GEAR WIPE

I agree generally, however, I think there will always be people who focus on grind and scripts more, since, they're IN THE GAME, and considering how Rebels kinda need them to operate (unless you're a Doctor or COok who sits in safe-zones only), to really be a bebel.

If you punish bad RP, with making grind harder, and removing items, all you will do is make people upset, for better, OR for worse.

Also, you say "Cops had to roll a barrel" even though, in Route Canal, CP base has grenade caches soo

I’m literally melting all of your gear to make a big statue to commemorate Bernard Mulligan

listen i just remember seeing someone do a shotcop with an ar2 (they died and said '/me is kiled by combine' during the death screen') then disconnect

if i ever see a random new person who can't rp get an ar2 within 2 hours of joining ever again, im ending it

Guys you don’t understand I need scripts to roleplay I need to wear my T3 armour and show off my AR2 in the slums so random blue suits can look at how cool I am look guys I spent 55478 hours grinding for this gear join my rebel group and you can be just like me. Wait why are there cops in the sewers guys? They have pistols so I should kill them oh wait I died erm let me pk appeal and get my loot back because the sweep wasn’t for me.

Thought I post a conclusion to this back and forth as lots of speculation and wondering if this will be playing out or not.

I want to say that yes, a Gear wipe will be occurring- just rather than gear which mainly effects Rebels, we decided to spread it across the whole board and wipe all Items and funds from the Server. SC and Loyalty will be left intact, though I have spoken to CCA/SeCon and a mix of a IC and OOC cleanup will occur across all loyalists to demote, remove or just nudge down your status/SC will be happening based on Activity, their contributions and so forth in the system.

We understand some may not be happy and may quit, but that is a sacrifice Willard is willing to make. We have been thinking and a Whitelist has crossed our minds a few times for the Server as some seem to hold the opinion that they would rather have a low pop server with high quality RPers vs a high pop server with constant CvR, weapon issues and low quality RP. Just isn't fun in the current state of things for anyone. RP Focused groups & factions cant be arsed to play when their experience is ruined by people just wanting to press e on the next trash bag or just looking for the next item to add to their inventory.

The Survey showed massive dissatisfaction with the current scene and wanted a wipe too and the problems to be fixed. Not just Rebels, but OTA, CCR and some other elements of the server took a fair chunk of the blame. Vorts have been nerfed so they now can fight CPs without Cps feeling outgunned and outmatched. OTA has been pushed back heavily, buffed quite well but also can't deploy without a good reason and takes 2-8 hours to arrive on map. CCR is basically event faction now, just able to play as off duty CCR as civs and be able to grab gear when a situation calls for their urgent assistance.

Reason why we are doing this can be summed up below:

- Item Wipe
Needs to happen as now the Economy has been completely rewritten with Chips and Credits now being interconnected at a ratio of 1:4 (1 Credit to 4 Chips), the Rebels with gear are effectively holding 50,000+ chips worth of gear per rebel. Sentinel players currently hold a total net value of around a near million worth of chips in pure gear, which in the old 1:10 system we were half-assed using before, would basically be nearly 3-5 million of worth in chips.

The way the new economy works with stores becoming the main method requiring RP with other players and such and Trashbags have been slightly reduced with a reduction in lootcrates and what they hold and how they work doesn't fit the old gear at all. The only way for this new economy to work is for everyone to experience a loss of their stuff with proper IC reasoning to back up why.

Rebel Reps have already gone through with the Wipe and cooked up some IC lore as to why the Rebels lost their gear while heading to the new site for our next map. Explaining what happened, why and how the gear was lost and why nothing could be recovered.

On top of this the BMD system was rewritten, the Vendor system redone, Smuggling redone, GOI fabrication lists and how that works redone. The whole method of getting loot has been switched up. Also comes with a partial AC/BOL wipe to allow those rebels to use the City services and buy and sell goods from Stores. Some Stores will even trade in Credits and Chips.

Some may also complain and go "What about Transaction logs? What about the MOC process of getting a store? It blocks rebels!!!". Not anymore. Transaction logs are now restricted to essentially CCA and Server Admins only. Flags got reset too as too many people had flags bypassing systems. Also MOC now have 2 types of stores Official ones and Unofficial. You can now claim a store just by walking up, slap a padlock down and bam, you have a store.

Alternatively, you can do the above but then speak to MOC about getting permits for more official status and access to City Stocks and Warehouses.

Also update the weapons, removed a few, changed values, etc. Gear slightly different now too. Clothing now has warmth values, etc. Food and Drink also been changed along with drugs, medical, etc.

All different, nothing the exact same as before. Wipe is better for the whole system to take effect and work as intended.

- Eco Wipe
Money was wiped from both sides to ensure people start off with pocket change to spend with most money coming from Rations, tasks, workshifts, quests, Expos, etc. If this wasn't wiped with gear, it would leave some holes open for those rich enough to basically skip a few weeks ahead of everyone else, creating a unfair playing field. Instead we decided to start everyone off with the default starting amount of 20 credits. Enough for the basics.

Given this terminal is also poor af, and GOI set to a starting amount of 50k credits or below. It means that someone rich would break the whole system in a day and with Credits and Chips linked, those rich in Chips count towards an eco break as well as both currencies are basically of value now.

This ARC for this next map has a heavy emphasis on slow build up. Everyone is starting from scratch. Even CPs as they don't have a vendor able to spew out guns nor ammo, just the basics like zipties, batons, suits, masks, etc. CMU holds the medical, CWU does all the building and construction, including logistics.

Wiping money from both sides means both sides are now equal and both can equally use the new changes and systems made for this new Story coming into this Terminal and the changes we made to the Economy as a whole, as explained in the previous "ITEM WIPE" above.

- AC/BOL Wipe
Explained in the Item wipe. But needed to allow Rebels or those as AC/BOL to use City functions without 10 officers running their way. Cameras also not prominent in this map, nor are forcefields so works for such an low security and abandoned terminal.

There is possibly more to go over, but hope that satisfied some answers on what is going on and what decisions were made. Though I slapped this together so will need a more official announcement later on before launch.

Please also remove the instant item spawners in every store so there is more to running a store than just sitting there, taking a guy's tokens, and teleporting a Breen's Water into my shop. Have it so store owners have to buy items in bulk from the CWU. Put a bulk item spawner outside the CWU factory and make it so you have to then transport it to your shop.

I want to take risks, try to figure out what products sell the fastest, take inventory, run out of items naturally because I didn't plan ahead well enough, etc etc. ATM being a store owner is about as fun as being an NPC.

Will also make robbing or raiding stores for materials by rebels possible, as there is actual stuff to steal.

Unironically I have actually suggested this a few times, glad to see I'm not the only person with this mindset

May be a hot take, but I dont think most People wanna wait 5 minutes for their fucking breen water or a coat theu bought, cuz they need to wait for you to take it in.

Make a seperate suggestion for this, I want finite stocks and storage containers too.

idk, hot take here too, but have you perchance heard of a conversation or the deadly rp whilst you wait

I don't talk to store owners because they're sub-humans and only exist to get me scripts.

That isnt my point tho. But some peoples' obsession with changing things to be more convoluted just rubs me.the wrong way

Not only that, but system that they proposing, would be x100 more expensive and tedious

no person want's to sit in store, acting like a NPC you interact with and forget about once you've gotten what you want from him

this simplistic form we currently have is so boring you've essentially shut the excitement out of this portion of the server which is actually essential, whether it be a restaurant or clothing shop, you'll sit there and hope you get people spending in your store to make rent for the week whilst a big ass box behind you gives you something immediately when you want it
The one Goulashnikov talks about (how i've interpreted it anyways) is a way that if you actually put some work in your store, do some planning and pay attention, you'll be rewarded with much more profits (it's not gonna be more expensive) and ofc it's going to be riskier but it's better that than what we currently have

co signed

store rp is fucking excruciating and theres a reason why shops are either always up for the taking or closed

anyone opposing this change and wanting to keep the system in its current form is either terribly unfamiliar with the "gameplay" or simply a loon

Now I should't be talking here, since it been forever when I last played here, but I do have proposal to make Shop RP bit more..enjoyable or to atlest add RP to it.

Add so called "Off-Screen Workers / Assistants".

If you own a Restaurant and customer asks for a meal? RP it that a chef is making it [If you don't have a player chef] and set yourself a timer, for when it will be done, use the time meanwhile to have a conversation with your customer.

Same works for any other type of store, just switch out the chef to "Assistant" that is currently looking for pair of those fancy shoes, your customer asked for in your shop storage.

If they refuse to partake in RP?...Well you can be evil and "Pro-long" the wait for item they want to arrive.

------------------------------

Now I am not familiar how permits now work on the server?

But back then WAY before Antlion Horde Invasion, during the time of Political Parties and such, there were stores that provided RP Services, such as shoe polishing or beard trimming.

If current permits and shop rules allow for that? Well then go for it and add that to your store.

I'm only sad that I'm going to lose my vanity items that were given out during certain RP periods and event eras.

Vanities like medals and such.
