Minimum two paragraph backstory on the concept:
In the Barren Landscape lies a city.. A city that was reformed by remnants of the Serbian army in 2015..
Ratari, in the land of Serbia!
Or what remained of it that is, remnants of the Serbian Government and army reside here. In its formation of 2015, its population was 1.284 with a armed force of 130. It was not all that well equipped, most of its weapons being from the world war 2 era or hand made. Only having 2 Rocket Launchers with little ammo, and the threat of the combine looming ever so real.. Other then that, the populous was happy. And free.
Vortikind or general xenian beings were either killed or imprisoned as leader Miomir Stanković deemed them invaders, and must pay for their crimes against humanity, mainly letting in those who were chained or nulled. In 2016 a riot of those who were supportive of the Vortikind occurred. This was met harshly, with 32 being killed and 187 injured from police and military forces alike. This, obviously, caused unrest as mass protests occurred of those of French, and Jewish heritage due to majority of the casualties being of those ethnicities, causing the so called by the people 'Ironic War'.
Economic downturn occurred as the City had no real way to gain resources.. How did they do this?.. Well simple. They raided near by settlements, either stealing them, or conquering them. Expanding their territory to this.
New Territory Old Territory Serbian Outposts. Remnants of 'Miomirov velik iradnički logor' camp.
This gained them a.. Awful reputation among the other groups in the area. However, their population increased from 1000 to 2300 in the area, however this lead to unhappiness in the nation.. But resources.
2018. The year Miomir watched as his dreams of bringing back Serbia get destroyed.. After a report of a Synthetic attack on their outpost in the south near his work camp. In response to this, he evacuated it and began a mass conscription program to defend the city from a now real threat of attack from the combine occurring on their city.. Ratari was now about to be invaded..
What did not help was in the south the Vortigaunts were begining to rise up and rebel from their prison districts due to poor freedom and quality.. And those who were unchained, and not nulled began to free their brothers to not only fight the corrupted Serbian government, but also to escape the Combines now true threat..
And only a few months after, a force of OSF forces and Overwatch and Synthetics were known to be outside the city..
