A blinding flash enveloped the control room. Resistance fighters, vortigaunts and soldiers, all snuffed out in the grandiose flash that enveloped the room. Expanding outwards into the cold steel corridors and systems of a battle scarred hub of Combine control. Bellowing out before overtaking the war torn streets, a war machine of years past overtaken in the light as fighters and the citizenry flee, seeking what little cover they could in their exodus out of the former Spanish capital.

Through it all, a lone figure scrambled as fast as they could, ducking and weaving through intricate concrete veins beneath the city, joined with only the clothes on their back and the breath they expelled as they maneuvered through the labyrinth, navigating the intricate corridors and backrooms before eventually opening up a final steel door, the heat of the Iberian countryside hitting them as they stepped out as a thick plume emanated in the distance. The figure turned around, in awe at the act before they turned around, looking up to the clouded sky, stumbling forward to continue their exodus. Northward bounds as a square piece of plastic sits in their pocket.
