"The Asceticism of Duke de Goggerty" is the title of a masterpiece self-portrait created by the genius artist, painter, poker player, businessman, influencer, author, poet, transhuman-arm candidate rejectee, playwright, actor, model, ultramarathon runner, ex-CCR Colonel, ultra-distance cyclist, triathlete, public speaker, and author of two memoirs—Duke de Goggerty.

Duke de Goggerty, a natural-born poker player, philosopher, and businessman, was born in the mean streets of Tampa, Florida, U.S.A. He only knew grit, sweat, and blood in his early years, where his father, a prominent figure in Wall Street circles, provided him with a pathetic loan of seven million dollars to jumpstart his exceptional talent for poker, emphasizing it was about skill, not any sort of addiction. Duke is often known as a "hyper-racist," as in a few memoirs, he recalls his neighborhood held "citizens consisting of white people," shaping his "crusade against all humanrace," which he often talks about through the use of literary themes within his literature. He might have autism. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature six times; his novels are said to cover themes of nihilism, homo-eroticism, techno-mysticism, and anti-humanism, to name a few. He has said, on multiple occasions, he is not a homosexual; one interview he did in 1999 had him "crying on the floor, pounding the carpet insisting he was not homosexual," says interviewee Benjamin Cornsmith.

Within scholarly and intellectual circles, Duke de Goggerty is regarded as a brilliant savant, being high-IQed, sitting within the 25.24925th percentile (not freaking bad!).

De Goggerty is not only a multi-faceted sensation but also a multi-talented macgyverist. He has that pizzazz, that savoir-faire, qualities that would make any good citizen jealous, and being the humble man he is, it was said, during his stint within City One's CCR, during the start of the peaceful handover of the world governments (during the New York Conference), Duke de Goggerty was Wallace Breen's right-hand advisor. However, these whispers are only speculative myths stemming from his close proximity to the Administrator during that era. It is a fact, however, that Duke de Goggerty did serve time within City One's paramilitary, at the time not called the CCR but a name long lost under piles of old reports of "extrajudicial punishment committed by Colonel De Goggerty's battalion on several incoming refugees seeking refuge from the surrounding states."

Colonel de Goggerty's "use of WMDs" and "unethical dehumanization" caused political repercussion in the young Breen Cabinet, forcing De Goggerty to be considered a candidate for something new, something called 'transhumanism'—which, to be put in short, 'turns your average Joe into a unit,' placing them within a separate military arm of armed forces. However, Duke de Goggerty was such a PHYSICALLY IMPOSING CREATURE that his frame wouldn't have fit inside the early-prototype suit.

The Cabinet had to come to a decision, and although Duke de Goggerty was such a useful military asset (being the only BEAST to have a 100% peer evaluation), he also had his uses in the political sphere. His literature, although bizarre and containing concerning undertones and themes, raised a peculiar and morbid interest in the eyes of the Cabinet, seeing that they could, in fact, use him. He would be given an important mission: to use his charisma and staunch philosophy to lead a civilian militia in an investigation into local New York gangs that had essentially "unionized" against the new authority. This was called "The Goggerty-Witchhunt of 2014." There was one thing he hated more than gangster-terrorists, and that was communists. He would undertake this task not as a Colonel but as a Military-Governor, in a sub-section on the border of Lower Jersey and the Jersey Estate, the unofficial term for the quarantine zone of Jersey Center.

The Goggerty-Witchhunt of 2014 was reported by the New York Times (which later was absorbed into whatever ministry of propaganda) to have a 100 percent success rate. Military-Governor Duke de Goggerty led a fanatic militia; however, he was still kept on a tight leash, allowed to conduct certain operations if they suited his overlords in New York City. He got the job done, as the statistics said. There were local rumors from the frontlines that Goggerty used the Puritan Witch-hunts as a template—and what exactly he did during his mission was omitted from any official records, or "lost."

As time went by, so did careers, people, bygones and war crime tribunals. Duke de Goggerty found himself in a fresh transfer, and that was the last thing anyone heard from him. A rumor persisted that he was transferred somewhere in the Orient, however, one fact was for certain. There was no place for a man like him in City One.
