Boy am I sure this will be a civilized thread which will not involve name-calling between Combine and Rebels!

I'm neither a combine or a rebel

I'M A LOYALIST

You ruined a very important Security Council with this event.

Apparently it was shit.

You exchanged PEAK for BLEAK.

You stifled political and loyalist RP for CVR slop.

Failed to tell me it was the same time as Security Council until the day of the meeting. (You had 3 weeks)

Event still sucked ass:

P.S You told me it'd last 3 hours. It ended about twenty minutes into what the Security Council would've been in.

I couldn't see much, but even then, I WAS ASS! I PLAYED LIKE ASS!

Okay, now here comes an important opinion than the guy above
(btw, he wants to command soldier and was never in his char's lifetime in battle)

I'm the Commander of the Combine Forces, as I effectively lead the defensive against the aggressor (webels).
And my prepared defence was better than expected, the barbed wire prevented the rebels to jump over the barricade, which successfully created the chokepoint over the checkpoint. We held tight, we stood our ground and let the rebels bled for every meter they gained. My counterpart (PATROL-631) did well, until a Sniper blew his head away, and so did the conscripts. They tried to use some tactical advantage and obeyed commands.

Meanwhile OTA did really just press W + M1, and OTAs took casualties here and there. It was terrible, considering they were our main source of supplies as me and the other cop didnt had enough supplies and the conscripts lacked the same.

There was no briefing, we were thrown in the meat grinder with almost to nothing. And many people just didn't showed up, which just made it a 9 vs 22. No supplies, no reinforcements and odds against us. And to my abilties, I managed to inspire the troops just long enough to commit to their last stand and the rebels never breached the top floor. This was some heroic last stand shit, and It is just sad how a bomb just blows an entire building up just to end the conflict right there despite like two of us being still alive and dedicated to defend the supply line.

Event-wise? 5/10
Character development? 9/10

Honestly I wish these Sector Wars events had more setpieces and actual time to RP in them, right now it's just messy and buggy CVR - maybe I'm just in the minority though and the Willard playerbase likes S2K more idk

But yeah no offense but I think this might've been the worst one so far, just kinda poorly communicated and the whole OTA respawn thing just came out of nowhere (if you ask me it shouldve been CPs and Conscripts who get respawns, not the OTA - thats like if only vortigaunts got a respawn)
Also quite a few people apparently couldn't see the OTA at all so that sucks, also sucks that a lot of the combine players didn't show up, not sure if that was a result of the many PKs the CPs have suffered recently or not though

So yeah, some RP downtime or in general less S2K focused Sector Wars events would be really nice - I know the whole idea behind them is more so to let people S2K their hearts out but I think a lot of other players would enjoy it too

Honestly. I don't think it was that bad. I don't know if it's because I did well during the event.

The basis of this event specifically made it hard to have any sort of RP as if you stopped you'd be shot somewhere, even though I was performing radio commands throughout (as a lowly scum unit).

I feel like what happened after between specific people shouldn't have happened, was childish and unnecessary.

Invisisynth was odd I'll be honest. Obviously I couldn't tell as I'm on OTA vision. Regardless, I don't think event managers for this event should take some of the overly harsh spat that people are saying to heart. The premise worked, the player count didn't.

Though I do think we shouldn't be planning events that'll take away a large portion of the playerbase around weekly meetings that happen on main. A bit shitty I know but there's gotta be a way to plan around it all!

Visbility was a big problem, I could barely see anything even with flashlights on once inside a building. I would like to note this is a common occurance in Coco's events aswell, please be a bit more subtle on the lightening and fog usage.

The most bizarre thing was there was an invisible OTA soldier running around.. I don't know who this was and I don't care but this shouldn't have been allowed and should not happen again. It really breaks the balance significantly. This wasn't some watery material btw, it was a fully invisible player.

I can't blame the balancing and OTA respawns on this one, as the combine side was missing half of its players. Shame on those who applied but didn't participate. SHAME ON YOU!

Like Ricsow stated, this event was too S2K focused, probably for a good reason but compared to the last Sector War, where we had some downtime, RPing with the enemy that was interesting. We had none here. I couldn't even type into chat most of the time, trying to communicate with the team, because I'd be shot from somewhere unknown.

Other than that, this was challenging. It was fun and chaotic. At our most crucial point, all I could have think of was complete the objective, get the guys out and get back to safety.

-> applied as rebel
-> swapped to CCR/CSF (turncloak?)
-> swapped back to rebel

--> unable to join the server due to password issues
-----> finally gets on only to get stuck in the loading screen for 30 mins.

I was still stuck in the loading screen when the event had ended.

Wish I could have seen what it was all about..

Whatever the case, it will be better next time! KEEP FIGHTING COCO

>Hop on, all hyped.
>Join outlands server, still hyped
>Wait
>Battle begins
>Die in under 3 minutes
>Call the event bullshit and ruin your day

(In all seriousness, I wouldnt say it was that bad, but then again, I didnt see much.)

10/10 or something

Honestly, i got pretty heated during the event itself, overall was interesting, and mostly fun. I do think the combine players could have been given a chance with something other than the invisible synth. Overall, 7/10. Good job overall, but I do agree that future events need at least a little more rp and less shooty bang bang.

Also, for the side attacking allow pre combat scouting, it makes sense for the resistance and combine not to go in blind every fight.

I was a le spectator (uber rare asimo appearance) and I missed the start but still got to see most of the combat.

Considering this was practically an s2k CvR event, the way the map ended up being laid out was kinda... Ass?
By all accounts how the map functioned it was just a single lane, meaning all the fighting was basically done in the exact same area from like an hour. A couple people tried flanking and going around doing sneaky stuff, but there was basically nothing propped outside of the emmidiate area, making people basically walk into the big open map where they instantly became directionless.

A big concept on maps for shooters is a "Three lane" system with connections between them. Think le Dust2. It just works, it adds variety, people are less clumped up. I think this event could have had benefit from alternative routes, instead of just a double chokepoint.

Perhaps an alternative is to make a pathway through the map in a single line. Think tower defense layout. And have the attack side try to push from "location to location" along that pathway, with increasing levels of resistance from the defender. This gives the attacker at least the feeling of progressing, and allows for respawns on the defender's side that feels a bit more natural (New location = new defenders)

Normally we don't have to care much about the exact layout of the map, since we're here to tell stories and RP. Except this whole sector wars concept seems to be CvR S2K. Basically turning it into a shooter. This means you need to activate your valve brain and think about map layour/map mechanics as that's going to be a big part of the experience.

A shooter with bad maps is going to flop.

EDIT: I just noticed the amount of shit grammar and typos but tbh idc I just wanted to quickly write something and here's the edit to confirm that yes, this is written like ass.

Bit too dark. And I couldn't find and kill Nullwick (probably because it was too dark).

Most of the issues faced were self-caused. I was late because my computer was pooping itself. There were several times where I charged at an abandoned building, thinking I was assaulting a rebel stronghold. Then I found myself somehow, BEHIND rebel lines. I was completely disorientated. Idk if anyone else had this problem... I just didn't really know what I was doing, but likely that comes from a complete lack of experience with combatRP rather than any managerial issue with the event itself.

I hope my tardiness (and... re-tardiness) doesn't botch my chances to join future sector wars, because I had fun.

First off, for those of you calling for more time to RP, I want to let you know...

HAD YOU JOINED THE SERVER AT 45 MINS EARLIER LIKE EVERYONE WAS SUPPOSED TO YOU WOULD HAVE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO RP!

All the rebel players were punctual and on time, how come the Combine side took ages to get on hm? Not only is this rude towards the host of the event, but also to all the other players who were on time. The reason it instantly got thrusted into s2k was because rebels had been waiting for over an hour at that point.

and speaking of rudeness, I want to say there needs to be a punishment in place for people who sign up to events and don't show up.

I'd personally give the map a 4/10 as it didnt provide any ways to attack from a different direction, like being able to flank from behind. The propping was okay, I would've liked to see it extended beyond just the combine compound.

Balancing wise, let me start off by saying, yes I realize that the Combine were very outnumbered, but those pulse weapons eat through health with like 3-4 shots. Having OTA respawn seemingly endlessly was simply unfair. I would've enjoyed it more had there been more conscripts, but alas they were a no show.

The vort synth was rather fair for balancing in my opinion (@Mango sorry for the advanced beam to the face :) ) what wasnt fair though, was the  invisible synth with a weapon that one shots EVERYTHING. I mean, what were you guys thinking allowing that?

All in all, it was a very frustrating experience, and has pretty much made me rethink some ic relationships...

I think I was the only guy who arrived that late

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've got a few action points:

- Next CvR event I run, I will demand a Combine Co host. I was too focused on advertising this to rebels that maybe I haven't caught up with the Combiners. Honestly, I will not run another CvR without one.
- No invisible synth. That's on me. I saw the material and didn't say anything about it.
- Map was a mistake. Pacing was one big battle instead of multiple small ones/stages. @Asimo1234 I might talk to you more because you seem to have a clue on how to do this
- The fog - I honestly dunno what you're talking about @FieldersNL so I'll try the map out again VS NPCs to see.
- I'll try to see if there are any events happening at the same time to avoid them.

Thanks all for showing up regardless!

I'm not sure what he meant with fog either but he is right in saying most of the events you run have seriously dark maps for some reason, like really dark, and flashlights barely do anything

I dunno if that’s part of the map or something else
