SO HEAR ME OUT. Dont shit on me just yet. I know i can hear you typing up a storm. But hear me out, what if we had multiple work shifts going at once. Like, maybe a sort of automated shift going, Something for players to do like the laundry thing. Thats a good semi automated work shift. We get multiple of those going at once. My problem with the current work shift system is that its a toss up if you can make it to a work shift from across the map, sure its hilarious watching people run across the map when one is announced. But it's not fair to people who literally need to get up out of underclass. Or want to work for credits rather then wait 2 hours for their ration. Its really not worth it at all just sitting around having your food empty out because rations barely pay out anything at underclass. This is not fun, its boring, annoying. And generally demoralizing when you're rping, a work shift is announced and you cant even get in because half the server rushed there before you. I wanna see something done about this, i don't care if you have to maybe automate, a payment system or something but waiting 2 hours and starving completely, just because you wanna pay rent is not fun, at all.

...Honestly, an automated workshift reminds me of some silly darkrp type shit. If you want to hit a workshift on time, just don't spend all your time in indigent- try to get advance warning by observing the warehouse and perhaps asking a worker

TLDR:
get good, ic issue

No the problem is, i was sitting in the middle of rp, ya know having a conversation, right in the plaza on victory. Workshift is announced it IMMEDIATELY fills up, its not a matter of dark rp shit its a matter of having available slots for more then 8 people to work at a time. you have a server filled with 60-80 people at any time during peak hours, and a work shift only holds a maximum of 8. There is no thought or balance to that. It's basically. You loiter around the warehouse all day, or you hope to god you're one of the first 8 people there when its announced.

That's true. We might reconsider this, because we (CWU) haven't had this many people for a while.

I would honestly love to see at least 15 person work shift or even open up manual labor jobs for automated work or something. Ya know something that you work a shift, 2 hours or something, and it automatically clocks you out and pays you depending on your work. Like.. Again we have the things in place for this, with the laundry washing thing. I think it could be easily done to automate it.

Okay, but the "laundry washing thing" wouldn't really promote rp and it would be a bit game-y.

there's nothing wrong with automated workshifts if they're done right.

doing 3 paragraphs of RP stuffing rations in the same warehouse gets dull after about 3 minutes.

i'd much rather have something to interact with and see a number or counter go up as i interact with it. my RP can complement it.

Let’s be real, workshifts fucking suck. Nobody wants to do a workshift, they just want the SC and credits. Being able to have some automated workshifts like the obligatory laundry shift or something wouldn’t do much harm, and it’d help ease up the workload of CWU players trying to find out a shift idea

I agree with both, workshifts are ass right now, having an automated system of sorts would be great, it gives visual feedback to your progress, you can rp to your hearts content and work as much as you'd like, up for a limit of about 8 hours a day which would be a normal shift honestly. It'd be great, you can clock in for that long, or just have it clock you out at 1 hour intervals or even the idea i saw used in a semi serious server where you'd earn like 2-4 credits per completed item. And get it in your next ration. There's alot of things you can do with this. The shit is already in the server for it, the framework does exist and it is capable of doing this. So why not implement it?

The skilled coders in willard would have no issue sorting something like this out.

I have suggested that the CWU include more people in their workshifts. As you stated, there are 60+ players on the server and only 5 can join the workshift (matter of speech). We've got enough workers to oversee bigger workshifts, it's just a matter of getting creative with the workshifts. Two on one table is no problem, making it possible for more people to pack rations for instance.
