DOB Suggestion Megathread

Some of you may have seen me on Discord ranting about this issue previously over the past year or so. The idea was shared there as well and from the feedback I've received I'm anxious about how this will be received here, but my suggestion would be RP'ing the creation of basic construction and manufacturing materials; anything from metalworks to bricks, chemicals and basic consumer grade equipment, and let companies instead of CWU to manage them. Placing CWU on more of a Worker Administration position than a state-mandated producer would give the economical initiative to the players.

My only concern is about the applicability of all of these on a large scale, even then this as a small thing incorporated into DoB like a small experiment with free-market economy instead of a radical, instant and large scale transformation of the entire Willard economy would be fun.

I would like to talk about the cons first. previously discussed over Discord, this has two fundamental problems:
1) Not many of us, in fact only a very minority or players, are informed about how anything at all is produced in say a steel mill, a factory, a plant etc.
2) Requires a lot of micromanagement, like 2nd life level of micromanagement. Inherently, tying something as basic as unfinished products to RP means any production involving (basically) anything means RP will be far more extensive (although I would consider this a good thing, depends on how you see this). For example: Let's say that a demolished building is to be repaired by a CWU construction crew. Now that they have to supply any material used during the procedure on top of the RP that they have to do for the construction.

Now, you may see where this is going. I would like to address the first issue first. While the RP could be a lot better with people who actually know what they RP, nobody is born a blue-collar worker, the experience is learned. You may start your career as an apprentice and learn the basics of the job from people who are eager to provide information from what they know in real life. Not only now the characters can realistically RP a profession and so can players. If you happen to need creating a new character, you can RP as someone who had experience pre-war and even teach other apprentices. These people would not only be valuable assets for the DoB, it would take much of the work from the CWU.
Secondly, the production is now even more tied on how the system functions. If factories are left empty and CWU is desperate to get any material they can get their hands on, this would explain brutal measures like forcing workers to work in brutal shifts and longer hours, giving a justification for the resistance while also justifying trying to become a Loyalist.

Now I would like to talk about the pros of this whole ordeal:
1) This would finally fill in the empty explanation of how basic materials are acquired. Switzerland was not much of a manufacturer of basic supplies before the war; with the last iron mine shut down even before Resonance Cascade and a very small number of steel mills mostly importing from Germany, opening businesses like these would not only explain the prosperity (or in case of economic failure, destitute) of the city.
2) This would create a megaton of RP opportunities as previously explained. If this is implemented nicely, this would create many positive-feedback loops: A steel mill produces enough materials for the CWU to create a better transportation system, say CWU starts expanding the C24 razor train lines and starts making out-of-map infrastructure projects, allowing even more materials, tools and people to come in from other sectors, further reinforcing economic initiatives and projects.
3) Rebel RP would benefit from this very greatly, targeting factories and production facilities, or the workers in them would be far more brutal and effective on the city's functionality. Even better; stealing equipment like these from hit-n-runs would give the same economic RP allowances for those in the underground or even outlands. A group of rebels carrying tools and machinery to create a small scale atelier in an outpost for producing equipment by using refugee workers or even captives would be a very interesting and fun RP scenario.
