Denied Greg Mechmad PK appeal

Okay, well I'll summarize here:

My partner lured you towards the blocked-off mine while I tagged along. As you had your back turned to us, my partner launched a sneak attack to put you out quickly (he rolled 22 in strength, which realistically should've taken/knocked you out), I then come in (In hindsight, I should've RP'd the surprise a little, so my bad) and strike you as well with another 22 hit. You summoned enough strength to radio for backup, which changed the situation entirely from a mugging to murder. You begged for mercy, which would've been granted to you if you did not radio for help; schizo finished you off and dragged you to the bushes (I didn't actually know he killed you, which is why I rephrased what I said earlier, there wasn't much communication on either part). But you someone died, not saying you Forced E death, but it seemed like that. After a while we get your stuff and drag you over to a disposal spot, to which Marshals character suddenly comes back online, Sprints directly over to our location, stares at us, then runs away. And that was it

I'm mostly speaking on my behalf when it comes to better equipment, you could've every easily taken out my guy since he was unarmoured. Even then, why risk a fight when you could sneak attack and win. I'll end my posting here and wait for a final verdict, thank you.
Thank you very much for sharing your perspective. I appreciate the explanation of each side’s account and the sequence of events. We will wait for the final decision and see what happens next.

Regarding Marshal’s presence at the location, I suspect he returned, after a brief absence to continue looking for an entrance. The last time we saw each other was in the woods. I might have been busy talking to a GM about a potential PK situation at that moment. We had agreed to focus on mining and gathering resources, and as you saw when we met up much long before that, we were prepared for that. Since he last saw me there with him with pickaxes, that might be why he was in that spot I’m only guessing, though. you should ask him directly.

As for the rest of the situation, I understand that from your perspective, calling for help changed the nature of the encounter. However, from my point of view, I had been struck in the back with an axe, and both of you were there, attacking me. Fearing for my character’s life, I reacted by trying to call for help, at the time, I felt it was my only lifeline. I didn’t know it would lead to a PK scenario. I was simply trying to survive our confrontation. It is understandable that you may have had reasons for the attack, and I do not claim to know all the circumstances from your perspective. I was simply wondering whether, in light of the server rules, the situation, including the initial ambush and my reaction to it justified the permanent death of my character.

I do not wish for any unpleasantness, arguments, or drama between us. I leave the final decision to the gm's, trusting that they will consider both sides and my appeal regarding the NLR.

edit: When I wrote this, there was no response to it from Marshall.

Put the arguing to rest, and wait for an administrative decision. The facts are being looked into, as well as the OOC behavior and conduct in the situation. Don’t sour it further by insulting each other here. We already had a conversation about this sort of aggressive communication last night.

Thread is being locked. Thank you everyone for your input.

A decision on this will be posted in due course.

Per our PK policy and guidelines, only two criteria need to be met to enforce a PK.
  1. Was the character's death a direct or indirect result of the character's own actions?
  2. Were all server rules followed in the events that led to this character’s death?
After thorough review, we've determined that both criteria were met.

Greg Mechmad actively affiliated himself with a BMD, which led to his own targeting and subsequent death. Under our harsher PK rules, his death can be indirectly attributed to his affiliation, which would not have happened had he not otherwise chosen to affiliate/work for that BMD and died because of it.

That makes their death a direct or indirect consequence of their actions, regardless of:
  • the Attacker's intent (which was robbery/kidnapping),
  • the violent surprise attack (that forced you to resist/call for backup),
  • your resistance (which would not constitute a PK on its own given the surprise attack and lack of verbal communication).
Therefore, we will be denying this appeal.
