Credit to @Corpu for this.
Basically, instead of making rations work on a INDIVIDUAL timer, make it work on a GLOBAL timer and warn you 10 mins before your rations are ready.
So it would work like this:
- Every day, the rations get reset to a global timer of x hours / minutes.
- 10 minutes before your ration is ready, you are pinged; lets assume its done via a terminal or something similar. Or maybe your citizen instincts, whatever sounds more plausible.
- After those 10 minutes, rations are available for your character for 10 minutes. This is the standard time; if there are more players on the server, this will get bumped up by 5 minutes every 5 players on the server to account for long lines.
- After those 10 minutes are over, rations go back to being unavailable and the timer restarts.
Pros:
- Gets everyone into one area every couple of hours, allowing people to interact with each other more organically instead of trying to search around for people.
- Makes RDT more of a RP hub than just "another place".
- Possible to plan stuff maybe? Citizen events are easier to get going when everyone gathers in one area organically.
Cons:
- People who are busy or unable to get the ration might miss out and starve / be thirsty.
- Less personal agency.
NOTE: This is for Citizen rations only. IDK how this would work if CP's were forced under the same system. Maybe it'd be good? IDK, but it feels like it would have its own issues, like rebels would use that time to run into plaza or something since all the CP's would all be in one area in Nexus far from Plaza.
