'Maddog's first taste of combat came during the Gulf War, where he served as an explosives expert in the USMC. His exceptional skills in handling and disarming explosives, as well as his calm under pressure, made him a valuable asset in the war-torn deserts of Desert Storm as they battled Iraqi forces. After his honorable discharge from the Marines following the Gulf War, 'Maddog' briefly returned to civilian life before he shortly ended up reenlisted in the Marines. This time, his path led him to becoming a drill instructor at Parris Island, South Carolina, during a time of relative peace. Maddog made a successful but brief career as a drill instructor at Parris Island, training the future generations of US Marines before the fateful events of 2001 happened and changed his life and career forever. Ditching his military equipment, 'Maddog' surrendered under the impression of a refugee and was subsequently transported to City 21 shortly after the end of the 7-hour war. He ended up enlisting with the Patriots after establishing himself in the city. He used his skillset to train and polish up recruits in insurgency operations against Civil Protection and Overwatch forces in the city and crafted IEDs and other devices. During the collapse of C21, 'Maddog' accompanied the rest of the Patriots out of the city and into the wastes...

Arriving in New Hope fairly late compared to other Patriots, 'Maddog' was not impressed with the situation and began taking a leadership position almost immediately upon arriving. With a clearly visible breakdown in law and structure from the Patriots and a declining wasteland between the warring factions of the Combine, the Vortigaunts, and the Patriots, he realized something had to be done. Before enacting anything the collapse of New Hope took place, with many of the Patriots being forced into exile; either sympathizing with the Combine and rallying to their cause, with several men rallying to the aid of the Vortigaunts in their war effort to prevent the launch of a missile towards the contamination zone formerly known as 'Cheyenne'. Seeing the collapse in structure, 'Maddog' assumed temporary control of the Patriots and began controlling all operations until General McClintock arrived to reassume control of operations. Serving as a loyal soldier and advisor to the General, 'Maddog' would eventually perform a witchhunt against 'rogue' Patriots and Vortigaunts, and lead his men in the extermination of the Vortigaunts in the New Frontier, mercilessly executing any man or creature deemed to be a traitor to the cause. Backed by the remaining Patriots, 'Maddog' continues to lead his men into the unknown of the crisis.

With the death of General McClinotck in the Battle of Colorado Springs, 'Maddog' took official control of the remaining Patriots under the new rank of General. Leading them to victory in the final battles of the wastes. After traveling to and somehow destroying an ascension facility, Maddog and several of his men were captured, though surprisingly being spared by scientist Hex Sanchez and the conscript forces at the base. Upon the sudden violent crash of the razor train, General 'Maddog' led the remaining Patriots and refugees out of the hazardous woodlands of Colorado through the Antlion-infested underground mines, eventually taking them out of the region entirely, leaving the Vortigaunts and Conscripts behind to an unknown fate.

KILO-04
Things definitely started out rough, but to be honest? I'm glad we met and had our interactions. Too many softies in this world who can't take a joke or two, and if you push them too far you end up being the bad guy. I would compare our brief but toxic relationship to be brotherly in nature. I'll be honest, I found you quite funny and thought it could've evolved into more, maybe a partnership or something. The last time I saw you was when my dogs saved your ass out in Denver, do you know how happy that made me? I could not keep the smile off my face. Wherever you are now, I hope you get out of that shithole and go back to the cities... friend...?

OUTRIDER-42
Close working partner and... boss...? of KILO-04, he seemed to like you so that makes you square in my book. I didn't know you that well, and what little interactions we did have consisted of vulgarity and who was going to die. One thing I will say about you is that you seemed very wise and down to earth compared to a lot of the other people I met along my journey out here on the New Frontier. Proved you wrong though didn't I? I am a man of my word. While I don't know enough about you to determine if I like you or not, you've already made a more positive impact on me than other units, and I respect you for trying to help my people; even when the leadership of the Patriots let everyone else down. Maybe in the future, we will work together more, I can see us getting along with a bit of work. My drive to get shit done and loyalty paired with your wisdom? Seems like an unstoppable pair.

Agent Smith
A federal agent seemingly embedded with my forces for an unknown amount of time, how the hell did that happen? I mean I didn't even realize an organization such as the CIA still existed after the entire world collapsed. Putting that aside, she is one of the most useful and intelligent people I had the pleasure of meeting out in the wastes. What really did it for me was the selflessness and courage she showed despite having the odds against not only herself but the rest of us. Perhaps one of the bravest individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and fighting beside, and I would gladly do it again. Hopefully, we will meet again someday, surely I've earned the spot to become a cool CIA operative as well.

Commander Reed
There isn't much to be said about this woman. With the very brief interaction I had with her, she seemed like a good leader, however; very unwilling to compromise with her opponents. She could come off as brutal and unforgiving in that sense. Though she did show me some kindness in our brief interactions, I haven't learned enough about her to give an honest opinion except for the fact that I hate uniforms.

Terrance Weathers
I'll be honest, in the beginning, I really didn't like you that much. We had our very noticeable differences and quarrels, however; as time passed, I realized how wise and mature you were. I took you for another dumb kid trying to make a name for himself in the wastes, except you proved to be more than that, and I was foolish enough not to see that. I'm sorry for being such an asshole to you, you deserved so much better. I just hope you made it out of the outlands in one piece; part of me feels guilty for leaving you behind with the conscripts out there to an unknown fate... Maybe we'll run into each other again, and things will be different.
