-BACKSTORY- Born and raised in Buffalo New York on March 2nd, 1992, Treyton would grow in what would be considered a happy family, despite living in a not so grand neighborhood. His father would take on the career as a Car Salesman in a beat down lot; although his charisma did manage to get consistent sales, it was barely enough to get by. Treyton's mother took the role of a stay at home mom, taking care of the duties around the house. And although money was tight and food not always on the table, Treyton's mother and father always did their best to make sure he was loved and cared for. He also had a sister a few years after he was born, to whom they regularly bickered towards one another in the later years. There hasn't been much excitement or change to behold Treyton, at least not until his world turned upside down. Both himself and his sister were at their school when strange sounds emitted from outside. At first everyone thought it was the weather acting up; the trees swaying as winds began to pick up. However their ignorance is what came to several others downfall. Out of nowhere, large creature burst through one of the windows; its screech piercing as loud as a pig when facing towards the petrified teacher. Before she met her demise, a single shaken word would be all that escapes her lips: "RUN!" Those closest to the doors, which included both Treyton and his sister were the lucky ones to escape the horror that was behind them. The screams of both adult and child alike emit all around, mixed with the adults that were still around, yelling to the children where to go. The pair along with many other students ran down the halls in the attempt to make it outside, however their advance was blocked off as other Xen creatures filled the halls. Through the panic, Treyton dragged his frightened sister to the Janitor's closet; compact and cramped with tools and of the like, they shut the door with haste as screams could be heard from outside. They both held one another trying to keep quiet, although all they could do was cry from fear. The pair would stay inside the closet for several hours, even after the screams and sounds from the creatures have came to a halt. Then a whaling siren sound could faintly be heard. Footsteps and sounds of people start to rise and get louder, remarks on what has transpired at the unlucky school. The door swings open as the two scream bloody murder from the door flying open, and bright light shining before their eyes. The light immediately dims as its lowered down, revealing to be a police officer, with a look of relief. Treyton and his sister quickly grasp the legs of the officer, shoving their face into his legs as they ball their eyes out, wanting only to be taken back to their mother and father. The officer would take the pair, and attempt to guide them away from the carnage that has left the halls. Later on, the pair would be reunited with their mother and father; all of which let our a symphony of sorrow. However this would only be but the beginning of a long four years of hell. [Year: 2005-2010] A year after the seven hour war and the occupancy of the Universal Union, Treyton and his sister were separated from their family to be taken to the educational facility known as ECHELON, outside the city of Belfast, Ireland. Along the way there, the two were separated from one another as to keep the males and females apart. This made Treyton to become rather rebellious against his captors, which only lead to one of the conscripts bashing their weapon against his skull, knocking him out until they got to the facility. He would later wake up to what he believed to be a hospital, seeing as they were in a gown, and their head being wrapped up from being bashed against. This thought quickly erodes as a large clunky machine moves down over his head and covers his eyes. Startled and scared, they fling whale and fling their body around in futility, as their legs and hands are bound to the hospital bed. "If you keep on moving, you're going to end up with the rest of those that won't comply. Now, STAY STILL!" A voice emits nearby. Starring quietly into the headpiece laid over him, a quick flash blinds him, including a series of images and sounds. After the machine finishes, the man walks over to Treyton, lifting the clunky headset and visor away from them, while in quick succession pulling over a fowl smelling bucket. The stench from the bucket mixed with the rapid flashing of lights and images causes Treyton to become nauseated, expelling what little contents they had in their stomach into the bucket, and somewhat on the bed. The man in charge of this puts the bucket to the side, and unhooks the child from the bed. Pulling out a small flashlight, they raise it over their eyes to check for any abnormalities. "How do you feel son? You feeling good all up here?" The man motions towards their head. Treyton gives a small nod before saying, "Y-yes.. I'm okay sir.. just feel very light headed.. I'm sorry for acting up earlier." Emotionless, the man grabs ahold of a clipboard and writes a few notes onto it. Looking back over towards the youngster before saying, "There's a fresh set of clothes to the side for you, as well as a nametag that you must wear at all times. After you're dressed, you and some others will be escorted to the mess hall. Understood?" Treyton gives an uncomfortable amount of silence, only to shakenly nod in their direction. The man grabs ahold of the curtesy curtain and closes it shut before Treyton, allowing them a chance to get clothed. After getting into their new uniform, they walk around the curtain to see several other children and teens varying in age, all of which are male. Another man opens up the door to the room they are residing in, wearing a clean white jacket and suit. They exclaim out, "I'd like for all of you to line up and follow me. Please do stay close and to not fall behind. I'm sure you're all famished." A chuckle leaves their voice as they pivot from the heel of their shined shoes. Giving them but a moment to scramble and get into line, the professional looking man leaves away from the door and down a hall, in the direction that would be the 'mess hall'. The room appears to be very blocky and wide, with the only form of texture being propaganda for the children and teens to look at. Being more closer to the front of the line, Treyton grabs ahold of a red tray from a large stack. They move over towards where all the others are lined up to; ten terminal machines constantly buzzing and humming, popping out bags from inside. Upon reaching the terminal, Treyton looks at the machine, bewildered as to what exactly it is. One of the staff walks up to him, leaning down to say, "Just flash your card up towards the distribution terminal, like so." The woman grabs Treyton's tag stretching it away from a cord connected to it and pulls it up to the terminal. It makes a firm beep, before making a series of buzzing sounds. The woman lets go of the tag and gives him a firm smile, before moving over to help out others that are having the same issue. The machine after what felt like an eternity pops open and pushes out a bag, which flops straight onto his tray. They move over towards one of the tables like the others, making sure they get a seat in the already heavily populated group of people. They flip the bag around a little bit, looking at its contents until they rip the top open. Pulling out its contents, they give a look of disappointment, believing that what they were going to get was something more nourishing looking. Before they can start eating the contents from their bag, a man similar to the one wearing the white suit gets in front of the room, raising their voice for all them to hear, "Afternoon children! I am Gregory Ladovich. You may refer to me by Mr. Ladovich, or sir! I'm sure you are all still getting used to the sudden change of things; being pulled from your families and loved ones. But have no fear, you will be returned to them once you have completed your education here at ECHELON! To quell several questions at once, I shall give you answers to what may be bouncing around those little noggins of yours. Firstly, you are to always be separated from the female populace, until you are in 'class'. That being said, any disruptions towards the other gender will cause immediate action. Secondly, after you are done eating and your trash has been put away, various signs will light up along the hall to point out where to go; for example after eating, you will be sent to your dormitories until the next day. After which, you will go to your assigned classrooms throughout the day, and repeat this until graduation. That is all that shall be given to you today, and no other questions are to be answered until the later days. Enjoy your stay, at ECHELON." Just as the man leaves the room, a 'robotic' female's voice chimes up, "Attention, citizens. You have, fifteen, more minutes to finish your meals." Finishing up their food within the timeframe given, Treyton puts away their trash, and lines up with a few others in preparation to leave. A friendly little tune plays out, and a series of signs and arrows start to point in the directions of where to go. Treyton and the others follow these arrows to what feels like a long series of mazes. However their long journey comes to an end with a pair of double doors open up to them. The room is lined with hundreds of beds, many stacks high and far. Each bed has a number assigned to it. Being quick to this, Treyton looks at their nametag, reading the numbers '6-7-9-3-2'. Luckily for him, he got one of the bunks just one above the floor, instead of being placed on the very top. He moves over towards his bed, which has a tiny compartment behind where his pillow resides. They take what they have on them, which is mostly only their CID, and place it inside the compartment. They lay down on this bed, starring up towards the bunk above them. They roll to their side however, pulling the blanket over them, and quietly cry themselves asleep. [Year: 2013-2016] Several years after graduating from the facility and receiving their secondary memory treatment from graduating, Treyton now resides at City Eight. It is here where he makes the jump from becoming a citizen of the populace, to a civil protection member of the Union. Before signing up, he managed to get into what was a flirty friendship, to someone that he would call their loved one; Caitlyn Foirbeiseach. Despite the education and treatments he went through, he managed to keep it a secret from the Union, as well as concealing the truth of what he did on a day to day basis. Although he wished to tell her what he was getting himself into, he knew it would be too much of a risk and could risk the life of both of them; the lie now given that he works at a desk job for the civil administration, which will make him busy for possibly days on end. She reluctantly 'believes' this lie, as Treyton starts his life as an officer. Having gone through different classes in this field, Treyton was quick to pick up the job in terms of radio cohesiveness, the whereabouts of each particular building in the district, and the protocols that which followed. One of the early trainings Treyton and some others received was the use of sweeping floors. They would train at an abandoned mall close to the district, seeing as it was fairly open with different areas to move cover to cover to; a great way to learn for the days ahead. One of the mistakes that Treyton follows consistently, is to always have someone watching their rear. He made this mistake after their instructor came up from behind him and the others and pelted them with rubber bullets, leaving pained welts all across their backs. Being in a district that was relatively calm, there hasn't been anything out of the ordinary as of late. For this, those higher in rank would conduct various teachings and different forms of combat, whether it was through weaponry, knife, or hand to hand training. Having not shot a weapon in his entire life, this helped the instructors mold Treyton into proper stances and forms when having to engage those in combat if the need was to arise. He and many others would go through this rigorous training day after day. Until one day was a bit different than normal. There was a request that popped up; "A citizen just shot someone and ran down the tunnel to the mall. Please help!" This was the day. The moment Treyton was going to show his worth! Attaching onto a patrol team which consisted only two other functionaries; an i5 UNION and an i1 DUTY officer, they rushed to the scene of the request. The woman that sent out the request is kneeling down to the man that was shot, trying to stabilize him. Seeing the pair of officers, she points down the tunnel and quickly says, "They went down that way. It was a short female, wearing a mask over their face!" The i1 gives a firm nod to the woman, <:: Move them off of the streets and into civil medical if you can. We'll take care of this mess. ::>, before running in the direction of the mall. Just as they get through the end of the tunnel, several shots are fired in the direction of the trio; each bullet missing, perhaps in an attempt to stall or keep the functionaries away. This doesn't deter them, as they rush towards the entrance of the mall. Finally, it's time to utilize all that training done and eliminate the anti-citizen, Treyton would think to themselves. They each rush inside of the building while providing covering fire for each other. The woman runs up the deactivated staircases in an attempt to evade the officers; her handgun firing back blindly at them. With careful timing, each functionary moves up and around the staircase slowly, firing their weapons in the direction of the anti-citizen. This pattern would repeat itself several times over until she reaches the top. The anti-citizen runs into a large open room and takes the only cover available in the given room. Each functionary advance towards the place getting ready to storm it. The i1 grabs ahold of a small canister from their hip, and motions them to look away. With the firm toss of the canister and its pin flinging off, it bounces inside of the room before loudly popping and flashing anyone that was gazing in its direction. The trio each rush into the room and fire in the direction of the anti-citizen. The woman manages to hit Treyton in the chest, but their bodypack was able to take the bullet, before he manages to fire several bullets in her direction. With the combined efforts of the three, the woman falls onto her back, dropping her gun and goes to clutch at her wounds; her mask falling off in the process. Upon getting full view of the woman, it was revealed that the woman was Treyton's love, Caitlyn. The i1 functionary calls into their radio, before looking over to Treyton, <:: Here it is big man. Your chance to get a notch under your belt; your first anti-citizen amputation. ::> they give a firm pat on their shoulder, as Treyton has their gun aimed towards the woman. Caitlyn looks painfully in the direction of the officer having their gun aimed towards her. His hands are becoming more visibly shaken as the situation before him is dire. The i1 looks at Treyton, saying out, <:: 679, amputate the anti-citizen. Now! ::> Breathing heavily, they pull the trigger towards the woman's head, killing her instantly. He keeps his gun trained at her for a long moment, letting it down to his side in silence. I guess this is what I deserve. I failed to tell you my secret, and you kept yours hidden from me until now. This is farewell, my love. I... am sorry.. Treyton says to himself, his thoughts wracked with different emotions. The i1 functionary grips Treyton's shoulder before saying, <:: I think you're ready to join DUTY 679. You did a good job here today. ::> Ever since that day, Treyton followed the duties of his fellow brothers and sisters in arms for several years; to only place their trust into them and to no one else. Three months after his first anti-citizen kill, there was an urgent request relaying any available civil protection assets to head to the Nexus medical bay immediately. At the time everyone was spread thin, so Treyton and one of the medical leads came into the med bay, only to find the City eight's administrator bleeding from being stabbed several times. It was revealed later that the administrator carelessly left their office without an escort which lead to this situation. With the supervision of the medical lead, as well as the threats of a towering white Overwatch soldier, Treyton was able to help save the life of the City's administrator. This would lead to him getting even more training done by the medical lead, granting him a medical badge, indicating that he was not only TEMS trained, but capable of doing surgeries as well. And within the same timeframe, the same i1 DUTY functionary that accompanied him with his first anti-citizen kill, trained him into becoming one of the squad's designated marksmen, considering a slot became vacant and both himself and the squad leader gave the clear to train him. About two years later, there was a confirmation of a large gathering of necrotic activity making its way to the city, as well as groups of antlions being startled by this and coming out of their dens. Although the city's defenses are quite fortified, having to deal with such a large force of necrotic and xen creatures when its at the city would spread civil protection forces too thin. So in a moments notice, a quarter of DUTY which included Treyton, small picks between the other available squads, and about five Overwatch soldiers were deployed by razor rain to the nearest outpost to defend against this large wave of flesh and bone. After arriving to the outpost, there wasn't much said but to make it towards a forward station that was crudely built. Along the way there was a mix of slow necrotics and parasitics littered across what was the highway, all of which didn't stand a chance against the onslaught of bullets. After reaching the forward station, there was a tower still standing and in good shape, somehow avoiding the conflict from before. Treyton with the company of a functionary climb this tower to get a better vantage point, and to act as a pair of eyes for the ground squads. The functionary accompanying him acted as a spotter incase there was anything that Treyton didn't see. After a good hour's worth of manning the post, and several waves of both slow and fast necrotics invaded the station, there was a period of silence. This pause of action would feel beneficial to many of the tired officers, getting time to patch up their wounded; something didn't sit right with Treyton though. And his intuition was right. In a split second several bullets came flying towards the pair of functionaries; the man on Treyton's left would collapse immediately from being fatally wounded. Rolling onto their side and away from the ledge, they remained completely silent as bullets fire towards his direction. Before he was even able contact the fellow squads from down bellow, the roars of more necrotics were heard; this was a trap, it had to of been! More gunfire is heard, but not from those shooting towards Treyton, but from his fellow brothers and sisters. The gunfire up towards him however would halter, giving him a chance to look around to see any possible anti-citizens in the area. And to his thought he was correct. A group of anti-citizens were using this opportunity to move around the necrotics, using the landscape and destroyed vehicles alike to conceal their position, and made their move towards a destroyed building next to the forward station. Treyton makes a quick yet quiet radio call to the squads down bellow, indicating an incoming flank from the anti-citizens. Without question, the group of Overwatch soldiers move around the Station to make a counter-flank to the anti-citizens as they make their way up the destroyed building. Having now every spot covered, Treyton and the rest of the functionaries start firing immediately at the failed attempt that the anti-citizens tried to do; all of their numbers brought down to zero. After a few more hours of defending the forward station and killing off the waves of then antlion and necrotic alike, they made their way back to the razor train at the station, and left to go home to City eight. Through Treyton's actions, he managed to save several functionaries lives, and was granted a bronze medal for his service. A couple of months go by, and by this time, Treyton has reached the rank of i3, and things seem quite alright. There have been hardly any anti-civil activity, both necrotic and exogen activity have been little to none, and the populace have for once calmed down. Then a beacon started to emit towards the civil protection members. About a week prior, a PDA was stolen from one of the secretary's in the CCA, and has now been broadcasting its location once more. Treyton along side with the UNION SqL and three other functionaries form a protection team to investigate and retrieve the stolen PDA. The location was nearby in the sewers, but still close to the city that didn't warrant a much larger force. Going through the bacteria infested waters and into the maintenance section of the sewers, they reach where the PDA has been broadcasting. However something doesn't seem to be right; the broadcast is appearing inside of the briefcase. Treyton knew something didn't feel right about this, and even told the i5 that was approaching the suitcase to not open it up. However they shrugged him off, failing to heed their caution, and nonchalantly flips the case open. In the split second that they flip the case open and to face towards Treyton to mock them, a loud ticking goes off. Tick... tick... ti-- The briefcase EXPLODES, shredding both the functionary that opened the briefcase, and his fellow compatriot next to them. The one closest to them is split in two from the force, their body flying back and slamming against the concrete wall, their bones cracking and breaking from the force. The functionary next to them gets flown back as well, their leg being blasted off with the lower part of their stomach ripped open as well. The other two functionaries including Treyton were lucky enough to both have distance from the explosion, and the two others taking the blast, that they received shrapnel and injuries of the like. Everyone's gear besides Treyton's was either malfunctioning, or the individual themselves were unconscious. Despite the pain he was in, he was able to endure it enough to call in for available officers to assist him, and those that might be still alive. To his luck, the functionary that once trained him all those years ago came to his rescue, including a few others. Treyton and the two other functionaries that lived were taken to the medical infirmary at their Nexus. Although he didn't lose any limbs, he received a lot of internal damage, and shredded the muscle in their left leg that prevented him from being on active duty until further notice. Because of what happened, he received a purple heart and was placed on medical leave. To avoid conflict of interest and to remain as anonymous as possible, Treyton was transported to City Eighteen, where he would work as one of the restaurant owners of the establishments there. He'd continue this way of life until he was cleared by the Civil Medical Union that he was 'healthy' once again. Afterwards, he'd get ahold of one of the civil protection officers to have him escorted to be reenlisted. After speaking with one of the available officers and being given a thorough interview, both regular and psychological, he was informed that he may not receive his original rank, to which he was content with. The only thing he wished for was to continue serving the Union and its ideas, and to be with his brothers and sisters once more. |
