety of the CCA/BRI area) and use the new edict space to reprop the apartments or at least allow them (the civvies) to.

Part of the reason city RP is dead is because Little Mengele's office in the BRI has 162 props and 332 decals in it but there's a total of 3 props in all of the apartments right now.

If you want to even hold a conversation about curfews how about we start by letting people get a little bit more attached to apartment interiors so they don't just stare at a dry wall that isn't even theirs for the duration of them

Ok, I'll do this.
Apartments will be pre-propped, standardized. They'll get a TV, a radio and some other fun stuff.

I recommend allowing players the use of advanced duplicator and being able to put down things temporarily. Garry's Mod thrives off the ability to change entire rooms to fit scenes when applicable. But in Willard it seems very oppressive to actually put down things you wish for the room/place to express and embody.

A house, an apartment, a store, etc, is a 'home'. And that place is an expression of that person. I remember in TnB there being a ton of different rooms built. Some communal, others solitary. And they were all really, really good.

15-20 minutes is a long time to be doing something you'd rather not. And I think the keyword is *can*. They *can* interact with eachother, sure - but that doesn't mean that they will. Especially not since their adjacency to oneanother has been forced and randomised. I doubt the majority will enjoy or stand to benefit from it. Sure, some will, but those are most likely the type of people that would've found ways to engage and converse in RP regardless of the curfew.

As for gameshows and broadcasts, that's a fine idea. I like those, there should generally be more of them and more opportunties, both in conviniency and possibilities, to listen / watch them.
But during them while a curfew is active? It feels more like patchwork than actually engaging content. A bandaid for the pain you've knowingly made them endure - instead of making appealing content that they long for on their own terms.

YEAH KAFFEE! TERRIBLE IDEA! HOW DARE YOU THINK ID DO SOME PASSIVE RP FOR 10 MINUTES?? ID RATHER BE RUNNING AROUND AND SEARCHING TRASH!!

It's not a terrible idea. From my PoV: People will always do what they enjoy. Even if they enjoy passive roleplay they enjoy it at their own time, place, and circumstances. From my experience throwing a bunch of people into curfew due to whatever reason (miscount/event/waiver) tends to make the majority of them wander around. Those who would roleplay within it, usually already roleplays there regardless; with their decorated apartment; and people whom they interact with beforehand.
