In-Character How do I backstory

What I advice is to not follow what has just been stated by some people, I advise you not to make a too 'crazy' backstory making it seem like a Main Character, surely it is your character but think of it as a person that had or has hobbies, maybe has a good relation with food, simply despises the Combine or tries to live by it. The pre war backstory doesn't have to make you look like a Spec Ops soldier or a person straight out of John Wick/Hitman, the best characters are the ones that had a lifestyle that you'd see in real life as well, simply think of it that it was like 20-10 years before the arrival of the Combine so life was obviously different than it is today in 2024

If you consider your character's background uninteresting, don't force yourself to write more than 2 pages on it. It's not good to write more when you have less to say! It's perfectly fine to want to play somebody who is in objective listing unremarkable and unassuming - but it goes counter to the idea that you need to tell people where they went to middle school ^^
