HL2RP is not fun for citizens

rp freedom and character development both run directly counter to the depersonalizing dystopian nature of hl2 right down to its core

it's wholly impossible to run a true-to-life hl2rp server that adheres to game canon as best as possible because it would be agonizingly boring for everybody -- not just citizens

i think HLA is a better place to pull from as it's canon retail material and it has a lot of classic hl2rp tropes like workers and news centers and such

nonetheless citizenrp is inherently boring and i do think it's not feasible to create a sustainable long-lasting hl2rp citizen experience unless you deviate FAR from canon or do an outlands setting

playing a Citizen can be fun ppl just suck and wanna s2k rebels or cops all day (just go play valorant ok?)

idk i don't like citizen rp
You gotta make it fun homie, tbh I think CitizenRP is even better than OTA or CP rp right now. U gotta create cool and unique chars, I've been going on with Winnie and Pegul and honestly it never gets old

Install CSGO idk, roleplay is roleplay. There's a million things you can do on a citizen, you just decide to not do them

the only thing i'll give this man credit for is the fact everyone is so focused on making city/slums RP into a singleplayer grind skyrim experience that sometimes it gets tiring to try and initiate the RP all the time.

yesterday i played on my civvie for a change, and god knows i tried to interact with plenty of people, but unless you have a "solid" reason on paper (workshift, need of medical assistance, etc.) people just kinda shrug you off to keep walking around collecting trashbags. hell, even at the cmu they kicked me out pretty quick...

people kinda forgor about the roleplay in half life 2 roleplay

I literally roleplay as a wendigo with autism that is a very talented cooker and does cool tricks with an UU-approved tricycle, u just need imagination and determination fr fr

oh absolutely, i'm just calling people out in saying most civ players dont got any of those

the problem i encounter is finding people competent enough to carry their own story or even know what the hell they are doing unless they are explicitly told to do something

I think people rely too heavily on expecting someone else to hold their hand and tell them what to do

go make an antagonist, people.
Start antagonizing.

Here's some stats from the community survey, citizen hit the max even above CP of what ppl prefer to play as! Not saying it's perfect though and there are improvements to be made but here's the numbers

A lot of people probably classify their rebel as 'citizens' tbf.

The problem with CitizenRP is that it is inherently risk-and-conflict adverse. You can't just slap a gun in a citizen's hand for an event, or do half of what you can do for CP's/Rebels.

Where/when is this poll from? Have I been sleeping under a rock? How did I miss this? o_o

Honestly Citizen RP is the best time you have to make character development, prior to joining an actual faction, whether that's CWU, Civil Protection, a rebel group, etc.
If you're a recent transfer, you have time to decide which way your character is going to swing. Is he going to be sympathetic toward others and help the poor/downtrodden, is he going to manipulate people and report them for the Social Credit? You could open a store through DOB, get employed to work in one of the stores, slowly integrate yourself as a loyalist, or an anti-citizen in the slums.

Yeah, I mean, aside from doing work shifts and turning in contraband/people, there's not a whole lot offered if you want to be collaborator. But if no RP is being brought to you, bring it to others. I've met tons of people and gotten a lot of enjoyable RP from simply hanging out in a Cafe, talking to a lone player trying to roleplay, or finding a group that's already talking and add to it. All depends on your approach, really.

I find it better to do it that way, rather than just jump right into a faction with a new, blank slate of a character.

But that's just me. Otherwise, just farm SC, join a faction, betray the faction, join another, get your crafting skill up to 50 and start your own rebel army.
